Now....several of you had the idea that I quilted this quilt in a day.....tis not so. I in no way meant to imply that I did. I had the middle already done. This is a project I was working on for Thimbleberries Sew day.
I finished the binding yesterday afternoon...whohooooo. How do you like the yellow binding?
Also, I have a Janome Horizon, the neck is about five inches bigger (guessing) than the regular sewing machine so it makes it easier to stuff and fluff. I will say that I did do a King Sized quilt on my Bernina, it did prove difficult. Leah Day and Patsy Thompson do their quilts on their domestic machines and they do a fantastic job. I do mediocre at best.

I wonder if they have a boat load of chocolate while working on their quilts? They make it look so easy.
I can't wait to see more of the round robin. I like that yellow binding. You are certainly getting some finishes.
ReplyDeleteThat Round Robin quilt looks really pretty....and I DO like the yellow binding on your "trees" quilt. Really sets off that green nicely!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am sure that there is a LARGE quantity of chocolate consumed when people are quilting...it's a quilting rule, isn't it?...to eat chocolate while you are working on a quilt?! And yes, I did find that Hershey bar last night! :o)
Have a great weekend, Barb!
XOXO,
Cyndi
Love the yellow binding. It really set the quilt off nicely. Nola
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Barb, you are really knocking them all out!! You are right about the Berninas though. Not a big throat plate at all.
ReplyDeleteA finish is a finish, no matter how long it takes you to accomplish it :*) I really like the yellow binding on the Thimbleberries quilt - it's perfect! Looking forward to seeing the round robin when you are done. I have done an oversized queen on my domestic - a Janome 6600 which has the enlarged throat like yours. It is definitely more work than a long-arm, but a whole lot less expensive :*) I really enjoy quilting on the DSM even though it takes forever. I also just don't have the room for a long-arm. Caryl Bryer Fallert does hers on domestic too and they are just gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the yellow binding! that quilt is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe ellow binding set is off nicely. I am still sending my tops out for quilting, I just cannot seem to do anything put stitch-n-the-ditch.
ReplyDeleteReally, Barb??!! You are doing too good a job finishing up those UFO's and putting me to shame. In my defense, cookies are taking over my world!! Who has time to sew when there are cookies to be made?? ~karen
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the yellow binding!!! Your Janome is my dream machine!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Horizon is the machine that I am lusting over!! I would love to own this beauty!! Enjoy!! Love the quilts!!
ReplyDeleteThe yellow binding looks great...can't wait to see this RR when you get it finshed. Good job getting all the ufo's finished!
ReplyDeleteI have a Janome 6600 with the table no less and I love it because it has a larger throat also. I bought this because of the wider throat too. Love the quilt work. I agree the yellow binding does finish the quilt nicely.
ReplyDeleteLeah Day is fantastic. I wish I was that talented.
ReplyDeleteWow great job!! Diane Guadynski also does all her quilts on her domestic sewing machine. Truly amazing! Guess we just have to keep practicing ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow ur on a roll!!! Congratulations on getting so much finished!!
ReplyDeleteI have that same machine! Love it! I received my table runner I won today in the mail. Thank you so much. It is sew pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts. I do machine quilting on my machine and it can be done
ReplyDeleteYour yellow binding looks great! I do most of my quilting on my Pfaff and it works for me. I do some on the Brother 1500 I have too that has a bigger throat plate and it's ok too. There are so many talented machine quilters out there and they amaze me. I watch Leah Day and I get inspired. I try and keep on trying.
ReplyDeleteBut, I broke down and bought a Tin Lizzie Friday and hope to get it this week. Maybe I can get my mountain of flimsies done in my life time now.
OH MY GOSH!!! So does Pat Delaney!! You should see her work!! WOW!! This woman is amazing! The pictures on her site does not do justice to her quilts. She recently came to our guild and, and, and, if you EVER get a chance to see her work you MUST do it!! She is sooooo sweet, down to earth and just a living doll!!
ReplyDeletelike the yellow by the way.
I love the yellow binding on that quilt. Great choice.
