(please note that the picture does not show how vibrant the colors are). That is a sage green...
Learn to use my rolled hem foot....anyone have a secret for starting this process without causing such grief?
Four one inch strip cardboard (I know, there are only three) but you need four.
some magnets....and now you are asking yourselves.... "Just what is barb up to?"..........hummmm
I am obtaining privacy, that is what I am up to.
Can't a gal run from one room to the next in her skivies without being spotted?
Don't want to gross anyone out....or maybe I can just leave a stick by the door so they can just gouge their eyes out just incase....
I am just trying to stay off any unecessary grief to any individual who just might be passing by...

Very pretty! Oh yes, must cover the windows when one is running around in their jammies.
ReplyDeleteSo should we call you Barb Godiva?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to put up curtains! I don't blame you...I don't want anyone seeing me in my jammies either! LOL
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what you were up to but happily saw it was a creative solution to keep the rest of the Virginia population carefree and happy. :D
ReplyDeleteROFL! Oh Barb, you gave me a good laugh this morning! I really like those curtains, and how clever putting them up with magnets. Now you can run from room to room in your underwear in private! :o)
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
Cyndi
I have that same set up at my front door. I have tiny rods and sewed panels with pockets at the top and bottom. A neighbor has little narrow blinds there, and it looks nice. My stairs are right there, and I don't want to come flying down to have someone looking back at me.
ReplyDeleteYou're too dang funny with the stick comment! I had to do this on my front door too and I really like how your's turned out. I've never used a hem roller. I barely learned how to use a blind hemmer when I bought my Bernina but I don't know if that's the same thing bz I don't use cardboard strips with mine. Good luck, I hope someone can help with that.
ReplyDeleteIf you live in the country, like me- those glass panels only give me a view out - no one is looking in!!!LOL Love the fabric!!
ReplyDeleteYou clever lady, you! I have mine stuck on with sticky tabs, but I am sure there will be a goopy mess when I take them down!
ReplyDeleteGood looking curtains! I iron the first inch in a tiny fold, start with a leader and cross my fingers. It isn't a perfect process.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I have the same problem with one part of my house but I finally gave up and if my neighbor wants to see me he can have at it. LOL
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up. Great idea with the curtains! Good luck mastering the rolled hem. I want to attempt that soon but haven't made myself sit and learn how to do it yet. I really want to make some cloth napkins and would prefer to use a rolled hem on them.
ReplyDeleteCan't help you with the rolled hem. I gave up on mine years ago! Great idea to get some privacy so you can run around in your underwear!

Oh heck....I just posted a sign that says, "Only Blind People May Approach This House." ROFL
ReplyDeleteYou know who :)
Those are terrific curtains. We have decorative glass work in our side lights. If my neighbours work that hard to see through it, then they deserve to see what they can.
ReplyDeleteI love how they have the magnetic rod holders these days. Those ought to insure privacy, but I think if I were you I would be bundled up in that cold. They might think a blanket lived and moved there if it were me.
ReplyDeleteHow about a leader scrap to start that rolled hem?
I like what you did with the curtains. It is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteMicki
Very nice. I have a window by my door that I should do that too. Great idea. Why didn't I think of that. Love it.

Wonderful curtains....aren't you having too much fun in your new home? I do NOT like trying to use a rolled hem foot on regular sewing machine. The only way for me to GO at it is with my serger and rolled hem. So fast & easy.
ReplyDeleteVery nice curtains...and thanks for sparing many sets of eyes, ROFLOL.
ReplyDeleteVery clever! Cute fabric.
ReplyDeleteYou gave me a good chuckle! Thank you for your sweet notes ...
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful weekend ~
TTFN ~
Hugs, Marydon
I've never tried a rolled hem but have had to do something similar for our front door. Sometimes you need to run around in your skivies and you don't want everyone to see.
ReplyDeleteYou are SOO creative and smart Ms. Barb!!! What a great way to make curtains for the side windows!! The do look yummy! :)
ReplyDeleteYup, that will do the trick. LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, love your curtains!
ReplyDeleteNice to see what you are doing! They are going to look great!!!
Sharlene
Very pretty chocolaty!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool way to put up curtains! I don't usually like Home-Dec projects but this one is so doable!
ReplyDeleteI live in the middle of no where...If you drive all the way out here to look in my windows...well you get what you get!!!! (My door windows are high and frosted! So I can say that!) I really struggle with that silly rolled hem on my sewing machine too. I have a serger but I am chicken to do anything with it! That is so sad!
ReplyDeleteIf you get it figured out (the rolled hem) do a tute on it. I've tried several times and never have mastered it. I too wanted cloth napkins, but not if they look horrible..I can buy them cheap enough if it comes to looking ugly.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors I see in your home...not something I would be bold enough to do on my own, but would come to love if I moved into it. I am too timid to make bold decisions that I would have to live with...I would more than likely pick something too ugly :P
Loved the skivvies picture...we all do it now don't we?????
