REMEMBER THIS ONE???

This is the quilt I made for my friend from my last work place. She is totally awesome and well, it is past her birthday (am I bad or what)? Well, it is also for her retirement next year this time. So I am late, early...whatever!!!

To put my disclaimer in, I do not drink, I am not advertising drinking, this quilt just suits my sweet friend.

I have an awesome backing, I would show it to you but I didn't realize that it has a girl with just a lei for a shirt...it is not bad but I don't dare put it on here. I didn't realize it until it was too late and the back is just wonderful even if she was not on there. Oh well....am I bad again? My mistake.

One time I made a quilt for my son's graduation, it has class of 2002 on it and well, the "cl" got cut off in parts of the quilt. I never realized it until completed.....and one of the boys saw it... what a hoot they got, they will never let me live that one down.

TWAS A BUSY WEEK LAST WEEK!!

So I will start off with my most recent finish. This is that swap I did a while back. I just stippled it. Do you ever sew and think....wow, this is awesome, nothing has gone wrong................................ and then it does. Like you jinx yourself. Well, I did in this case, I was two thirds the way through, so excited and wham!!!! I sew a seam in the back....then the tension goes bad, then I run out of thread....shall I go on. So, I am glad to have this done.

I have also figured out that when I start to sandwich my quilt, before I start to quilt it, I make sure I have the binding ready. This way, I go from quilting to binding and don't have the problem of just letting the quilt sit waiting for a binding.

Don't forget about the quilt giveaway below....
Happy Quilting!!

FRIENDSHIP GARDEN COMPLETED

Here is the completed quilt, it looks funny on the bottom in this picture but it is square...truly. My Mr. Pfaff was a pleasure to work with, everything went smoothly with a job well done. No complaints on this end. I do need to find a better way to hang my quilts...but for now....this is it!

Here is the quilt from the "Quilter's World" magazine, someone had commented about the magazine and not seeing the picture so I decided to show it to you. I will say this was a fun quilt to make and if you knew me, this quilt just screams me!! It's the colors I love and the techniques I love as well.

IN NEED OF A QUICK BABY GIFT?

That is me today, need a quick gift....I do mean quick. I cut corners every which a way.....First, it should be padded....got rid of that....and next, I just serged around the edges. The pink one you see is done with the padding and pinked with shears on the end. The rest, just real quick....and for those of you who need a drool rag when visiting some of these sites and seeing their new material, well....these will work well for that.

And I can't forget something to take it in....the credit goes to lazygirl

I used a shoe string for the handles....so it took me all of 15 minutes to make this little gift bag tote.

FRIDAY'S PROJECTS!!!

This is a lunch bag, made from another lunch bag (torn apart for the pattern) made by a friend.. The only help I gave was a little comment here or there or a yes or a no....I was busy putting buttons on my husbands shirt....the one in an earlier post. Yes, you heard it here, finally that shirt has buttons!! YEPEEEEE!!! Another gal came later, the one who did the apron in an earlier post and she just took the bib part off and recentered it. What a fun day with friends....and such motivation to finish the little mundane touches of a project.

Get ready, it is almost September...can you believe it? I am planning another giveaway...so stay tuned.

A WOMAN OF COLOR

I have decided that I am a woman of color.....you see this quilt below. It is made from the nine patch swap blocks that Aunt Pitty Patty put together. I was showing this to my husband and he likes it but says that I am so use to these Samoan and island fabrics that anything would look dull after that. So....I am a woman of color...not afraid of it.

As you can see I have one row that is different. I did not have enough blocks to make 12, I only had ten...so I added a few segments to go all the way across and just did a pink line between the other blocks. I am thinking now that a green square at the end of each strip at the top where the different blocks are seperated by the pink. would look good...? Too late....I am done...I have so much going on that I have to be done, or for atleast now, well....I might get to thinking to much on it and change it tonight....my husbands still does not have buttons on his shirt...did find some buttons but ....well......the mood left.

Yep, the more I look at it, the more it needs two green squares to seperate the pink line up top....so as it is written, so shall it be done....

ISN'T THIS ADORABLE?

I just love this, the colors, the style but most of all because it was made by a very dear friend of mine and she made it for me....for me....for me.... did I say how much I love it? She doesn't sew much but while she was off island she got with a group of ladies at church and made this and I think she made herself one too. She said she wanted to show me that she could sew too...and she can, I knew she could....she is awesome. Gave me this lovely soap too..smells oohhhh so nice. What would life be without friends????

Just today my friend that made this apron told me that she made it from an old muumu.....how impressive is that? She was saying that her cousin goes to second hand stores and buys dresses and makes aprons out of them....talk about going green. Then she gets a booth at several places and sales them.

On another note of interest Fabric mom is having a 400th giveaway....

She is giving away a mini quilt, pin cushion and some charm squares... Wonderful blog as well.....

ANOTHER GIVEAWAY over at Quilt n things She has alot of prizes and one of them is a quilt....and she too has an awesome blog....so please, check both out, you won't be sorry.

Either you all are going to love me or hate me for such a long post...but there are some wonderful giveaways out there and one of them is at

Green Fairy quilts.....hop on over there and take a look....and then hop on over to her store to some really wonderful bargains.

ANOTHER WONDERFUL GIVEAWAY OVER AT Sew Fantastic. she is giving away a book and some coveted material.....yepeeeee

MY SIGNATURE SWAP BLOCKS

I will be honest, I was kinda concerned when all these emails were coming in about color choices etc...but Pat told me to just be me and go with what I wanted. So I did, sorry if some of you don't like what you see and hope you won't feel like you don't want to put them in your quilt because of the brightness of it all. You can just click the button on my side bar to visit Linda's blog....you will love her alpacas.

I did some blue for a more toned down block...hummmm

This next one if for Gene...remember that Linda...this is Gene's block. I hope you like it.

Some browns....for that touch of Samoan goodness.....

Did I read in an email or two where Linda wanted red? Here you go Linda....

Then some all out Samoan goodness.....

SATURDAY'S PROJECT

I made this pillow for my friend that did the quilt along. It matches her quilt. The funny thing is, this is for her birthday and I had to call her and ask her for the maroon fabric. I wanted it to match perfectly. I had the other material (which she gave me at the end of the quilt along).

She brought me the fabric and asked what I was doing and I think I said, just something. My husband heard her ask and when she left, he asked me what I said. I told him nothing....she was put off by it she told me but then she just decided that I would blog about it. Little did she know it was a Birthday present for her.

She is an awesome friend.

I stippled the pillow, then put the picture on and ruffle before I sewed it all together and stuffed it. The stippling took the most time because I had to figure Mr. Pfaff out...why don't men just come out with it instead of making us figure it out?

Doesn't she have a lovely family?

DISAPPEARING NINE PATCH

I really like to make these disappearing nine patch quilts. I make the squares real big...probably 14" so it will make up quick and showcase the pretty fabrics. This is the one I had to take all the stippling out on.... Turned out nice too...

If you look at the top of the quilt, the lighting is better and shows the real color value of the quilt.

Okay.....I won this over at I'm just a guy who quilts, He was having a vacation giveaway and I won one of the prizes...and what lovely prizes.... The beautiful Patriotic Fat Quarters...he even added a few things like thread, rick rack, and a (I call it a candle without a wick)...smells soo good, I have been going through the house smelling it as I go. You would think I was a drug addict looking from the outside in...open the container, smell.....go ahhhhhh walk a little bit...open the container....go ahhhhh and walk some more....

If you have not been to his blog, you really must go over there....he does fabric swaps...he has children he talks about and wonderful quilts.

ME AND MR. PFAFF FINISHED THE QUILT ALONG TOP

This is the border I did for the quilt. It was the left over pieces after cutting the squares. I just put them together around the quilt and then added the green border in front and the brown in back.

Here is the completed top, this is a kind size top. I don't know if I want to have it for my room or for our guest room? Trying to decided. I think I would have chosen different colors but this was ment to be a sample for someone....but it turned out nicely anyways.
Kinda has a romance look to it.

"Me and Mrs. Jones" and added stuff of her own....what a hoot...Thanks Sherry, now for you...if you like, go to my artfire store and chose a yard a fabric or two half yards for this fun email you sent me.

Michael Bublé Lyrics

Me And Mr.Pfaff

Me and Mrs Jones, we got a thing going on
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong to let it go now

We meet ev'ry day at the same place
Six-thirty I know he'll be there
Holding quilts, making all kinds of plans
While the jukebox plays our favorite song

Me and Mr, Mr Pfaff, Mr Pfaff, Mr Pfaff
We got a thing going on
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong to let it go now

We gotta be extra careful
That we don't build our hopes too high
Cause he's got her own obligations and so do I
Me, me and Mr, Mr Pfaff, Mr Pfaff, Mr Pfaff

Well, it's time for us to be leaving
And it hurts so much, it hurts so much inside
And now he'll go his way, I'll go mine
But tomorrow we'll meet at the same place, the same time
Me and Mr Pfaff, Mr Pfaff, Mr Pfaff

Sorry if this song has been put back into your mind now.

Then the winner of my giveaway was Rumi from "Lucky Frog" I have enjoyed going to my hotmail every day and seeing all of the comments, really made my week go fast and fun. My husband did bring home a ton of batting, some nylon straps for totes, and some chocolate macadamian nuts...ummm mmmm good.

Now I just need some address....

Thanks to all of you again...

WANNA MAKE MY DAY?

Well....I am not happy....infact, if I was to let myself, I would be very very unhappy. My husband is flying out to Hawaii without me (on business)...but that is not the worse part. He is going to see one of my sons.....my heart longs to see this one son. Yes, I could go but................. I am sporting a new Mr. Pfaff (I wonder if my husband knows that I will be alone for 4 days with Mr Pfaff)? We also are trying to go to the US in December. We thought the government had promised us a trip home during our 3 years here but...as it seems that was a promise not given...so the expense will be on us. AND.....................as you all know, we just came from the states in June...what an expense. So, yes, I could go but if I want to go in Dec, and I want to take my one son in Hawaii with us.....soooooooo...I need to stay...sob...sob...sob...

Which leads me to this. It is up to all of you to make me happy....what a responsibility that is for you. So leave me a comment and as you do, I will add a gift each day. I will announce a winner on Friday after my husband returns...well...maybe Saturday....Friday will be so busy with different things, sewing, lunch with a friend, and a social that night.

So this is the first of five items....this is a 2" INCH FUSIBLE. Have you ever used this product? All you do is cut out, I think 2 1/2 inch squares and iron them on the fusible and then sew...it is awesome. I think you will like this. Leave me a comment...I need someone to make me laugh, make me smile and help me pass this four days with ease.
