COIN PURSE

I went shopping with a friend the other day and she almost had a cow (truly) right there in the store when she saw me drop my change in the bottom of my purse.

 It shamed me....

Do I not have purse etiquette?  (NADDA)

Do I not have any since of organization?  (NOPE)

 I guess not...

I think the whole store could have heard a pin drop when she Gasped. so...

ashamed as I was...

I went home and made myself a coin purse. I just need to poke out the corners and all will be well.

I think this little coin purse is about 3 1/2" long and 2 1/2 inches wide.

 Does the trick.

Now I can't wait to drop coins in my little purse so my friend can see....who is embarrassed now.    Oh trust me, she will want one...

YOU CAN'T MAKE JUST ONE!!!

Here is the finished product.

You can get the tutorial here

 .
These are so fast and fun...I just want to make more.

Someone asked me how I did the corners....now that is a good question. I just did them like you would do a regular binding corner except for the sides, I did them the same as you would on the corners of a quilt except I put them on an angle. I don't know if that makes sense. I still need practice but I am pleased with how they turned out.

The winner of the batik runner kit is Laurie from "West Texas Threads".....so Laurie, I need your address.... Maybe next time I get a hankering to do another one of these runners, I will just cut out double and have another giveaway....sounds good to me.

BEFORE AND AFTER KINDA GAL

I love all the home shows that show the before and After, like "Property Brothers" and "Love it or List it", "What not to Wear"....there is just something about the transformation that has me there....but trust me, I am not just sitting and watching TV.

 So...here is the Before:
After I washed it:
You are probably thinking that you don't see much difference....well I do. I had a few small ripples in the border but after I washed it....ooooo la la.

I was going to put this runner in my shop but I just loved it so much and so....I claimed it.

It matches my furniture so well and the splash of orange....I just couldn't help myself. I don't need more runners but what is one more....RIGHT???
The giveaway for the runner kit is here

So...as I was watching Project Runway last night, I cut out another runner. I laid it all out. I would have sewn it then too but my machine is in the other room... When it was over I began to sew it...and it only took 30 minutes if that much to do the top.

You are probably thinking... Barb you are joshing us.

 I lie not.

If you have it laid out and trust me, you have to lay it out before. I even marked my pieces because the first one I did I didn't and well...there was a big of confusion going on.

I learned from that and decided not to just pick my pieces up like she did on her

tutorial.....she might have been able to execute that with ease but this gal couldn't.

Then another little tip that I learned wacthing a tutorial (can't tell you which one because I don't remember) but...

when I iron, I attack it like nobodies business...and you are not suppose to...just put the iron up and down, no swishing it from side to side, you don't distort the fabric that way.

I just love this "Indian Summer" Fabric from Inchworm Fabrics, if she has much left I would be
surprised because I am her best customer.

RUNNER KIT GIVEAWAY....COME SEE WHAT IS ON MY DESIGN FLOOR!!

Well to be honest, I am kinda down in the tooth today.

I was suppose to be flying to Amerika Samoa but as you can see, that didn't happen.

Life has it turns and twist and sometimes you think you have it bad until you see someone who has it worse and so for today, I am just grateful I was allowed to live another day.

Corny I know but hey, there has to be a bright side right?

So last night I cut out this table runner with my binding tool, this is one of Missouri Star's tutorials.

Don't you just love Batiks? I don't know if this is how it is going to go together but it gives you an idea.
So this is what is on my design floor right now.

I am on my husband's computer and couldn't figure out how to crop it (actually it would not allow me to). but that stack on the side is enough for another runner for one of you.

Just leave a comment and I will post a winner in a few days. Have a great day

HEMOSTATS AND QUILTING?

First off let me say that I should take stock in Cadbury...and it has to be carmel filled to satisfy this gal.
Here is my new best friend.....a hemostat
AS I was taking my online class for my serger, one of the supplies was a hemostat.

 I am thinking....what!!!

Do I need a license to use one?

 I AIN'T no surgeon...

I AIN"T Got NO College education.

So what they hey....when I was in JoAnn's I purchased one (used  a coupon...didn't need an education to figure out coupons are the way to go).

 OH MY stinking total gosh!!

This thing is the best for helping you pull out those tough stitches (Yes, now you know why I needed the cadburys).

I use it to help me thread my needles...yes the tweezers are great but this thing has jaws like the devil himself.

Who Says You Can't Go Back?

A while ago I was sitting in church listening to everyone sing, I was transported back to Amerika Samoa where the sound of their singing was pure heavenly.

I was sad because I knew that I would never be back there, never see the beautfiul mountain, ocean, or my wonderful friends.

Was I ever wrong. It wasn't a few weeks later that my husband comes home and says he has to go To Samoa for work. My heart soared but I also knew it was a great expense to take me.

I told him I would stay home but he said, there was no way he was going without me.

Then I talked to a wonderful friend who said that this chance may never pass this way again and my son told me that as well....so here I go.

 Flying again

I know I said I would never fly again (I made myself out to be a liar).

It didn't take long for news to circulate on that island about me coming (I didn't help much

either...HA!!!)

Here is the tote I did yesterday for a friend who wants me to bring it with me.  She wants a matching cosmetic bag but....

Wasn't too motivated so I just read a book.

I read a book when I have a ton of things to do, what is up with that?

The Tree of Life quilt needs attention and I read a book!!

A friend also asked me to teach a class on "Sewing for Profit", so I am trying to come up with ideas for that. I am also trying to keep the supplies to what they can find on the island. So if any of you have suggestions and pattern (not breaking copyright) can you let me know. We leave this Thursday...not looking forward to the flight but what is new?

HEAD BANGING AND NAME CALLING

Yesterday after super I began to load this quilt (which took me nearly all day to prep because of one issue or another).

 The backing went on wonderfully....

I thought...this is great....I will be able to start stitching on this tonight.

 Next the batting....whohooooo making headway...

Then I got to the top....oh my stinking gosh....

Let the head banging and name calling begin.

"I am so............" you fill in the blanks

I can't believe I am so............... You fill in the blanks....

bang the head against the wall (didn't really do this but wanted to).

This quilt is real important to me so I wanted it to be perfect.

I contacted a few people to get all the information before I started.

Yes, I have used this before but I just let my baby quilts free float.

 I watched videos....

Then when it came to the top..... Sheweeee...after about an hour of frustration, I went downstairs and grabbed a book.
Still irritated with myself and not wanting anyone to talk to me because some one's head was going to roll if they did.

I know it was not any one's fault but I was just so mad at myself.
I go online and talked to Debi and she went through what she did.

Well.....as I was watching "Project Runway" the light bulb went off.... I am loading the top wrong. You can fill in the blank here.

You would have thought I would have gone back and fixed it. nope...there it hung...all night.

Then on Tuesday I made 80, yes eighty of these little aprons.  Once again about halfway through

I started chastising myself.  Whey do I always bite off more than I can chew?  Why am I doing this, I am ..... (you fill in the blank).

I didn't post these earlier because if you were not a Mormon, you would think, how arrogant but if you were to come to my lesson that I am teaching Sunday, you would know differently.
