PIN CURLS

When I was a young girl I would take  small strands of my hair and just curl it up like a snail and then put two bobby pins criss cross....those were pin curls....  When I woke up, I would take out all of the pin curls and my hair would be so curly.  Didn't do that very often because it was hard to pin curl my long hair.

A few weeks ago my sister showed me her quilt (Beverly) she had made using the "Pin Curl" pattern by "Me and My Sisters Design".  Beverly used Marblelicious fabrics and boy was it beautiful.

I kept thinking that my Samoan Fabrics would work up nicely with this pattern...and was I ever right!!!

Now back to the sewing table!!

Wow, Barb I just love these blocks. They would look great with some of my blue and white Asian fabrics too! I saw you title and immediately thought of my mother putting pin curls in my hair just as you described. Thanks for the memories!

LOL I remembered those pin curles. I had short baby fine hair and those pin curles were a nightly ritual. Love that quilt and have always wanted to make. I bet in Samoan fabrics it would be lovely.

I do remember pin curls and some type of pink roller thing that you rolled up you hair a push the two ends together and they made pin curls too. I love your quilt blocks the have a tropical feel to them.

Ha ha.. I remember my mother putting her hair in pin curls that very same way. I couldn't imagine how she slept with all those pins sticking into her head. Y'all suffered to be beautiful.

At least the pin curl quilt did not require that type of suffering!

I did pin curls too! My hair takes curl real easily so big swirls were best, otherwise I looked like a poodle! LOL

ps - I too remember pinning my hair for curls. Difficult with long hair and even more so trying to sleep that way. I recall when they came out with pink foamie curlers how much easier it was to sleep and get curly hair the next morning.

You are so right....those are great blocks!!! I love those. I too remember doing my hair like that...but only once because it turned out like cork screws...LOL. My grandmother did that every night and I loved watching her.

Hugs,
Kelly

I really like that pattern. Very cute! Cuter than the hard-to-sleep on ones. What we used to do!

I like the blocks a lot more than the memories I associate with pin curls or the metal curlers that my mother rolled my hair in before them we started using bobby pins. The white makes the Samoan fabric pop.
