FOX ON ROCKS? FOX ON TREES?

I am happy to tell you that I have only one of the five quilts left to bind. It is a bugger, will try to finish it today.

Unfortunately, I am only able to show you two of the quilts.

Here is one of them.

I am not much of a red person but I like how the border just fits right in with all of the foxes.

You do know if you are SHORT, that it stinks to be SHORT????

I had to go and get my step stool and carry it around with me while trying to decide how to takes photos of this quilt.

When I was making the Fancy Forest quilt I said to myself after making the fox block that one day I was going to make a fox quilt. I am so thrilled with how it turned out.

I used Island Batik scraps (again)...... You just need 2 1/2" x 18" for the actual fox, the black and white fabric don't take much either. Trust me when I tell you that I had left over bindings that worked great, left over scraps large enough to cut down to 2 1/2"....

I used Aurifil Grey, White, and Red 50 weight threads. I do get thread in my box from Island Batik but I also buy a lot from Hancock's of Paducah or on amazon. I am trying to get a stash up but in the last few weeks I have gone through one spool of grey and have almost used up a spool of off white and I call it a light yellow brown # 2310... Oh well...I do know how to order online, much to my husband's dismay.

These last few weeks have been so fun in my sewing room. It is not often I can just spend a lot of time in there. I am trying to get all five of these quilts finished before I move on to other projects. I am dying to do the Ocean by Elizabeth Hartman, I have an idea for my Sept challenge with Island Batik, well...you know...more projects you want to do than have time for.

FANCY FOREST BY ELIZABETH HARTMAN

What is wrong with me?

Two post in two days?

Here is one of the five quilts that needed to have a binding put on.

Today I got three of the five quilts all done. YEA ME!!!

Don't you just love this quilt? I know I do. I love Elizabeth Hartman's Patterns. This one is called Fancy Forest which I purchased on amazon. I recently purchased her Ocean pattern as well. I am not good with small pieces but I confess I think I am getting better.

She gives very detailed directions. At first you look at her patterns and go..OH NO>>> I am not doing that. But she breaks it down to where it is doable.

I used Flea Market by Island Batik, and Aurifil #2835 thread.

I had planned this to be Septembers Island Batik Challenge but it didn't fit within the rules so...I just finished it anyways. My daughter in Law saw it and said with much enthusiasm that she wanted me to make her a quilt just like this one. Well...how could I refuse her this one. I am going to pet it a while before I give it to her.

Just call me a fabricfile....ha ha...

LIFE'S SIMPLE PLEASURES

A few weeks ago my cousin text me on facebook and told me of a gal getting rid of her fabric stash.

Needless to say it didn't take me long to get in contact with her.

She was charging 10 dollars for whatever you could fit into a laundry basket (ones she purchased at the dollar store).

So I picked up my cousin and we drove to her home. Sorry to say that most of the "Good Stuff" as the owner put it was gone.

POOEY

I did manage to find several yardages and a lot of remnants bigger than fat quarters.

I filled up three baskets then put them all in this tub.

Then she asked if I was interested in zippers, She was selling them for 50 cents a piece. Was I interested? She could probably tell by the slobber on my chin that that was a silly question.

Life simple pleasures for sure.

Then I went to an antique store here in town looking for my mother some crochet patterns and came across these two books for a dollar a piece.

Yep....life simple pleasures.

For my Island Batik project in July I purchased these beautiful threads off Amazon.

Just love the Aurifil colors

I have had these little items finished, for some reason my camera put a blue tint to them.

This is part of my Fancy Forest project using Flea Market fabric by Island Batik.

I have part of another hedge hog done and then two butterflies left to to and then I can put it all together.

YEA ME!!

WHEN YOU ARE OVERWHELMED

Sometimes in life we tend to take on more than we feel we can handle, or at least sometimes I feel that way.

As I was chatting with a friend, I was saying that I wanted to sew but didn't know what to work on, was too overwhelmed with what all I am doing. So I listed to him what I had and by the time I was done I was able to see clearly what I needed to work on.

Here is my list.

1. I am working on the "Fancy Forest" by Elizabeth Hartman, "Flea Market" fabric by Island Batik

He kinda looks like he is going to fall out of his tree or had too much to drink last night. I need to make his twin.

2. I need to finish my Cancer Ribbon Quilt that is for Charity, all I need to do is quilt it, due April.

3. Need to put the binding on my April Challenge for Island Batik. Simple...just do it!!

4. Need to finish quilting my May Challenge for Island Batik

5. My sister and I are working on a project together, when I got back from a little trip the fabric was in my sewing room waiting for me.

6. I volunteered to join in a blog hop in May

I spent Monday getting the pattern enlarged that I needed.

7. I am doing a block of the month with my sisters, nieces, and daughter in law...etc. Now mind you this a block a month. Well....I started the first block and got hooked. "Winter Wonderland", I purchased what I thought was a book but it came pdf. Using Island Batik scraps

The first block is due this month....

Last but not least #8 - I have a pattern that will be in the Fall Market Catalog for Island Batik, so the fabric will be coming any day now.

Trying to get as much as I can out of the way so I can devote time to that.

My husband and I keep our little grandson after he gets out of daycare in the mornings and sometimes all day if he is sick. I usually cut patterns out while he is napping. Then don't get back to sewing until that evening.

So there you have it, if you look and see, some of those items won't take long. Some of those Items I want to do and forget the rest. But...if you have a mind set like I do, you think of all of the things you have to do and can't get past that you just need to do one at a time not all at once.

That being said, after I wrote it all down, it came clear as day what I should work on first. You are probably thinking, get all the small things out of the way....NOPE

This won out. I purchased this book for myself and sent one to my sister. We have chosen a pattern out of this book.

Using these beautiful fabrics from Inchworm fabrics. I started work on it yesterday.

My plan is to get this quilt top done and then work on the small things. It helps to have a plan.

Now I have just posted a long post....sorry, I try to keep them short.

FANCY FOREST BY ELIZABETH HARTMAN

The beginnings of FANCY FOREST

I have the DELIGHTFUL DESERT by Elizabeth Hartman as well but I really really liked the bunnies in this one.

It would be nice to make the larger quilt but I am starting out small because we all know it might end up in the UFO pile is I go larger..... sad to say.

This is so much fun, like putting a puzzle together.

I am using Island Batik fabrics "Flea Market" and the 5" stash builders that came in my new box.

The 2" strips are perfect for this project (except if you need larger pieces and that is where the 5" strip stash builders comes in).

Can I just say, I am looooooving this.
