HOARDERS INTERVENTION!!

When you see this picture you will see why!!!! My husband was walking up the stairs and he said "You know that room looks like that show on TV "Hoarders...." I laughed and he is right.

So I took a picture to show you what the room looks like now and my husband said that he could not believe I was going to put it on my blog.

No shame here!! Now if you saw my work station....I would be embarassed. A little at a time....mile by mile it is a trail but inch by inch is a cinch!!! Working at a turtle's pace right now.

Some of you have noticed that I haven't been blogging, thanks for checking up on me. I must confess that my husband and I are having the dickens of a time with the change in climate. Today is really the first day I have felt like living.

  1. I had wondered how you were handling the drastic temperature change (and lack of sunshine) from AS to the northeast. I hope you warm up soon.

  2. Hoarders united!!! It's amazing how a move knocks it out of you... I think it is in retrospect we realise just how much. Glad you are beginning to feel yourself again...

  3. It is what it is! Takes time to get things back in order after a big move.

    Glad you are feeling better.

  4. LOL This pictures makes this messy quilter feel so much better. I guess I'm not the only one who creates chaos when she quilts. Love it!

  5. You are so brave! I would have been too embarrassed to post that picture. I'm sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. Hope you feel like yourself very soon. I miss you.

  6. I can only imagine what it's been like for you to come here in the worst winter we've had in years. Take heart - spring is really coming!

  7. Oh my what a bad friend I've been! I didn't realize that you were suffering so. I'm happy though that you feel like living today and I hope it just keeps improving from here on out. I wouldn't dare show you my sewing sanctuary right now, lol! I'm being very creative though and having tons of fun every chance I get! Take care.

  8. The hoarders rooms looks like quilters paradise. I can imagine admiring, touching and drooling over each pretty.

Hope you and hubby feel better soon. You have been missed in blog land.

  9. Poor Barb! Weather and the move are working against you. You'll feel better soon, and get that collection into order. hugs, pokey

  10. As long as the mess doesn't distract you from your quilting, who cares? My problem is when my room gets that messy (like it is now) then I have trouble finding things. I hate that!

    Happy quilting,
    Susan in Texas

PS I can't handle the cold anymore either. Sign me up for summer!

  11. Barb, if I lived in that climate I am sure I would hibernate for the entire winter. My blood is much to thin for anything below 60 degrees. LOL!

YIKES! My OCD self wants to come and straighten your area. LOL!

  12. I bet it is hard for you two. And this is one of the worst weathers in a while for cold in your area, I am thinking. Have faith. Spring will come!!

  13. Barb, I am sure you will get use to the hot climate. During the summer it is so warm and you would stay inside and make good use of your stash. I would love to come and help you folding fabrics.

  14. I assumed that settling the household goods had kept you from blogging.

  15. I'm cracking up laughing....I know that is temporary from the move. If it is not....and you live like that....good grief girl....you need an intervention and soon!!! I often feel like I need an intervention....but it is just that I don't always have time to put stuff back...and I get a bit jumbled for a few days until it all gets back.

Still love ya....even with your piles :)

  16. I can imagine how dismal it must seem here after all that sunshine and heat. Don't worry, Barb, spring is just around the corner (for you...a couple of months away for me).

I laughed at the photo of your room. My daughter's bedroom looks far worse than that all the time, and she has NO excuse! Unpacking a house is a pain!

  17. You have been missed. I just figured you were buried in fabric and would come up for air sometime soon. Not too far wrong. Seriously, though, I hope you will feel better soon. Let me know if there is anything I can do. Does soup mail well?

  18. The room is ok. You'll get to it when you feel better. Just take good care of yourself. Oh, and that climate adjustment may take awhile. I've lived here in this cold winter climate all my life, and I still can't seem to get used to it :-p

  19. So sorry to hear you two are having problems adjusting to the new climate...but I do think getting a coat, hat, scarf & gloves would be a good thing!!! like cuddling with a good quilt in winter. Cozy socks are good too! Ok, enough of a lecture.

Please tell your hubby that I do not think you are a hoarder, but talented woman in a new home that needs some organizational products....e.g. a trip to IKEA, or another store, for good storage units? I'm the hoarder, you are just trying to settle in and figure out storage. Big difference.

  20. I haven't adjusted to the climate yet either...and I've lived in Minnesota all of my life! Ha. The cold winter months turn me into a regular old slug. RE: messy sewing room...is there a problem? :-D

  21. Barb, I too hate the winter and I know exactly what you are feeling. Head out to IKEA and you will no longer be a hoarder.LOL

  22. Packing and unpacking, moving from a hot climate to a cold one or back - gosh Barb, I'm surprised your room looks as good as it does. I'd be under all of that stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  23. There is always one room in our home that looks similar to yours. I am with you on climate change. This week is going to be a roller coaster, going from the 40s to 70s up and down.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hello Barb, it takes time to unpack....grin....and sort things out...hope the climate improves for you...Hugs Lyn

  25. Sorry Barb I didn't check in on you - I assumed you were continuing to unpack :) And hopefully this warmer weather this week will help "that funk" that this time of year gets most folks....I'm not a fan of winter at all and grateful for sunshine and warmer temps!

  26. Poor messy Barb. At this point in your life you are who you are. When I get involved in something I make a big mess. Digging through fabric and notions making a mess that I know I will have to clean up when the project is over. Then it starts all over again.

It's hard to go from warm sunny days to cold dreary weeks. Hopefully the sun will start to shine soon and clear out the winter blues.

  27. That looks a bit like my quest bedroom and my fabric closet. I have faith in you, you will get 'er organized eventually :0)

  28. I told you didn't I, that you'd be in for a shock! Turn the thermostat up a bit so as to get used to the cold. Cashmere sweaters are the thing my dear for cold days. The cashmere is so soft and warm. Also socks, those are the things that one puts on their tootsies to keep them warm. Never seen in Samoan society, but needed where you are now.
We all feel the cold....work faster, you won't feel a thing! Poor girl!

  29. hahahah, looks like my store right now. Actually, I packed up all of my quilting and sewing stuff and put it in storage. I could not stand having it mock me at every turn.

  30. Well, I must confess that when I'm in a cleaning out mood, that's pretty much how my sewing room looks! You'll get it all squared away soon!
Sorry you haven't been feeling yourself...Spring will (hopefully) be here soon! :o)

    Happy Valentine's Day, my friend!

    XOXO,

  31. Your post made me giggle! Spring is right around the corner...right? lol!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks for sharing your hoarder picture...I have one too...it's usually my dining table! I am always working on some project or ten and it is always a giant mess...right in front of the main door to the house. Luckily I don't have much company, or they would have me on the tv show! Not as a guest!
So glad you are feeling better!

  33. I have an uncontrollable urge to get in the car and come put the organizing whammy on your space! You know I'm a weirdo that loves to organize stuff!
As for Winter and cold...it totally sucks! Come on Spring let's get a move on! hee, hee, hee.

  34. It's quite a change from Samoa to Virginia. That cold winter just slaps you across the face doesn't it! It will be better next winter when you have had time to acclimate.

  35. I can't imagine a temperature change like the one you have gone through, Barb. Glad that you are feeling more among the living again.

  36. Sometimes, Barb, turtles have the right idea! You are too cute. I think I missed something, where did you move to ...

    Happy Valentine's Day ~

  38. Pretty soon you'll be singing, "Spring is busting out all over!"

  39. Just snuggle under some quilts and wait... soon enough you will be enjoying our wonderful heat and humidity! Hope you feel better soon.
I am betting that room will be set to straight in a few months!

  40. It's a creative room not a hoarder's room.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I can identify with that picture. At least you have an excuse with your move. :)

  42. That is so funny. I've been organizing my sewing room/den. Since it's right off the living room, I was really embarrassed by the way it looked. Slowly but surely it's getting done and we don't have to run to close the doors whenever the doorbell rings. I wish I had before pictures. I hope you're seeing the sun up there.

  43. Messy???? What you talking about??? Isn't this how a sewing room is suppose to look... we're in too much of a hurry to clean... I have to get on the next project!!... Dead line... dead line... always in a rush to get just one more done ... why??? who knows.. I just understand it.. my upstairs sewing room and my dinning room look just like this!!! I am a shamed to admit in public, that it looks this way.. but what the heck... creating minds don't have time to clean!!
Thanks for sharing your lovely sewing room and fabrics with us!!
