ONE IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER

Where there was one (yes, it needs to be fixed better).....

There is two....because one is the loneliest number...

So I am hoping tonight while I am asleep that these will multiply (like my scraps do)

What are the odds?

Did I really say I was making 60?

Eshhheeeesh....what was I thinking?

101 WAYS TO USE A HONEY BUN?

Here is my square for the Jelly roll quilt along. I am using the Bistro jelly roll sent to my by Quilts by Debi, I just love the colors, thanks again Debi.

Okay, so Gene emailed me and asked what I was going to do with the left over pieces from my honey bun table runner....he suggested a hot pad.

Actually, I had thought to do segments on different ways to use a honey bun, hot pads were in there but....with the extra pieces I made this little cosmetic bag.

Then I wanted to make a matching tote...well....bad sew day...bad bad day...nothing I touched turned out after the jelly roll square....I started a tote...it looked horrible so I cut it up and got this.. to match the cosmetic bag.
I still have more to make from the tote gone wrong. Is that like a love gone wrong? Have this stupid song in my mind...okay where was I???

Then the scraps from the tote, I made this trivet, as you can see, it is not finished yet...I am stopping on these projects for the day...sheweeeee I am just a girl who wants to have fun....and when all goes south...well...there aint no fun to be had.....

Maybe I will just go and cut some little baskets out?

Monday, March 1, 2010

So I was over at Aunt Pitty Pats and she was sharing this adorable little basket.

You can find the tutorial at The Stitching RooM

I asked her permission if I could make about 60 of these for an activity we are having at church for the women's organization celebrating the Woman's Organization Birthday Anniversary (Relief Society). So...the only thing I did different was sew the seams by machine (maybe won't be so bad if I use coordinating thread instead of white)....and she did a cute blind stitch. I don't know if I want to take the time to hand sew the seams shut. What do you think, will it be okay with the seam showing on the outside? Should I use Samoan fabrics, use a jelly roll and have different ones, or use traditional fabrics and just stream line it and get them done faster?

WASN'T I SUPPOSE TO DO A SPRING TABLE RUNNER?

So I have this honey bun......got to thinking.....(yes, trouble is a brewing)....and thinking....and well....this is what I came up with. You won't be able to find this anywhere because it is mine. If you are interested in making this, the instructions are here.

Those precuts are soooo fast and fun. The longest part was fusing the flowers and blanket stitching around them. Didn't take long at all....and if you notice, the heart in the middle is the petals for the flowers. Leave off the flowers and you just have a fast gift for sure!!! As always, the picture does not do this runner justice but....oh well...

Oh....by the way, today (which is Saturday) I have been married for 31 years.... My husband is the romantic in this relationship.....poor guy is stuck with a stick in the mud!!! How he has survived me I will never know...he needs a purple heart, a silver star, something for his perserverance!!!

"BELLY UP TO THE BAR"

And feast your eyes full of these Deletable Moda delights..... (next time I will hand out free slobber rags)....HA!!!

Today I had the mother lode of all headaches, couldn't sleep, rest, so I just sewed....and this is what I did? I just love how it turned out. Wish I had a better picture for you...this tends to be alittle dark. I added the extra row of blocks and finished the border. Now I just need backing material...hummmm

So what did I bake from scratch?

This table runner.

Not a good picture either (needs to be straightened...).... So in the process of using my scraps from the above quilt, I have baked up my own table runner design.....not such a bad day inspite of my headache from beyond. I did made alot of mistakes, I did tare out alot and I didn't work as fast but hey...it is a done deal!!!

Oh....my husband came in and asked why I was making a fall runner....hummmmm, scraps I said, scraps....he did like it but wants a spring one (oh..more fabric you says?.....I can fix that!! No problem)....

All this Moda goodness was curtesy of Inchworm Fabrics. You have your Aster manor by Three Sisters, your Civil War Homefront by Barbara Brackman, and Shangri-la by 3 Sisters....I think I snuck in a Kona bay as well....just love these fabrics and was delighted to put them all into one quilt.

A FABRIC JUNKIE FIX

I told you the other day I was having the fabric shakes....needed more fabric...sooooo bad (not really, look around my room....no want for fabric here) but....in my mind....I just had to have some.

So....... I went to my stash...pullled out all my Kona and started cutting....and cutting.....

To make this...(I know, by the title you were expecting to see material brought.....wrong!!!)

By the way, thanks Mary from Quilt Hollow....you are right, these are so addicting (ooops...there goes that addiction thing again).

I did not stop with My Kona fabrics, I started cutting my Moda fabrics as well (all purchased at Inchworm Fabrics). I decided to do two seperate quilts...and use some of my Japanese fabrics with the Kona (that is reserved for another post later)....but for right now.....here is my Moda in a most delicious array of Fabric feast. Isn't it awesome. I didn't want to do a small quilt...so I added more squares and well...I am going to cut out enough for seven more blocks to make it wider. I just love this. So fun and works up so fast.

I was able to cut a 3 inch strip off of each piece of fabric to get 4 bowties each. Didn't even make a dent in my fabric. I have used about a yard of white so far.

Oh....by the way, got the truck back, went to the Post Office (so those of you expecting things from me, it has gone out today).....and you will be happy to know that I passed up every fabric store on the way home....no more fabric junkie here!!! Atleast for now.....

TIP TOE THROUGH THE TULIPS!!

I know that is what alot of you want to do...just tip toe through the tulips instead of the snow....soon....very soon you will be.
