SCRAPS ONLY!!!

This is my scrap basket....these are all the scraps I have accumulated since my sewing room has been up and running here.

This is me working on a scrap quilt.  If you have been reading my blog, it is okay to say you haven't...life is busy...but if you have been reading, my sister and I made a quilt a while back.

She used here marblelicious fabrics and made two of these and I used my Samoan fabrics.
This pattern leaves you with a lot of scraps....my sister gave me her scraps and I got 144 small nine patches
Here they are (excluded the row I am working on).  I decided to  assemble them together with my scraps...Scraps only were invited. See how I used my scraps in between four blocks and then took the same and did a border around each block?   After I put the blocks together I decided to put a gray sashing in between them.  We are just playing it by ear at this point.
Same scrap basket after using up scraps (what the stink happened)?  Aren't the scraps suppose to go down?
Then.....I ended up with a small basket of scraps (the makings of another quilt).....

So my question to you is.....WHEN does it end??????

I'm pretty sure it never does! I've been trying to sew up my scraps for 3 years now - they just seem to grow!!!! I absolutely LOVE your little nine-patches - they are too stinking cute!!!

Hee, hee, as far as I've discovered it never ends. All I seem to do is create more and more scraps!

Never! I have learned they multiply while I'm sleeping at night. Gorgeous effort though! :)

How funny. I do think the scraps have a way of multiplying. ;0) But, maybe that is a good thing if you end up with another quilt.

Never ending story...but wow! You have some really pretty scrappy quilts to show for it...I secretly think those scraps breed in baskets and boxes...

Your scraps seem to be related to mine.....my collection multiplies in the dark. Tried giving them away?

NEVER!!!!! I like what you are doing with them so I hope they never end.

You'd think the scraps might decrease someday! Your new quilt is terrific.

hehehe, looks like your scraps are breeding scraps! Which can be a good thing, since that means you will never be without fabric to work with!

It's like laundry, there is always more. But scraps are more fun to play with than dirty laundry!

The only way it ends is if you give them away. Otherwise, you're stuck with them forever, no matter how many quilts you make from them. Although I have seen on some blogs where they do use up what is in the scrap basket. So they say. Secretly, I think they give them away.lol

I think the only way we will not have scraps is if we stop buying fabric, and that is not going to happen. So, I just learn to accept them.

How my scrap basket ended was to box them up and send them to friends.
LOL now I started a new one! but I miss my old scraps! just keep making blocks, I make a lot of nine patches before you know it you can have a queen size quilt with just 3" nine patches!

Never. It's like laundry there is no bottom to my laundry basket, it just reappears.

The simple answer is "never" -- even when I give them away it multiplies.

It never ends, I do believe they breed when the lights are out.

love your quilts...yes, scraps do multiply. I used my Go cutter the other day to cut out some tumblers. I started with one bag of scraps and ended up with 2 bags...go figure! LOL
I think I am going to give them away.
I love stopping by and reading your blog. I do not always comment but I should!

That's the joy of it...it doesn't end! I save even the teeniest scraps because I know I can use them in applique somewhere! I save bigger scraps that are too small for strips, etc. and keep them in a wire mesh garbage can that my granddaughters use when they want to "sew" with me. I let them use tape, staples, and occasionally pins in what they make. Sometimes they ask me to sew something together and it's fun to see what their little minds can create at ages 6, 4, and 3.

I had the majority of mine all cut into small units labeled and found two apple boxes full of scraps in the attic so I am at it again when I take a break.

I try NOT to collect scraps; but, I still seen to end up with plenty.....

They are like dust bunnies, they multiply overnight sometimes!

I have so many scraps in boxes all over the place and I know I will never get around to doing something really fun. With them love the quilt bright and cheerful
