If some of you remember, I started practicing my free motion quilting on this quilt the day the movers came to pick up our household goods in Samoa.
I also said I was not going to rip out no matter what but when I got a bunch in the back I just could not stand it and ripped it out.
This will go to my son who is now going to Airborne School. This is a quilt that I don't care what happens to it. I was also told that our servicemen and women should not take anything on deployment unless they are willing to leave it. Who cares if he leaves this one...
I will also say that I learned soooo much and had soooo much fun but there are a ton of bloopers...and oh well....I started this with that very intention...
I think he will appreciate it.
Our household goods are in...will be calling them tomorrow and see if they can bring the items on Thursday.... My husband is AWALL but I think I can handle it...I wanted to play this week but plans can change and well...we are talking about getting Mr. Pfaff back and my stash....oh yes.....
I might be AWALL myself for a few dsys....

Wow! Looks soooo good!
Barb, I think the quilt looks wonderful...
Your free-motion quilting is wonderful, Barb! I don't think he'll want to be leaving that behind anytime soon. BTW The Quilt of Valor got quilted and returned to me yesterday; I posted pictures on my blog. The QoV quilter did a fabulous job!
Happy quilting,
Susan in Texas
First off, you know Son will appreciate the quilt.
I know you put hours into the FM
and I know it takes hours of practice.
And there is no way I'd rip
so what better way for it to end up.
No doubt it will be used and VERY MUCH appreciated even though it's not perfection.
Gee, I wish there were more hours in the day.
Hugs
Gerry
Excellent Barb. You have done a wonderful job.

Barb, the quilting on that quilt looks stunning. Your son will love it so much.
Have fun setting up your new sewing room.
The quilting is beautiful! Glad to hear your things are nearly home.
WOW for practicing free motion, you are a pro! It really looks good! I have to practice more! It's not to awful of a quilt and I'm sure it will be love no matter where it ends up!
OOO HOOOO!! Household goods! How exciting--of course that means a lot of unpacking!! Be sure to stretch and loosen up before ripping through the boxes...have a hot bath ready!
Barb, it looks fantastic! You did a really good job. I know you're glad to get your things. Are they all in or just your temporary things?
Looks good to me. I have never done any of that.
Barb, that top looks great. I love the way you alternated fabrics in the stars.
I would have a hard time leaving that behind.
Your quilting looks great! I like the way you did the shashing. I'll keep it in mind. I am doing my own quilting too and feel good about some of it - others, not so good. Good luck to your son! Is he in the air force? My son is a C-130 pilot in the air force.
I think the quilt is beautiful and so is your FM stitching!! Of course, you can always make another one :0) HOORAY!! It's about time your things have arrived!!

You quilt looks great. I doubt that you son will want to leave it behind.
For me the secret of free motion is the gloves. I must have my gloves on. This looks so cute too!
Lucky boy!
The quilting is incredible. He will really love it.
Fantastic quilt, Barb! Glad Mr. Pfaff is nearly home.
You did a fantastic job!
Don't you just love practice quilts.
Don't kid yourself, he will guard it with his life!
So glad your stuff has arrived! Don't do too much at a time or you won't be able to sew! Have fun setting it all up.
Wow your free motion quilting looks wonderful! I think your son will be treasuring that quilt for years!
The quilt looks great. I love free motion quilting. It took me a while to figure it out, however now it's mostly all I ever use for quilting my quilts. Hugs and have fun setting it all up.
Barb, the quilting on this looks great. I know your son will love it. So sorry about the flat tire. Come on back to Texas...
Barb, I think it is a fine quilt! And I know he won't want to leave it behind!! Have fun unpacking your stuff. Personally, I'd rather not have hubby there for that unless he stays in the garage!
It looks wonderful Barb and I'm sure it will be in his duffle! Are you still doing Thimbleberries Sew Days? Have a happy day!
I think the quilt looks great - you did a good job! Have fun unpacking and fondling! lol
You are being too hard on yourself about the quilting. The pattern is really quite nice. I bet you are completely distracted, though, at the thought of seeing your stash again.
Don't sell yourself short, Ms. Barb. Your quilting is wonderful! The back shows that clearly.
Re: your son who is going to Airborne School, is that at Ft. Rucker?
I think it looks great!!! and you stuff YIPPEE!!!!!!
I think your son will love it. He will get to sleep under one of Mom's hugs. My daughter wants me to send her quilt to her in Korea but now I'm a bit worried. Maybe I should talk to her about the possibility of losing it.
I was wondering if your household goods had arrived yet. I'm sure you can handle the delivery. You might be swamped under a tower of stuff but the only thing that matters is the sewing studio items :)
Good job Barb, ya got to start some where and its great that your son will have something to remind him of Mom. good luck with the sorting of house hold goods.
Give me a call if you can't fit all your stash and gear in the room, I'll hop in the snowmobile and swing by (we've got 10" of the white stuff)
Your FM quilting looks great!
Years ago my son took a homemade quilt with him when he was stationed in a war zone overseas. A neighbor and her husband made it, denim squares and tied. My son said he curled up in that quilt every night because it was from home.
Looks fantastic!!
OMG!!! This is fabulous!! Did you get your stuff??? I'm attempting to catch up.....
Barb, you did a really amazing job. That is just beautiful!

Barb....this "practice" quilt is soooo good! I can't even imaging being able to FM like that yet! Your son will love it.
