So we survived a Hurricane. It did go from a level 3 down to a 1 before the night begun. The only thing that was really creepy was the calm before the big winds. We did lose power but for only about an hour and a half, right at midnight.
This is what the island looks like now.....
This is what my side yard looks like now....
This was what I worked on off and on yesterday.
I took everything off the counters and tables incase the winds came in the house (I didn't know what to expect). I have a 72 hour kit in my hallway, food and important papers in space bags.....my machines are in space bags too....So now it is time to clean up.
Thanks for your care and concern!

BARB!! I am so glad to hear you are okay and no damage to your home... I didn't watch the news last night so I had NO idea....
Is this normal hurricane season for you? the weather is so weird world wide these days.
Stay safe.

Glad to hear you're OK. I can't imagine living where you do! Between earthquakes and hurricanes, you pretty much have to be ready for anything don't you?
Oh, my gosh, I had no idea you were headed into that! Glad you are ok. What items do you put in your space bags? I think I need a back up kit like that. We often lose power here for several hours at a time. It has never been over night (that I was aware) but you never know. Some areas have had several days out at a time. One likes to be prepared. You have been on my mind a lot so I quess I was saying a little prayer and didn't know it. :)
I had no idea that a storm was bearing down on you. So glad to hear that you've weathered it without any major damage. I never thought about using space bags to store important papers, but that's a really good idea.
Glad you are okay. By the way, your text is invisible. But being the geek that I am I was able to work some magic so *I* could read it.
I am literally snow blind!! Seeing the greenery in your photos was wonderful!!! And the fact that you are online means you weathered the storm!!! Glad to hear it!!!!!I had my fingers crossed - hurricanes scare me!!!
Barb. Glad you're OK. What with the most snow ever here in Fort Worth and in D.C., the tragedy in Haiti and the Olympics, bad Samoan weather just isn't getting any coverage anywhere and I'm kind of a news junkie. The last I heard was that you had an earthquake, but that info was from YOU! I'm glad you're OK. Was anyone injured on the island?

Hurricanes scare me too. In my early teens in NY we had a hurricane that took our roof off the house. Thank God we were all in the basement. That nite we all had to go to different houses and I thought my family would never be the same again. I am so glad it has passed and you are all okay. I think you need to come back to the Stayed early!!!
Glad you are okay...That's so scary.

So glad it down-graded before landfall!!! Cat. 1 is bad enough but Cat. 3 is terrible.
Glad you came out all right. The fact you have your machines in space bags cracks me up! I would have never thought to bag up my machine. I survived a hurricane as a kid and we were with out power for a week so a few hours is nothing.
Wow, you miss the news for one day!! I had no idea, I am so glad your are safe, and the house it OK!
So glad to hear you are okay!!! Cat 1 is better then Cat 3 but I hate them ALL!!
Lola
Oh geez, it's awful!!!... I'm glad you're doing ok, and the internet's on for you to keep us uptodated!
Thanks God you are okay! Sounds like you are very prepared to evacuate and machines & fabrics get loaded up first! LOL!
Can't see if mine posted....so, I'll repeat it.
Thank God you're okay. Sounds like you are definitely prepared to evacuate and the sewing machines & fabrics are loaded up first. LOL!
I hope there are no further weather "events" there in AS before you get to head home to Texas!
Barb, glad to know you are ok. Is this the start or end of Hurricane season? I hate hurricanes. Very bad, bad, bad! Glad to know all is ok.

Oh, no! I'm so pleased all is well now - not nice!

I was wondering and after so many comments Mother Nature seems to have given your little area these past few months, I'm glad she downgraded her noise and you are all okay.
Thank goodness you're ok. First you earthquakeometer and now hurricanes? What in blazes is next for you? My hope is nothing but calm weather and seas. Take care of you,
Carolyn
I'm glad you are all right. You are so calm about it all. I'm glad the storm was down to a level 1.
Barb.....glad things have died down and all is calm.
Wow! Just what you needed, huh? Nice to know that you are prepared for this the best you can be. The quilt is looking good ~ a nice diversion from the weather. Glad you are okay.
Barb ...good to hear that you're okay. It sure must have been scary!
How scary! I've been through a 'wind' a time or two, living in Japan and Nebraska, I'm so glad you're all ok. Hey, and you even got to sew? Glad to hear it!
Never a dull moment. I think I could do without the type of excitement you have. Take care.
I'm so happy that you are safe and the storm mellowed out a bit before hitting you. Goodness mother nature sure has been picking on you!!
Crispy
Thank goodness you are ok and so prepared Barb. Stay safe.
Glad it downgraded before hitting the coast. Hurricanes can be very scary. It's pretty weird to be boarding up the house and getting everything ready when the sun is shining outside and the weather is beautiful. It sure does change fast though.
I always thought it was strange when the eye of the storm comes through. We always go outside for a couple minutes to assess the beginning of the damage during the eye. The back half of the storm is always the scariest. That is where the high winds usually are.
Glad everything and everyone is safe!!
Oh, and here I thought it was you living in Paradise! I think from your post that you are always prepared for nature's little uproar's. Winter is weird this year for sure as we here in Ontario, Canada have had (so far, fingers crossed) practically no snow and I look at the storms all over america, and heard on the weather channel yesterday that the only state that didn't get snow was Hawaii, now what does that tell us all?
Your photos were wonderful and as always you share your life so well with us all.
So glad you weathered the hurricane without much incident. (other than yard clean up) Doesn't matter where you live, there is always something to make you crazy isn't there!
On the east coast we are very ho hum about hurricanes. Often they are no worse than a bad thunderstorm. Now give us a flake or two of snow and we panic!
Happy to see that you are okay, and things calmed down! This is scary!! Geez!
Glad all is OK. Our son lived through Hurricane Opal (I think that was the one.) while he was on his mission in Florida. He was so excited to be in a hurricane. After it was over he said "Never again!" Be safe. Hope you had a happy Valentines Day.
Never a dull moment in Pago Pago! Good to see that you would save all of your sewing stuff first! Seriously though, it sounds too scary for me! Glad you are safe!
Hello Barb, glad you are ok after the hurricane....not so sure about Mother Nature...Warm Regards Lyn
