I have been doing alot of applique. You can see what I am up to on the ironing board.
I did notice this morning when I got up that my husband had been in my space. You see that basket by the sewing machine with all of the lettering in it....that was dumped over. Then I have a little pin cushion with the trash bag hooked on to it, well...it was on the floor.
I would get on to him but I have made it difficult for him to access the computer...it is in front of the chair. Well...it is my space and my computer...I don't mind sharing but really!!!
Great work space, I can cut, draw, and iron without having to get up.....saves time.
I am sure you noticed all the bags below the ironing board. I finally seperated all of my scraps into colors. All I had were these zip bags....Hey, it works...
Ran out of my plastic zip bags and used a plastic bag....and two plastic bins. The browns and blacks are together...hey, we can all get along.
I must say that having the scraps organized by color (okay...thrown in by color) that is save alot of time and saves on the mess (oh...I can see you laughing....you say mess...trust me, there could be an even bigger mess here).
I truly can not wait to get all of this applique done so I can clean the space. I can only take it for so long then it has to go....get cleaned up....taken care of....

Oh Barb, you make me smile every day! I just love how you describe things. I think that probably, while we are working on projects like you are, most of our sewing/crafting spaces looks just like yours! I know mine is in desperate need of a good, thorough cleaning right now!
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
Cyndi
I don't collect scraps like I once did. I admire people who do though.
ReplyDeleteBarb, I've used typing paper, tissue wrapping paper, coffee filters, all as stabilizer that is then torn away after the applique or embroidery is done. Keep in mind that using a tear away works well if you are doing something like a satin stitch but not so well if you are doing something like buttonhole stitch.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly looks like you must be having a lot of fun! I have my scraps sorted by size but not color yet. They accumulate quickly!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. When we work hard our work place can get alittle messy and than it takes time to clean it up. I do that too.
ReplyDeleteI think I might just try sorting my scraps by colors. Hmmmm it's a thought although I don't have many, it sure would be easier finding the colors when I want them.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's a lot of scraps!! I don't have room for them so I give them to my girlfriend and we get together every so often and hammer out quilts for charity.
ReplyDeleteLooks like lots of creative work going on. I use cheap gift bags for scraps.
ReplyDeleteI do not know what you are talking about? I see no mess!!
ReplyDeleteI am so thrilled to have won your giveaway!!! Thank you soooooooooooooo much!!!! I was doing the happy dance!!!!
My mess is even worse and I have not moved from one side of the earth to the other in the last couple of months. I am not going to send you a photo because I am too embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteHaha... my hubz has to find space on the chair for the computer too!!! Well - he's the one refusing to build me a cubby house!
ReplyDeleteHugz
You wouldn't believe how much I got for my scraps on ebay. Not being a scrap quilter...I am fairly sure mine are all going in a flat rate box and off to auction when it is full.
ReplyDeleteOne can only waste so much valuable sewing time with cleaning up!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea with the zip bags....
ReplyDeletei never thought of that thanks.....
cant wait to see your finish project
"cheap" yeah, I DO know the half of it now, girlie! I hear ya about space, mine's crazy too and while I don't mind sharing, I do have a territorial feeling come over me that I have to soothe down when it's been "shared."
ReplyDeleteHa ha.. I emptied one of my scrap bags. You can see it on my blog post today.
ReplyDeleteCute post, as always. Very nice of you to share your computer with your hubby. I'm willing to share mine with my DH, but not via my sewing room. Definitely not willing to be that generous with my space, aka mess!

Creativity is never neat, maybe your husband needs a laptop.
ReplyDeleteThat's not bad. Mom left to go tho Wesley's and I have my stuff on my kitchen table.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun tour! :)
ReplyDeleteOrganization no matter what the container works. I can stand it only so long and if I want to get something done I have to clean. We are leaving for home tomorrow. Sorry I missed you today.
ReplyDeleteThose scraps look great to me! Just begging to be used.
ReplyDeleteHey, getting the scraps sorted is half the battle. At least you know which bag to grab when needed. Don't worry about how neat they are, they would just get messed up again LOL. A messy area means you are being very creative right now :0)

Hi Barb, thanks for stopping by my Pink Saturday post, always like it when you visit me!
ReplyDeleteYour space looks like my space, my desktop computer is in the studio, or my sewing maching is in the office, I guess it's both..Its a pain but it is what it is..
Have a great week!
Barb
PS I am signing up for a set of beginner quilter classes to be held in mid April..hooray, I am really going to give quilting a 'go'..
ReplyDeleteBarb
Some day those are going to turn into something great! :-)
ReplyDeleteBarb, my space is the same, I hear this big deep sigh when my husband goes in the sewing room to get on the computer and he has to move fabric to sit down. I say he needs to get a lap top. LOL
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your attitude quilt.
I love it!!! So much creativity going on here!!! You go girl!!
