SOON VERY SOON......I WILL BE LEAVING THIS....

For Quantico, Virginia....even tho I am excited for the next chapter in my life, I will truly miss my friends in Amerika Samoa and the warmth of the sun.....

To be honest, I am related to lizards, when it gets cold outside I slow down....

and look for a warm rock to lay under.

Wish me luck.... still don't' know when we are leaving, we leave for Amerika Samoa tomorrow and next week will be a week of planning so who knows but I will be sure to check in and hope those that live close to where I am going will check in and maybe we can plan a get together.

So Quantico is your next post/assignment? Hopefully it will be spring and you won't have to transition into really cold weather.

It definitely is a rough time of the year to be heading north!

I'm so glad you had a chance to live in paradise - even if for just a little while. Now you get to see the beautiful Atlantic!! Have a safe and peaceful trip =D

Wow, that is going to be quite a change of pace. Good luck with the packing and moving, it is such a lot of work.

Sounds like another adventure in store for you, Barb! Virginia is just lovely, and it's not too far south, not too far north so nice weather without extremes. How exciting for you!

Oh Barb, we are getting closer to each other. Illinois~~ Virginia.
I know it will be hard to move. But with your wonderful personality, Virginia will soon be home.

Barb, what a gorgeous photo! I bet you will really miss the island and your friends. What a gorgeous state Virginia is and I bet you will really enjoy it there. Bundle up, I think they have snow.

Deanna said...

Well, crumb! I was hoping for a whole lot closer than Virginia. But at least Virginia is relatively warm. And you will be in the Continental US. And, I am certain there is at least one good fabric store there. Do take care and keep us posted.

It's seems to be all happening now - hope you get sorted and settled in to your new home in plenty of time for the holidays... I know you will miss friends and of course the climate and surrounds... but you will carry it with you forever in your heart. You'll be back to four seasons, which is nice. And just think of all the historical places (think quilt museums) you will be able to see on the East Coast. And there's bound to be a most excellent quilt guild in the area. And even more excellent bloggers. Speaking of bloggers, you are already so far away from a lot of them, so that won't change! Still, I will pray for special quilty friends IRL (in real life) for your new home. And don't forget massive proximity to LQS's!

Barb, we'll be here for you so you don't get lonely.
I know it's hard and scary to move, but it won't be long until you make new friends and you'll be part of the gang again. Until then, you can talk to us anytime! Quilty hugs, Linda

Oh, my ! ! ! Barb.
of course, I'll wish you luck.
Lots and loads of luck on this step toward yet another adventure.
You will keep up abreast with every little thing, I know you will.

Aren't we so lucky to live in a time where distance is the space between our fingers and the keyboard.

Ain't bloggin' GRAND ????

hugs from this GO!er to another GO!er on the GO.

HOLD THE PHONE!!!!!! Do you mean you are going to LIVE in Quantico???? YAY! If I read this right.....I hope I did, you will be moving to VA.....oh my gosh, I can't think straight LOL....I dont' think it will be too far for you to get here! or we could meet at the quilt store in VA- Ginny Beyer, or there are some in Alexandria, and Annapolis- of course up here in Gaithersburg too- too many to talk about ;) I hope I am right, that you really are coming to VA fondly, Sandy

Gene Black said...

You can certainly count on some cold weather in Quantico. Brrr! That is Northern Virginia.

Still, you should be able to find a lot more quilting supplies in that area! Yaay for that.

Darn, I was hoping for Seattle so we could meet up. Virginia will be lovely too and at least you now know were you will end up :0)

I'm glad to hear you know where your next home will be. While you will miss your friends you will make new friends because you are that kind of person. Just turn the heat up and so you can make more quilts.

Susan said...

Best wishes to you in your new home, Barb! Quantico will sure be a big change from Amerika Samoa, but I know you will make the best of it wherever you are! :o)

Barbara said...

Wishing you the very best, Barb! I think you may find yourself in the back yard of some of your blogging pals in VA.

Yvette said...

Well, look on the bright side. You will be able to sleep under many quilts now. ;)

Congratulations on knowing where you are going next. At least Virginia is closer to Texas than American Samoa.

Mary L. said...

At least you will still be near the ocean and you'll have more quilt shops too. Take care and don't overdo with the packing

Robin (rsislandcrafts) said...

I'm sure you will miss all your friends in Amerika Samoa but like you said you will be starting a new chapter in your life. Now you will be closer to all your quilting stores/supplies but you will be away from all the gorgeous fabric. You will be closer to your boys and hopefully will see them more. Now comes the "fun" part of deciding what to pack and what needs to find a new home.

Kim said...

Life is going to be a flurry of activity for a while, huh. Happy packing! :-D

pajudie said...

You'll be about 5 hrs from me. One of my daughters lives in Virginia Beach. Bet you have mixed feelings about leaving Samoa but at least you'll be close to the ocean :o)

I can simpathize with you about the cold but it's coming on here already.

Wish I lived closer to Virginia. Best wishes for your move. I would have to leave a warm place like Amerika Samoa. I think I am related to a lizard too. Lovely photo!

Terry said...

Congratulations on finally knowing where you're going! You'll be about 7-1/2 hours from here...does that make us neighbors? LOL

Linda B said...

Will Quantico be your permanent location for awhile? I have a friend who lives there and wants to learn how to quilt. I am going to teach her a simple block at thanksgiving time. She just learned to sew and is going gangbusters.

Suzanne said...

I was sad when I left Western Samoa..the friends, lifestyle, ocean just outside your door. Virginia will be a new wonderful adventure for you!

At least now you know where you will landing!

Safe travels, and keep us posted. :)

Wow, a move. I hate the packing part! That will be great if you meet bloggers near you in Va. Do you move around because of your husband's work?

Deb said...

Oh what a life change! How long have you lived in American Samoa for?

I, too, am a sun bunny and hate the cold. It gets pretty cold where I live...never gets snow...I refuse to move where it snows! I still have my electric blanket on my bed and it's supposed to be summer in a month! lol

Good luck with the move.

God be with you on your new adventures, new friends, new opportunies and newly opening doors. :) ~hugs~ We'll still be here on the internet for you!

We will almost be neighbors! My son lives in Reston Va close to Dulles Airport Pat Sloan also lives down there in Herndon. Gyleen Fitzgerald wrote about 2 great guilds in that area but I don't remember their names. I will e mail her if you are interested. Are any of your family in this part of the country? Will be so nice to finally meet you

You have to get together with me!!! :)

Barb,

You will "love" it in Virginia. So much for you to see and so many quilting places to go to. You will be one busy and happy person once you start getting around down there.
Happy Quilting!

Rumi said...

Virginia is beautiful! I hope you will be happy there. Nice to finally know where you are headed huh!

Sarcastic Quilter said...

I'm with the other ladies nearby here... We are DEFINATELY going to get together. I don't care if we have to have a mini-retreat in my country shack we will do it and enjoy it! LOL

Of course, I AM trekking to Hampton, VA for the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show in Feb., I have family that will put me up there so we will have to make a plan to meet up with whomever else is there, like Erzbat!
YAY!!!
