THIS IS MY BLOG, I CAN WHINE IF I WANT TO!!!!

I was asked to make a green quilt for "either or" baby....they didn't want to know the sex.  For me, it is much more fun personalizing it so I was not to thrilled.

This is what I came up with.

                                                             Notice the diagram below.

                                                             Do the Math!!!

The whole time I was cutting my fabrics I kept thinking that something is wrong with the measurements.  Heaven forbid if I stop what I am doing and actually calculate!

So when it came time to sew....you guessed it, I had to go and chop off a half of an inch.

It pays to make a sample block but in this case no harm was done.

In an effort to give this person an option I did up this panel really quick (which I love)....but they chose the first one.  Oh well...now I have a baby quilt to giveaway.

Right now I have that one special quilt on the longarm....things are  not going good.

This is my blog, I can whine if I want to.

For one, I was up at 2:30 this morning so I decided to start quilting it.  Yesterday I ironed and installed the quilt on the frame before my mother's Dr. appointment and then after and before our grandson came.

The thread keeps breaking which my last quilt I did not have an issue using Aurfil threads...I don't have a color for this quilt in that brand.

Also.....This quilt was given to me 20 years ago, it was partially done.  I hadn't a clue what I was doing when I put it together......do you hear me sobbing here......trust me when I tell you that at some point I wanted to throw it away.  If it was not so special I would have.

the saga continues................

I knew there was a song in this post somewhere, it just came to me. Lesley Gore singing " It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to", Lol. I didn't do the math (numbers make me shiver), but I believe you. I like the bright orange and green!

You have a right to whine anytime, but I don't think you are whining. Simply sharing the facts. All the quilts are beautiful. And you are ahead of the game having a baby quilt ready. Sorry about the thread breaking issues. Never fun.

Oh Barb, hopefully things will get better by the weekend! BTW, I really love that green baby quilt. Green is my favorite color so I'm a bit bias.

I can see why you had to cut that 1/2 inch off. Something I would do too.

I have found that if I run a bead of liquid silicone down the spool in several areas, it really helps with breakage. I use Sewers Aid.

I wish I could see at 2am. I admire your determination to finish it.

Yes you can! I'm terrible at the measuring and cutting part of the quilting. Such lovely quilts in the end so well worth the process.

The Sewer's Aid or some other silicone may help. Just breathe! Slow and easy. If you are frustrated, it just tends to compound the problem.

Thread breaking is frustrating enough during the day but I am sure it is worse during the wee hours of the morning. Hope things get better with that.

Better to have 1/2 inch too long than 1/2 inch too short. :) And whine all you want--we've all had those days when nothing seems to go right. I've learned to just stop working at those times and come back later. Doesn't always work but it certainly helps my sanity!
