THE DOOR

See this door?  Of course you do.

Can you guess what is behind that door?  Door #1???

Look at the left bottom corner, that is the top of my computer.  When I am sitting there and the door is open

my husband can see me from his desk, behind the door is his office. You guessed it!

The view you are seeing is my view from my sewing machine.

Usually the door is open and my husband has full access to seeing everything I do.

I try to block him out.  Most times he is outside but since it has been raining he has been inside.

Trust me when I tell you that he is too young to be retired.  He had many many good years left in him and most people his age are still working.

Why am I telling you this.....because today I was preoccupied with my totes.  I had to measure the corners for the bottom of the totes to square them off.

He was talking to me, I had a ruler in my mouth and a pencil in my hand...I could only grunt at him.

I guess he wanted my full attention .....that is where the door comes in.

Usually it is open...he shut it with the comment....."I won't bother you any more"

I am laughing because all I wanted to do was sew...

.I did not want to go to the store and get him some pepsies...which he wanted me to do in the middle of my sewing.

I did not want to go on a walk right now...I was once again...in the middle of a project.

I did not want to go and see how cute his dog was....I was in the middle of something....

Oh sun...won't you come out, dry up the ground and bring him warmth so he can work outside.

That all being said...I did go on a walk with him and later I did go driving with him to get him some pepsies.....

Good for you!! It's hard to put something down when they ask, but hey, I figure he takes real good care of me, so I need to take care of him too :-)

O gosh. I can identify with this. Mine IS retired. I retired in September and thought I would have another couple of years to put the house in order with new paint, varnish, carpet etc. Uninterrupted time to sort my rood and work on projects to my heart's content. That lasted until January when he decided he could retire too. I'm so glad he did. But does he really have to talk to the TV just loud enough to think he spoke to me? Does he have to call me to watch something that I have no interest in? It's OK. Spring is showing its face and we had 22 sections of fence delivered yesterday. I think he'll be busy, but I'll turn my cell off just in case ~lol~

Haha....trust me, the age doesn't matter. Dad was into his 70s when he retired and nearly drove mom crazy by always being "right under" her feet.

Too funny! He will learn - and hopefully soon!

Been there, done that. Sound like a familiar story to many of us with two retirees in the house. Thanks for the laugh this morning. My hubbie retired first, and as I neared retirement, he warned me -- "You're going to get bored." No WAY!! My quilting keeps me busy, keeps my mind active, gets me up in the morning and keeps me busy all day. And I'd get a lot more done if I wasn't interrupted so often with calls for help or advice.
I'm wishing you a sunshiny day so your husband can work (or play) outside.

Cute. Oh no...this is soon my life as DH will retire this year too. At least my sew room is mine alone. My small sanctuary. I may be fooling myself though as it is right off kitchen. Take care now and enjoy the door...;-)

Funny. Good thing he also has his dog to keep him company and an office to sit in.

OMG! I hear you on this, Barb. Hubs took a year off after retiring from the military before he decided he had to find another job to do (he's now a deputy sheriff again) and I was about ready to knock him out. He wanted what he wanted when he wanted and was bored. Uh, dude, I'm still working full time, dealing with all the kid stuff and trying to get my quilty time in. Needless to say, one day I sat him down and explained he knew how to drive, he could pitch in and do the house work if he was bored (like I tell the kids) or if he wanted to spend time with me, he could help me with my tasks. He began to understand that one person retired didn't mean both and when he thought about it, he realized I was spending the same & even more time with him than when he worked and his perception was skewed b/c he'd had so little demanding his attention. lol - hang in there, he'll get it eventually and you'll find a new balance. :)

LOL Thanks you for my morning smile! Cute story! Husbands can be such a..."problem" sometimes.

Cute story! My sewing room doesn't have a door, not even four walls! An open plan room can have its drawbacks. I'm younger than my hubby by 8+ years so he will retire long before me. Wonder how that will go? Lol

Haha - I have to laugh along...I've heard that same comment (I won't bother you any more...) more times than I can count. On the other hand, tho, when he's watching his scary movie, and I need help with math, or I need a color opinion (more often than I can count), it's always "put that on hold please, and come help me," and he DOES, so I really can't complain. And all those years he was retired before I was? He packed my lunch every morning before he sent me off to work, and he always had dinner ready to serve the minute I walked back in the door (yeah, most days it was all I could do to get my shoes kicked off)...so I guess he's a keeper! hugs to you both! (and just how cute IS his doggie??)

LOL! I too close my door when hubby is home. Just like an office, sometimes one needs their privacy to get things done.

My husband has been retired for a year. I can relate. The rule is they are suppose to come into your world not make you start a new way of living. My husband wants me to stop everything so he can talk. Men...
