A QUILTER IS ALWAYS PREPARED!!!!

Sandy was worried that I would not have any fabric to play with on my new machine.

NO WORRIES...Sandy!!! I had all of this in my suitcase or......

IN THIS......yes...all the way from Samoa to Texas....at least I didn't have it strapped around my body when I went through the scanner....wouldn't that have been a hoot?

missing are a ruler and quilt top (gotta find them...). Beverly, you and momma don't have them?

Next are the items I left in Texas over the summer at my sons.... oh yesss...things are coming together. Now for a person who has not quilted long, don't go and buy these cheap cutting mats at Walmart, I did because I had a better one in Samoa. I would say, even if it is more and money is tight, buying a better one is worth it in the long run...the markings on this mat are coming off.

A little splurge at Accuquilt'a Deal of the Day...thinking I would have my go by now....hummmmmm

Yes, my mother, sister Beverly, and I were at Joann's clucking like a bunch of chickens and squaking over the coupons my sister had. But in the end...we each felt like we laid the golden egg from all the money we saved. Ohhhhhh yessss...grand day indeed!!

Thanks to Darlene for the coupons, another trip to Joann's got me this...

The thread came with....

this.....

So....yes...quilters know to be prepared and now the day has come to play....see you all later!!! Maybe!!!

I can't agree with you more about the cutting mats. I've used the Olfa brand for 25 years and have been VERY happy with their mats and cutters. My first mat did not even have any markings on it ;-) We've come a long way!

Can't wait to hear what you think of your new machine. Santa said I could pick something nice for myself for Christmas and I don't know where to begin.

Oh yay! Even when I am not sewing, I HAVE to have the stuff around me-it relaxes me just to paw over everything, and plan....LOL. (This must be a sickness) anyway, I am MUCH calmer now knowing you are not naked- which is how I feel without the tools, fabrics, and a magazine! love, Sandy

I don't think you are staying in a hotel room, as much as you have a new sewing room. Love your new Mr. Big.

I bought a cheapie mat the other day. I know better but figure it only has to last a month or two.

You'll have to tell me what you think of the mini iron and the batting. I've been wondering about the mini iron for a while now.

I'm also too chicken to try new battings. I don't know why but they intimidate me.

So glad you are prepared with some fabric and ready to break in your new machine. It looks like it could sew through anything. Did you find a spot to set it up?

Woo hoo! She was prepared for an emergency sewing situation! FEMA could take lessons from you Barb!
As for anything from Walmart..ick, gag, puke. That's my story anyway. ;)

It's like an Easter Egg Hunt! Gathering bits and pieces from all over in order to get your fix. Come to think of it, bits and pieces is the whole point, isn't it? :-)

Love your adorable purse Barb! Looks like you really scored, can't wait to see what you make on that new machine. You know the best time to buy the good Olfa mat is around the holidays when you get 50% off and then another coupon for 20% off of your whole purchase. That's how I bought mine.

I wasn't worried about you at all! I knew you'd be taking care of some quilting business. I didn't think you'd go as far as buying a new machine though!

LOL, you are the TRUE QUILTER!! :) So, exactly how many bags did you travel with?? :)

Oh, a sewing day, how cool! Barb, I've looked at that Janome Horizon since Leah Day gave all her shopping pros on it. It looks like a dream. Lucky you!
