FOX ON ROCKS? FOX ON TREES?

I am happy to tell you that I have only one of the five quilts left to bind.  It is a bugger, will try to finish it today.

Unfortunately, I am only able to show you two of the quilts.

Here is one of them.

I am not much of a red person but I like how the border just fits right in with all of the foxes.

You do know if you are SHORT, that it stinks to be SHORT????

I had to go and get my step stool and carry it around with me while trying to decide how to takes photos of this quilt.

When I was making the Fancy Forest quilt I said to myself after making the fox block that one day I was going to make a fox quilt.  I am so thrilled with how it turned out.

I used Island Batik scraps (again)......   You just need 2 1/2" x 18" for the actual fox, the black and white fabric don't take much either.  Trust me when I tell you that I had left over bindings that worked great, left over scraps large enough to cut down to 2 1/2"....

I used Aurifil Grey, White, and Red 50 weight threads.  I do get thread in my box from Island Batik but I also buy a lot from Hancock's of Paducah or on amazon.  I am trying to get a stash up but in the last few weeks I have gone through one spool of grey and have almost used up a spool of off white and I call it a light yellow brown  # 2310...  Oh well...I do know how to order online, much to my husband's dismay.

These last few weeks have been so fun in my sewing room.  It is not often I can just spend a lot of time in there.  I am trying to get all five of these quilts finished before I move on to other projects.  I am dying to do the Ocean by Elizabeth Hartman, I have an idea for my Sept challenge with Island Batik, well...you know...more projects you want to do than have time for.

Hope you all have an amazing week-end.

SO MANY CHOICES WITH THIS SCRAPPY QUILT!

This Scrappy quilt is 99" x 99"....how I came up with that heaven only knows but I love love how it turned out.
I wonder how this would work on my king size bed????

So................ I had such a debate about this quilt.

What color to make the sashings.....white, yellow, black???  Ended up with gray and I so love it.

Then the next debate was whether I should do a fancy border or just plain stripes.  As you can tell the stripes won out.  I felt if I made a fancy border that it would just become a UFO and besides this is just a Utility quilt, not a show quilt.

Next debate, should I do fancy quilting or just meander the puppy???  Once again, if I chose to fancy quilt it it might become a UFO.  Meandering would take less time and get the job done.  I will confess tho I was so tempted to do some fancy FMQ and still wish I had of but for the sake of time....I think I made the right decision.

Now on to pillowcases.

I also wrote down my time when I was meandering it on my domestic machine.  It took me four hours and nineteen minutes to quilt it.  It took me an hour to sandwich, iron, and add to the batting and about an hour to put the binding on.  So we are looking at a little over six hours from start to finishing the quilt top.

SCRAPPY HAPPY

About six years ago I made this quilt top from scraps.

Many times I have gone to quilt it but realized that it is one row wider than it is long.

So for six years I have been too lazy to fix it.

Fast forward to yesterday.

Got this quilt out.  Counted squares.

I thought to myself....hummm  Barb when did you fix this quilt??

The whole time I am getting the backing and batting ready to quilt I am thinking....and I might say, thinking real hard.....

When did I fix this quilt?

So.........................fast forward to quilting it...... went to count the squares to know when I could flip it  under the machine to make it easier to quilt.
Yes, you guessed it, NOT FIXED>>>>>>

So...what we have here is a failure to count properly?

Oh well....

Talk about fun....I am so "Scrappy Happy" here I could just run around in circles....

I  will say I used the wrong fabric fusible, each time my needle would hit one of the hearts my thread would fray and then break a few seconds later.  YEs, had tons of thread breakage.

When I got done, I had one wrinkle in the back, I thought I was being careful and checking.  MISSED ONE!!  It is staying.

So...........no temper tantrums even with all of the thread breakage.

A few times I was just going to wad it up and put it in the corner but I told myself that if I did, it would never get done.  So I pushed through and finished it up.

These scrappy quilts are just fabulous, especially when they evoke so many memories....
