WHAT'S IN YOUR ATTIC? You show me yours and I will show you mine!!

If you have been reading my post, you will know that when we moved here we found a bunch of antique quilt squares in my attic.

Here are some butterflies.  Whoever did this used the zigzag stitch.

......not that I don't have enough projects going on but I decided to put these together.

Here are the pink butterflies, there are five in each color.

The question is, do I do them all with the pink corners or do I use fabric that matches each butterfly.  I have 17 different color variation of the pink flower fabric.

Do I stick with the pink only or try to match up the butterflies to the fabric?

Then....

Here is my finished "Accuquilt Go" doggie top.

I am really amazed at how fast this went even with my grandson romping around my sewing room.

As mentioned before, the doggie squares are all Island Batik fabric.  I purchased this "Woof Woof" fabric a while back so I can't tell you where I brought it...sorry.

I used Aurifil Thread #2318  2EQ......  I have to tell you that I am getting spoiled with this Aurifil thread, very little lint and I love the look of the blocks with the blanket stitch.  I also just sewed the squares together with the same thread.

Cute little doggie?

Speaking of Threads, did you get the notice that Superior Threads is getting rid of their Rainbow line  in favor of their Fantastico line?  I told you how much I love Fantastic threads.  Anyways they have discounted the Rainbow line....

Happy Father's Day to all of you Dad's out there!!!

MODERN BATIK CHALLENGE - What is your favorite Thread?

                                          Modern Batik

I must confess that I am not the modern kind of gal, I am country at best.  These modern challenges are hard for me but they do stretch my imagination so that part I do like.  I hope you all get a chance to go over and see all of the fabulous designs the Island Batik ambassadors have made.  If you look at the post below this one, there is a list for you.

So......drum roll....

Here is my modern design for this month.

I used all Island Batik Fabrics except for the binding.

I used Aurifil thread  #5001 for the blanket stitching.   Have any of you used Aurifil threads before?
What is your favorite thread?

I do love the Aurifil threads, the threads that were sent to me by Island Batik are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome.

As you can see a lot of them are still in the wrapper.....why?  I am waiting for a special project to use them on.

Here is some Superior Threads......  Now I love these threads as well.

I love the Fantastico line for sure,  I did a project using that line of thread and loved it so much that I went on their website and ordered me some more....these that you see here were sent to me by Island Batik.  Superior Threads sends out a newsletter giving you all kinds of useful information about needles and threads as well.

I had used Connecting Threads for a long time and loved how sturdy it was to quilt with, very little needle breakage but a lot of fuzz on the needle and in the bobbin casing.

I use Sulky, Gutermann, Coats & Clark, and Needle Art for my embroidery machine.  I have used Superior Threads on my embroidery machine as well and it worked our really nice.

So, my question to you is what is your most favorite thread?  Is there one that you like that is not listed here?

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

It is hard to believe that Christmas will be here before you know it.

When did July happen?

So this month for the Island Batik Ambassadors it is "Christmas in July"!!

!!

I hope I can get more than this runner done but....

as we know

LIFE HAPPENS!!!

"Ringing Bells"

You can find the pattern on the Accuquilt site  or my personal craftsy site
The fabrics used in this is "Holiday Happenings"
As you can see there are a lot of lovely fabrics to chooose from.
Island Batik sure makes some awesome fabrics.

I also used Superior threads, did I tell you that I am in love with their threads?  Fantastico is the
thread line I used.

This runner is really easy to make and even easier with the Accuquilt Go.

It is 100 degrees and thinking
of Christmas somehow makes it
cooler outside (yep...all in my head)....

PS....can't you just see this design as a wedding present with their names or even on the tables as decoration?

MODERN QUILTS - ISLAND BATIK AMBASSADOR CHALLENGE FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE

I have to say that when we were told that

the Island Batik Challenge for this month was

Modern Quilts!!

I was perplexed!!!

Just what constitutes a modern quilt?

I searched the internet

Pinterest

Asked Friends

Family

and still couldn't come up with anything.

I had several ideas but nothing seemed right.

So here is what I came up with

"FREE SPACE"

I used a Crystal Cove Charm pack by Island Batik and
eight 10" squares of Desert Rose by Island Batik.
I also used my accuquilt go cutter and the Circle Die #55012
Used Fantastico #5144 thread by Superior Threads for the blanket stitching, they are having a sale on their fantastic threads as we speak.

To be honest, I was not even sure about this and was worried I was wasting my Crystal Cove charm pack.

Even when I was quilting it I was not sure.

But....

and I say But....

when I put the binding on.....

all my worries faded away.

I am hoping to make a quilt out of this one day

not anytime soon but one day.

I think I need to go back to Samoa to be able to sew and blog like I used to.  Life tends to be quite busy.

I have done another Sun Bonnet Sue quilt  Samoan Style

Here are the other Island Batik Ambassadors who have posted their Modern
 Quilt for the month

GREAT PROJECTS, GREAT THREADS

It is dew berry picking time but I did find time to make this adult bib.

My cousin asked if I could make some.

I said of course....

I just had to find a pattern...and I did.

What an easy pattern and great directions.  Thanks Michele!!!

Next on my list was a Walker Caddy for my mother

For some reason she thinks she can carry her soda (big gulp) mind you where ever she goes with her walker.  Which....yes, you guessed it....the soda lands all over the floor.

Well....

.Now she has pockets to put her big gulp in.  Needless to say she is thrilled and so are my floors (my sister's floor).

I got the pattern from Maui Rainbow

Once again great instructions but I didn't follow them...just wanted the measurements.

I put a button on each side of the walker caddy and sewed a hair bob on the other side and brought it around the button.  Works great for keeping the walker caddy in place.  I know, mine is not as pretty with all of the ribbons and bows but hey..

.call me lazy.

All I can say is it works and she is happy.

Now I want to mention this awesome thread from Superior Threads.  It is called Fantastico

I am using this thread on a project for the Island Batik Fall Catalog (which I can not show you).

This thread is AAAAA mazzzzzing.  I love these threads, smooth as silk for my blanket stitching, doesn't break or fray.  Had a great time using this thread.  Truly is Superior!!!!

Nope..didn't get paid to say that.....
