WORKING WITH RAYON

As some of you may know, we received 2 1/2 yards of rayon fabric from Island Batik.

Here is the fabric that was sent to me.

Can I say LOVE IT!!!

Rayon is quite slippery so I looked on line and came across this blog

Megan Nielson, DESIGN DIARY.

That is just what I need.

I had actually thought about starching it up real good, still might.

In the mean time, this is what I am working on between keeping my man fed, mowing the lawn, and putting up a fence....a three acre fence.

Good luck with your rayon project. I haven't worked with it at all, but your jobs list is tiring me out - mowing the lawn and building a big fence and cooking. Phew!

Cool fabric!! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Although I have not sewn rayon, one trick I use with "crawly" fabrics is this.
Use a strip of nonwoven fusible midweight interfacing along the seam lines. Once it is fused onto the fabric that bit is stabilized. It may affect the drape of the seam line slightly so do a test piece first and see if you can live with that issue.

I wear skirts just about every day of the week. I have several that I've made out of rayon batik and they are my favorite. Sooooooooo, if you can't figure out what to do with it........send it to me. I'll make good use of it. :-)

I love rayon fabrics. I do suggest sewing with a walking foot to help with that slipping problem. The drape is fantastic.

Mowing and sewing! That's my life, too! Putting up a fence is no easy task! I helped do that for just a side yard.....I'm such a girl! Need I say more? ;)
