Does this cup tell you what kind of day I have had sewing?
I am stealing SewCals vocabulary when I tell you that I did alot of reverse sewing today. I won't go into the details but trust me when I say that when my husband came home, I had ZERO progress on this quilt below.
I finished the two wall hangings. One is being auctioned below if you are interested.
I have never been one for threads, I always thought a thread was a thread....was I ever wrong when I discovered "Silky" threads....can't get enough of them.
I've never used Silky Thread. What are you liking about it?
ReplyDeletetell more about the silky thread
ReplyDeletegrrr...sounds like a frustrating day!!
ReplyDeleteLove the mug though! Your twin quilts are beautiful!
As for threads, I know the differences and some will mess up your machine....I like Sulky cottons threads, but my embroidery machine doesn't like their embroidery rayon threads. Good thing there are lots of other choices out there!!
Love those quilts. I like thread, too. I like to buy variegated to machine quilt with.
ReplyDeleteOH I don't like reverse sewing. I'm sorry that is the way you spent your day. Unfortunately all threads are not created equally.
ReplyDeleteLove the inchworm quilt. Is that a panel or did you applique all that (I bet you did!) It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHappy quilting,
Susan in Texas
PS Just be thankful you don't have to do pinch pleats.
If it weren't for un=sewing sometimes I would have nothing to do. cw
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that it wasn't so bad that you went to work! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great slogan Barb! My sentiments exactly. Your projects are lovely as always.
ReplyDeleteLove your Inch Worm quilt. Your twin quilts are beautiful too. Never used the silky thread. Who makes it? What do you like about it? Great slogan!
ReplyDeleteHow did you discover this wonderful thread?
ReplyDeleteIs Silky the name of the thread and is it for quilting or piecing? I am looking for a thread my machine likes. So far, lots of reverse sewing.
ReplyDeleteBarb, do you mean Sulky Thread?
ReplyDeleteI think I have a PHD around here somewhere....it is in Un-Sewing. Nothing, I mean, NOTHING is done without some reverse sewing activities in my world.
Smiles,
Kelly
Well you must have been totally enthralled with your reverse sewing..you didn't even mention the weather (which sucked today). I like to use the Sulky rayon along with cotton quilting thread. They have a great 30 wt. cotton, but I've only seen it in variegated. I'd love to find it in solids somewhere.
ReplyDeleteDidn't I learn reverse sewing from you? LOL. I feel like I've become an expert on reverse sewing. Thinking about reverse sewing an entire quilt. {nightmare on Quilt Street}.
ReplyDeleteLove your projects, especially your worm.
I think in a lifetime we'll never have a chance to truly explore all the amazing threads out there. But fun to research. Silk threads have their pros & cons like others.

Hi Barb, do you have any problems with silky thread...I tend to stick to cotton...previously I have had problems with that type of thread..hugs lyn
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt & wall hangings!!
ReplyDeleteThose are just so cute! Love the color combo in the 'worm' quilt...green and aqua...so cool!
ReplyDeleteWe all have days like that!!! Grrr. I love all of your cute work, Barb. The Inchworm quilt is adorable. Are you sending it to your sister?
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt! I tell you though, I buy from a local fabric shop here that has a line of threads also great variegated threads which I use mostly, other than white or beige
ReplyDeleteLove your inchworm! I have used Sulky Thread and I love it! I hate unsewing so much that I will put a project away for years rather than tackle the reverse sewing you are talking about.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Some are good and some are bad. I am learning to walk away when it is a bad day so I spend a little less time reverse sewing!
ReplyDeleteI can see you have been busy with your new Mr big. Lots of pretty things he has helped you complete.
