PREEMIE DIAPERS FOR TEENY TEARS

I am finally getting around to finishing up these preemie  for Teeny Tears.  I have more to cut out and sew but hey....this counts as a finish right???

I want to tell you what helped with making these.

Gene Black suggested when wanting to do top stitching close to the edge that you use your zipper foot.  Oh my stinking gosh....this is like the greatest most clever idea.  What a help Gene, thanks!!!

I know, I sound like I am harping about this straight stitch plate.....but...

I am here to tell you that it helps tremendously when you want to go around the corners.
I had my regular plate on and couldn't figure out why when I went around the corners that it would get chewed up in the plate.  That is when the AhhhhHA moment came, I switched plates and boy what a difference.

When I was at the store with my husband debating on whether to get this plate (seeing how I was paying a mint at the time to get my embroidery machine out...didn't want the added expense).  I told my husband, what if I forget to take the plate off when I want to blanket stitch.

He said....oh you won't (this is me snorting right now)

Does the man really know me?

Well...time only proved my passing thought right, I went to sew the other day with the straight stitch plate on there and wham!!!  Needle broke.  Hummmm I thought, what is the problem?  Needle must have been bent.

Oh yes...you guessed it, wrong plate.  I suppose I need to tape something on my machine to remind me to check my plate.  But what if I forget to read my note?

THERE IS NO GRASS GROWING UNDER MY FEET!!! LEAST WAYS, NOT THIS WEEK!

Cut out some more preemie diapers while watching some shows on "The Quilt Show"

Turned these diapers to the right side while watching "The Quilt Show"

Put another quilt on the frame
Finished quilting the green quilt yesterday, the snowman had been done for about two weeks. Needs Binding!
Cut out another quilt while watching Project Runway!
Finished six Christmas Tree Runners (tops only)...just need to quilt them now.  When I would finish one, I would say...oh...this is my favorite....I think I love them all.  The little elf struck at my house again.  I woke up yesterday and the whole downstairs was clean...oh...how that feels good.  Gave me more time to play!

WHAT DID I DO LAST NIGHT TO BRING IN THE NEW YEAR???

I MADE THESE, I purchased the 10” half hexie from MIssouri Star Quilt Co and started cutting them out Saturday night!
This is the Friendship Braid and it goes fast!!!!!  I didn’t start sewing until about eight last night.... so  fast!!  The fabric makes it fun!

I can’t  decide if I want a sashing in the middle or if I want to sew them together...won't have to decide that for a while.

You can get the tutorial here

Here are my leader and enders

Diapers for teeny tiny babies.   As I was sitting in Church Sunday a gal got up and wrote this blog site on the board
Teeny Tears.  This is the larger pattern, I think I only cut out eight of them and the rest are the real small ones.  Still needs to be top stitched….

Just wanted to give you an idea of what it looked like.  If you are interested, go to their website, they have patterns for gowns, a little dress, etc.  Our church is going to be making them later on in the year  but hey…nothing says I can’t start now…RIGHT!!!

The Teeny Tears blog makes me sad but I am trying to think of those little ones that actually do survive and can graduate to store diapers.

Then when I tired of those I went on to these

Cut seven of these out Sat. night as well and have had a hankering to get er done!!!

I know…you are going…but Barb, Christmas is over why are you making these???????
Are you NUTZZZZ

The first answer is “Because I want to”
The second answer is “YES”

You can find the tutorial here, hope that works.

So there you have it, that was my New Year’s eve…heard the fireworks go off, hubby was snoring away, netflix was on and I was jumping from project to project.

Have a wonderful New Year!!!
