CHRISTMAS LOG CABIN QUILT

I have always loved the look of the Log Cabin Quilt but have never really wanted to make one.  For one, cutting all those strips was daunting to me.

Last year for the month of November the Island Batik Ambassadors were given the challenge of making a log cabin quilt.  You can find the post here

Sooooooooooo not looking forward to cutting out all those strips I purchased the Accuquilt Log Cabin Die.  Yeah me!!  or LAZY ME!!

                                               ACCUQUILT LOG CABIN DIE
GO! Log Cabin-12" Finished Square by Leslie Main Die

Trust me, this made the process so much easier.

After I made the log cabin quilt for the November challenge of last year, I decided to make a King size log cabin quilt for my bed.  I had been carrying around with me for YEARS (I know that most of you never do that) some fabric I had purchased from Connecting Threads, two of the same kit and about four yards of the red fabric that was included in the kit.

Unfortunately, I didn't have enough to make a king size quilt but I did get a quilt 100" x 100".

I was not looking forward to quilting on my domestic machine but I am not able to get to my longarm.
Doesn't look so hard starting out???

                                                        Decided to do loops.

                                                Using Aurifil Thread #2870

Hobbs Batting Cotton 80/20, did I tell you how much I love this batting?

Getting closer to the middle and is getting kinda crowded under the neck of my machine.
I only had difficulty when I got to the middle width way and length ways, other than that all went well.

Here it is on my king size bed.

Doesn't look to bad at the end but on the sides it is a little short for my liking but I have a solution and when I finish what I have planned in my head, I will show you.

With the weather being so ugly outside I can not go and lay it out flat so you can see the whole quilt.

Here it is on a double bed and boy am I ever thrilled with it.  Drapes
so nicely on the sides and back but my husband loves this quilt so much that it only going on our bed.

I can't believe we are already in November.  If I don't get another post up by Thanksgiving, do have a wonderful one!

If you are looking for a fun project, Kathleen McMusing is having a fun "Awesome Ocean" sew along.  Her first blocks came out today!

                               won't you join us?

SUNBONNET SUE AND OVERALL SAM

Last night it took me four hours just gathering fabrics, cutting, and fusing the Sun Bonnet Sue to the background fabric.

Haven't fused the Sams yet.

Here they are here waiting.  My Accuquilt Go made short work of cutting these out.

These are the border fabrics for these quilts.  These two are for twin boy and girl.
I purchased these fabric from Connecting Threads when they had them on sale.  I really do like their fabrics and I especially like it when I can get a good sale.

Made these bowl potholders for a friend.  You can find the patterns online for free or on craftsy.

HELLO.......HELLO.....IS ANYONE OUT THERE?

As you can see, I have been very busy.....and this is not all of them, I have given or consumed 11 more jars.  Won't say how many were consumed....hummmmm  Just about anyone who comes to my home goes home with some.

I have stopped canning and just make the juice and freeze it for canning later in the year.  Maybe Christmas Presents with a nice hand towel?

My son's girlfriend sells Sarah Briggs jewelry and so I made her some snap bags for her really nice pieces.
His girlfriend came down for the week-end to be with my husband and I while our son worked.  I guess she likes us, we spoil her and in turn she spoils us.  She made supper Sat. night, breakfast Sunday Morning and then supper that Sunday evening and even cleaned up the mess.  I thought I had died and gone to heaven except for the extra pounds I gained from her awesome cooking.

I have been working on this one quilt forever and finally got the borders quilted.  Trust me, I am in no competition with "Green Fairy Quilts" but I am sure pleased with the outcome.  Now to just bind it.
I purposely didn't show you the whole quilt so you would not get bored with it.

Those of you who like Connecting Threads, they are having an awesome sale on their fabrics.  I purchased background fabrics (solids) for $2.20....if that isn't a deal I don't know what is.

SO I AM BUSY FEEDING MY ADDICTIONS TODAY, FABRIC AND JELLIES...UMMMM UMMMMM GOOD!!!!

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST (CONNECTING THREADS)

This quilt is called Flowing Silk Lap Quilt by Connecting Threads.  The kit was given to me by my sister Jeanette while I was in Amerika Samoa.  I loved the colors then and I love them now.  Got the top done but finally getting it quilted and bound...whohooooo stinking HOOOOO
                                               OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS!!!
Noticed it too late!!!

Made this Tuesday from the scraps from the "Love" runner I did.

All is going good except.....our dog has gone missing.  Where oh where can our little Dog be?

No sooner had I typed this and stepped out the door to find our dog coming up.  We figure he must have been out "chasing skirts", tom catting or up to Tom Foolery....

Was a bad dog to be gone all day and all night...he is one tired dog....looks kinda ashamed of himself.

STARTING THE YEAR OUT WITH A SUNSHINEY BANG!!

IMG_2327
I am at a quandry….since I purchased these fabrics last week does that count as a 2014 purchase when I got them yesterday?  Purchased from Connecting Threads, no rhyme or reason to the buy, got it just because I lobbbbed it.

I had told myself that I was not going to buy any fabric this year except for backings.

Was that a snicker I heard?

  Not very nice of you.

I can do it…really I can.

I tried this once before and lasted nine days.

My husband told me not to buy this fabric, I think when he goes around the house and sees fabric shoved in all of the closets, the boxes in the other room....  Well….I think he thinks I don’t need any more???

Don’t ask me what is up with that?  Need no more fabric?  That is a curse word

Anyways….I must have been in a sunshiney mood because most of the fabric I purchased were orange or yellow.
Did you see the batiks?  Ummmmm Ummmm delicious.
Reminds me of the sprays when you are peeling an orange in anticipation of the actual slice itself.

I hope all of you are having a good year so far…we are three days into this new year and if all goes like every year we will be whittling this year away into a blurr.

Here is hoping that all of you will have a sunshine of a year but do remember to stop and smell the roses.

FUN ! FUN!! FUN!!!!!!

I know you are wondering what I am doing with all of that...that...well...that!!!

I am making them into these....

A month or so ago Robin sent me a note pad just like the one above (different fabric). I told her that I so loved it and if she didn't mind if I tried to mimick it and make some of my own. Well.... Robin being the generous person she is, sent me the pattern.....now you can have it, just go here Fast, easy, fun...and makes for a great gift because I sooooo love mine.

Oh....will you take a second to click on my side bar where it says Connecting Threads and go over and vote for Gene's fabric....
