GO FIGURE

Several months ago I spent a lot of time on this quilt, took great pains in quilting it.  The gal loved the quilt but she said that she loved the back more than the front.  Was that a cold rag that slapped my face?

Go Figure!!

In January my family started a block of the month.  We have eleven of us doing these blocks.  We pick a person's name from the basket and that month we all do the block that the person whos name was chosen.  This month my niece chose these barn blocks by "Bee in my Bonnet", we each chose a different barn...this is the one I chose.

My name was chosen last month and my block was "The Tree of Life" at the Quilters Cache

Here are three of the blocks, I have not finished mine yet....

Nope... that was a comment on how clearly she could see the quilting on the back and how much she liked it...

Wow - really? That one would be hard to rationalize. I know it's soemthing you feel proud of though, so don't let someone else spoil the way you feel about your creation! Love barn quilt blocks, but I love the Tree of Life blocks more :)

Barb there is not a picture of the quilt you made your customer. Sometimes I find that the back looks cool, because if it is all one color you can see how cool the unison in the quilting looks.

I like the tree of life blocks. Lots of piecing though.

One of my granddaughters liked the back of one of her quilts better than the front too; but, I think it was because it had great big horses on it. And, very bright colors. Love your family blocks. Nice idea.

Barb, I agree with the above comments, it was a compliment on your quilting. How fun to have a family of quilters. Love your barn. And your blocks are beautiful. What a quilt it will make!

I also feel the slap on the face perspective, but like others I'd like to hope that this person was simply so happy with the quilt and quilting that in her excitement of getting a two-for-one (both sides of the quilt are beautiful) she simply couldn't find words to appropriately convey how she felt.

Beautiful barn quilt center and the tree of life blocks. Going to be an amazing quilt.

I've wanted to make those tree of life blocks, but they certainly test my precision piecing skills. You did an excellent job.

Lots of my quilts end up looking better on the back than the front. It isn't an insult at all. It is a real compliment to your work and creativity.
I remember learning counted cross stitch and being told that the back should look as neat and perfect as the front.
Clearly you have mastered that axiom as a quilter!

I am thinking she really loved seeing all the quilting on the back or hope so anyway. Cute barn but do love the tree blocks best.

That is a slap in the face, I guess. What did it look like? Did you improvise on the back? Love these blocks!

I hear that a lot and it's true that if there's a plain backing on the quilt, the quilting shows up much better, not that it's PRETTIER than the front, just that the quilting often disappears on the front so if that's what you're looking at then the backing is prettier but the fabric doesn't distract from it....... I actually just got that comment today, taking quilts down from a show she said OH WOW look at the back it's so pretty....

I think it was a compliment on your beautiful quilting!! I know I have done some things that I like the back better after it is done. I made a quilt with that barn block and love it.

I hear that often as I sometimes creatively piece the backs for my quilts with scraps from fabrics used in the quilt top, fat quarters or small yardage from stash and orphan blocks. Some of my little guy quilts are backed with ether a solid piece of camouflage fabric or super hero fabric. Moms say the little fellows sleep with the backs of the quilts showing instead of the fronts :D Makes me smile.

Oh, I've done a couple of quilts that I went crazy doing the back and since most of my quilts are pretty simple, it looked really good, and it was hard to tell front or back...where did that one go? I have no idea. She must not be a quilter at all though.

Oh I agree with the others....while it may not have sounded like it, I think she meant that your quilting is amazing! Love your barn block!
