I really don't feel like doing much today......hoooooo hummm
So....I am showing you a butter dish that was given to my mother for a wedding gift.
I have always loved her dishes and she said that one day they would be mine...well....I ended up with this one dish....and I so love it.
Next is....this...
I am going to take the plunge.... I have had several bloggers encourage me to do stitchery and for that I appreicate your faith in me..... I have picked some of your brains... Thanks Terry and Tudy!!!
Hope it didn't hurt to bad....
Betsy sent me this pattern....
I really want to do that BOM that is going around but I always always lose steam and never finish them.....sorry Jane...
but I might change my mind.
I found this book that was in my storage, it might give me some hints....
Then this was amoung the magazines...it is really old but looks like it might be great to glean information from.
I do have several other things on my design floor...but.....can't show just yet....in the thinking stage.....smell the fumes....my brain is on over drive....

The butter dish is so pretty I remember my mom having some of these dishes .
Go ahead and try embroidery , maybe if you start with a smaller one ,there are lots of blogs with designs .These gals have lots http://www.gumtree-designers.com/ .
Yippee! Another stitcher! I can't wait to see how it goes for you! And you're welcome! :0)
Hi Barb, with all you many wonderful talents I was surprised to read that you haven't done much or seem to lose steam when doing them. But if you want to do some small and simple ones check out (http://www.birdbraindesigns.net) They have some wonderful, small free designs that are perfect for small pillows, tea towels, or whatever. I have stitched many of their designs. Made the Santa quilt about 4 years ago. Anyway, thought you might enjoy their simple, yet cute designs. They have their free Valentine design up now. Nola
OH the pink butter dish reminded me of my aunt. Her kitchen was pink, including the appliances. Good luck with the stitchery, I'm sure you will do beautiful work. I would think that stitches would change.
Love your Mom's butter dish. Hand stitching is sew relaxing....you'll love it. Keep us posted.
A stitchery is always nice for a change of pace. I believe there is a stitchery in the pattern I sent that would go well with your other chicken accesories.
So glad you decided to jump in and try it. It is easy once you get started.
Trying something new is a sure cure for the ho-hum's.
Enjoy the new direction in stitching. Embroidery is so relaxing - and so portable!
oh dear... you are more than likely to become addicted..... looking forward to another stitcher joining.... the butter dish is very lovely

I think that older embroidery book will be just fine. Needles and thread still work the same old way as far as I can tell.
Congratulations Barb on being named one of the TOP 50 Blogs!!!
Your butter dish is just gorgeous!!!! I am so glad that you have it.
You will love the stitcheries and you will do an awesome job with them. Good luck!!!
I love to do embroidery. It's so relaxing. Plus, when you are done you can add it to a quilting project. Best of both worlds :)
So many decisions! I love the "thinking stage." It's the only part of the process where I'm not making a mess!
Oh let me know how you like embroidary.
I look forward to your stitcheries! You will find them so relaxing.
That 100 embroidery stitch book is a jewel. I don't own it but there is another blog that walks through it. I may need to look on ebay for it!
I love embroidery and cross stitch. I'm hoping to do some redwork. Can't wait to see what you do. I think you'll be good at it.
Beautiful butter dish and how very special that this was a gift to your mom & dad on their wedding day. Very special in deed. Love it!

I think I see smoke! Your brain might be on fire with all those ideas!!!!
That's depression glass, isn't it? I love the pink, the green not so much. You're going to love hand-stitching. It's so restful and looks so wonderful and delicate when it's done. Nothing can compare. Just take your time and enjoy the process.
Happy stitching,
Susan in Texas
PS Waiting for the storm of the decade to hit. Big ice storm coming our way. Yuck! Looks like I'll be taking a vacation day tomorrow. I don't drive on ice if I can help it, and tomorrow I can help it!
I'm with you on the stitchery projects. I love the look of them, but just can't seem to get my stitches looking right.
I'm like Susan, looks like Depression Pink glass. very lovely and managed to survive all your moves too.
We are also awaiting the storm so have fabrics lined up for today.\
Must go see now that you are one of the 50 most popular blogs...congrats. \i love coming here.
Love that butter dish. I think we had one just like it when I was a kid. Go ahead. Take the plunge. Stitcheries are very relaxing and usually you only need to know a few stitches.
For feeling Ho Hummm you are getting things started and you are having fun playing with your books and such. Your stitchery will be a fun new adventure :0)

Lovely butter dish. Such a pretty shade of pink!
Have fun with the embroidery.
I love your pink dish! So lovely! Enjoy the stitching, it's very cute.
I love your butter dish. My dog has recently turned into a butter thief and I have determined that I need a butter dish. After seeing yours, I want to go to the antique market and search for one.
