A friend was wanting a Samoan baby quilt and was wondering if I had one on hand....I told her I didn't but could make one quick. I did but with no strings attached because I could just put it in my store...which I did...she wants it more Samoan looking. No big deal, I am easy but I tell my husband that I am not that easy.
As I was pulling out fabric, the many ideas took several twist and turns, going back and forth to my husband....then finally deciding on the colors above. Deciding to do a nine patch with a sashing but once again it took a turn for just the checker board look. It was amazing to me what a rush I got out of the process and watching it all come into play. Making the fabric sing and boy was it singing. This is just a simple pattern, many have done it before me so it is no big deal.....the big deal is the process of creating, the thinking, wondering how it would look this way or that way. I think that is why most of us do what we do, it is the process, the love affair with fabric. You take away my fabric and I am lost.
Enough of my mutterings....below is the back to the quilt.

SHAME ON ME SUNDAY!!!
<
This is picture of the quilt that has been in the making for over 6 years.....all it needs is about 2 hours or more of hand quilting......think I can get it done?
As a side note: I found this awesome fabric below....it feels ooohhh so nice 100% cotton and I put it in my artfire store. Also, some of you commented on that green fabric, I have it in my store as well. Infact, I have both the cotton below in 5 yards and the green I have a ton of it. If you are interested, go check it out and then put it in your cart but don't pay for the order until you talk to me and maybe I will cut you a deal because you are my blogging buddy.

SWEATING BULLETS
Because of this:
and not being able to finish this:
But I found a little spool of white (not much) but I was able to finish.
I chose a blue for the backing because the little gal that is getting this quilt loves blue. I do not do my binding the way most quilters do...sorry....am I going to be handcuffed and taken away?
Over at Quilting in Oz she is doing the chicken dance but I am doing the happy dance because I was able to get another project out of the way....and my mother is sending me some more white thread...Gotta love the mommies out there!!! They take care of their babies...even when they are big and have babies of their own.

OH WHAT FUN!!!!
My husband had gone to bed early one evening, so I tiptoe into our room and pull out this night shirt, I have not worn it since on island but in the dark, who cares. So the next morning.....this is what I saw......
Once again, the light bulb goes off.....and the thought just won't leave me....I really am a nag....that thought just kept nagging at me until I came up with this....
I still have to put the face on the house shoes and I am going to make the quilt bigger and put the wording on the sashing...we will see, still in the works....sooooooooooooooooooooo I have been trying to find this company so I can have rights to this pattern....I think it is so fun....but that copyright stops me from doing anything further with my idea.....so it will just hang on my wall....but this hanging suits me perfectly.....If anyone knows anything about copyrights and what I can do, please let me know!!!

HIGH FIVE ME!!!! ANYONE FOR A HIGH FIVE?
Got my camera back....(hand up in the air)....any takers....
So...here is what I have finished. Yes, I know, I had made this table runner for a friend back in February but her birthday came and went (I went out and brought her a gift, didn't think she would like this..... but finally totally completed (last week).....whoooooooo.....
You all saw this one recently, the Disappearing Nine Patch, made from left overs....totally completed..... (Hand in the air again....) Slap!!!
This next picture is the nice backing for the above quilt. I found this at one of the stores here, it is not 100% cotton but it is oooooohhhh so nice...you see those flowers, they are rasied (almost like velvet but not).
As you saw this a week ago, it is now totally completed after four years in the making.....I decided to finish it after posting my weakness of not completing projects.
I would have another done but the tension on my machine is messed up and so no stippling until I can fix it....I spent over an hour taking out stitches (isn't that the pits)? Now I have this one quilt, that is about seven years old, all it needs is about 2 to 3 hours of hand quilting...surely I can do that? surely? Maybe if I show you a picture of it later on this week and shame myself, I will get it done? No high five on that one...

Flower Origami Quilt
There are 125 folded flowers, it took me 16 hours to fold them. It took me 15 minutes to sew each flower down. This quilt was alot of work. I just had 6 flowers left to sew down, when my friend came over with her quilt and she insisted I keep at it until I was finished. Thanks to her, I was able to finish a quilt top that had been in process for about 4 years.
Used my new tool, it works great!!!
Almost completed.....my thread keeps breaking when I stipple...so I am at a stand still. I was hoping to be finished but....soon. Oh....I am not able to tell you what book or pattern this is because the book is in storage...sorry that I am not able to give credit where credit is due.

I DIDN'T KNOW
That there was actually a site that had a 9 patch challenge....I just said I would at the Quilting Sisters site....but if you are interested go to Crazy Mom's
So....when I did the disappearing 9 patch....my minds eye saw all those 6" 9 Patches I had made.....I kept thinking (very dangerous), and thinking...and thinking...oh I wish that creative voice would be quite!!!!.............. Voices...does anybody hear voices? ............ SHUT UP IN THERE!!! (I am allowed to be rude to myslef). Well, that voice won out and I started slicing and dicing my 6" 9 Patches. No turning back now. So I sliced one block in half (the other side is already sewn to another block)
Then sewed two different halves together...like this...or turn them around, any way...it is not important, just pick up and sew
Then cut in half again...like this
Then sewed together like this....again, arrange any way.
Then you get this....
This is the quilt that was missing a block, so I just made another one....and in that process decided to keep going and make this a full sized quilt, even if it takes a while to get enough 9 patches. I love the beauty of each block, the colors that fit so nicely together. Below is an up close of a few of the blocks.

ANOTHER DAYS WORK

EASY...EASY....DID I SAY EASY?????
So today I went over to Jane's Fabrics and Quilts, and she suggested I go to Aunt Pitty Pat's for another block swap. Now this is one of those cases like in the movies where the villian is behind the door and the main character of the show is coming with a ball bat to look behind the door (and you know that the person with the bat has no chance in Haties to survive and that person knows better than to look but just can't help it)....and you want to SCREAM!!!!! Don't look behind that door.....run...run..... Well...You guessed it, I went and looked.....No one told me not toooo!!! And I just couldn't help it...like some magnetic force pulling me in that direction.
Sooooooooooooooooooo....I joined another block swap. I tried to tone down my colors. In the tutorial for this swap, she has many different colored block, I just chose two colors. So this is the 9 Patch. Each little square in the big square is 5 inches. This is called the Disappearing 9 Patch.
Then you slice and dice it to get this.
To achieve this: You just move the squares any which a way...and ta dah!!!
Go on over to Aunt Pitty Pat's and see her take on these blocks and look at the tutorial and then yes.....sign up....you don't need a bat or someone to scream at you...just sign up. Join in the fun.

IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE" QUILT BY PAT SLOAN
I made a few variations to her quilt, but...that is not the problem. My husband does not like this quilt....so before I do another stitch on it, I am wondering if I should continue it or start over? All that is left is blanket stitching around the letters.
Please note, that we do not drink in our house, nor do we promote the use of alcohol. Like I said in a previous post, this is for a friend and co worker from where I used to work. She is known for her leaving the bank and going to Am Vets...for her drinking and it was quite the joke at work, with her there....don't want you to think we were talking bad about her behind her back. She was just the party gal in her 60's.

STILL WORKING ON MY TEXAS QUILT
I switched it up a bit...not much...I didn't like the four squares in the corner being white so I made them blue....so not too much of a switch.
I am also trying to catch up on Friday's block party...you can see those squares on my shared quilting blog with my family, QUILTERS CORNER and my FOREVER GREEN QUILTS BOM also.... Added to all of this, I am working on my quilt of Valor, have 11 squares completed and now for my nine patch, I have 45 squares. Not too bad and....... if you look below at the Halloween block swap, I finished those and sent them in today. Sheweeeee, it seems like I don't have anything to show for myself, no completed quilt or project....hummmmm one day...just one day.

Jane over at "Jane's Fabric and Quilts" is having a Halloween themed block swap. Screech on over there and spy out her rules. Come join the fun!! Below are my two blocks that I am doing. You have to make 12 Nine patch blocks 12 1/2 inches, and then 12 themed blocks.
Also if there are those of you out there that think you are not good enough and that is keeping you from doing this.....well....I just did a block swap and I felt I was not good enough, worried and fretted but...............when I got everyones block....do you think for one minute I went over it with a fine tooth comb? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! The blocks were awesome just the way they were....so...come join the fun.....(I am a fine one to tell you not to fret and worry because I still do but atleast I am not letting that stop me...so go on over).

6" 9 PATCH BLOCK A DAY CHALLENGE
Over at the Quilted Sisters (see side panel) I took the nine patch challenge. I have seen this on others blogs and well....I decided to do it....so.....one block turned into
two blocks which turned into
21 blocks....
Believe it or not, I took the challenge this last Friday.... Like Lays potato chips, you just can't eat one....I just couldn't stop with one block....I just kept going .........and going....and going....now I am the energizer battery (watch too much TV). What is nice is, they go so fast that while I am waiting for some of your blogs to pull up on my screen (not the fasted internet), I can work on these while waiting. These are just from Friday and Saturday...no Sunday sewing for me....it is my day to rest and read.......rest and read.....maybe eat in between.....look at your blogs....rest and read some more.
