MY CUTTING TABLE

I just wanted to take time to show you all my cutting table. It is an old credenza, it has one drawer and one shelf on the inside. I have all of my scrapbooking in there. The top was misplaced in our last move..... My husband wanted to throw it out.

I just couldn't do it....so this is what I came up with.
It doesn't look like much but it is on rollers, so I can move it around for convenience. I put a wood shelf plank on the top and as you can see and my rulers are in the side hole where the plank does not cover the opening all of the way. I love it...If I need a ruler, it is just right there for me and I have them in one place. No more hunting for them.

I love that you re-purposed the credenza and didn't throw it out....you are one smart cookie :)

If it works...don't fix it and it sure looks like it works nicely to me.

Smiles,
Kelly

Good idea! I love the fact that your rulers are easily at hand.

It is certainly a good way to reuse the credenza and it is still a lovely piece of furniture.

It doesn't have to be pretty to work! Good thinking!!

Great idea Barb - and having the rulers right there is perfect. I also like the idea of it being on rollers; I want to put rollers on the one I have but am waiting because it's just a repurposed banquet table and is beginning to "wilt" in the middle (it's really old) so I'm considering buying a new one. blessings, marlene

What a clever idea. Recycling at its finest!

What a clever reuse idea. Do you have rubber shelf liner between the credenza and the wood shelf to keep it from slipping or did you use another method?

Good way to recycle. I hate putting anything like that into the landfill. And I love the idea of having all the rulers right at hand. I am always looking for mine.

Great idea to us it for a cutting station. It looks like it is a perfect height too
and it looks so stable...won't move when cutting!

I say it's awesome! I'm all for repurposing. My cutting table is a counter-height kitchen table that I got a screaming deal on.

In answer to your question, I'm busy but doing well. You know how life goes! I'll be revealing my new sewing room soon. Putting on the last coat of primer on the doors this weekend and then the paint. The room's all painted though and furniture moved in. I'm just waiting for two wall hangings to get back from the quilter's so I can hang them and show the finished room.

I think it looks wonderful. Love the details on those doors, and how handy to have that ruler pocket!

Super way to re-purpose that piece! Hmmm, maybe I need to go thrifting... LOL

Great save. We quilters really know how to improvise!

As long as it works that's all that matters. More and more it seems that we are a throw it away society. Part of it is that so many things are just made so cheaply now. It's great when we can re-purpose and old steady piece of furniture, and if it has wheels all the better.

I think that is super, is it at a good height? I had a table made with drawers in it and special place for my ruler and I love it but it cost me but much better for my back. Have a good day
