Finished!
My 4th son was going to be homeless for 10 days during Christmas....this caused me alot of stress and worry.... He kept telling me not to worry because he was going to sleep in a friends car....
I am his mom...how could I not worry and how could I enjoy my Christmas holiday knowing he would not have a home or even Christmas dinner.
The day before he was to become homeless one of his friends parents took him in. They treated him as one of their own and even had presents for him under the tree.
How can I ever thank the kindness of this family? It will be hard to repay them but maybe this quilt will be a form of thanks...hopefully, they will enjoy it and over look the bloopers....(smiling...ooopss).
Barb, I think that is so nice, both of them and of you. Your son has good friends from good people.
ReplyDeleteBarb, it turned out beautiful....they are going to love it!
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
Cyndi
It's beautiful Barb, but the really beautiful part of it is that you made it to thank them for caring for your son. How sweet is that? Very! There are certainly a lot of good people out there, aren't there?

They will be thrilled with such a gorgeous quilt.
ReplyDeleteI think that is an excellent "thank you" I would take it - it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTalofa Barb, I loved your quilt - colors, design, and everything. It will be loved. Because of your inspiration, I have started my blog again. When I am busy with wonderful things to write about, I don't have time to write, and when I have time, I don't have anything to say.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they took him in.....it was good for their soul, good for your's and good for your son. I don't think I could stand the thought of one of my little monkeys being homeless....but if they ever are....I know if someone can take them in....they will....and the circle of goodness and kindness will continue. Thanks Barb for keeping that circle going.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kelly
Oh Barb! That comment just made me cry. My oldest has been in the same position and had some very nice people take him in as well in October .... it is such a hard thing for a mom to deal with. I hope making that beautiful helped you and I know the people who receive it will love it and think fondly of you and know you appreciate what they did every time they use it!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. I love it!
ReplyDeleteOnce again it shows the goodness in people - both the family that took your son in and You Barb!. The quilt is beautiful and something they could never buy. I know I would stress too if my son didn't have anywhere to live.
ReplyDeleteA quilt is a wonderful gift of thanks... so kind of them...
ReplyDeleteHow sweet, that is just like you, Barb!
ReplyDelete:-}pokey
What lovely people they must be.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt and the quilting looks fantastic on it.
OMG! Your post almost brought tears to my eyes. Both for the kindness of your son's friends, but also for your gift of a beautiful quilt to thank them. I love that bow tie pattern. When everyone was doing one for the Schnibbles challenge, I took my old bow tie blocks and remade them into one of these. I love it!
ReplyDeleteWow! Isn't it wonderful that we can still rely on the kindness of strangers today!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to say thanks when there are just no words to say.
Barb they will be overjoyed but I know you would have done the exact same thing. All your goodness gets returned to you in many different ways.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a wonderful quilt - I'm sure they will love it.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine how terrifying that must have been for you.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is gorgeous and I'm sure they will see that it comes from your heart.
I love the quilt and I know they will too. That is a wonderful thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove and thanks come back to those who show kindness. Giving it back to them wrapped in a quilt is a beautiful thing. :)

ReplyDeleteIt is lovely, Barb. I am sure they will appreciate it not only for its appearance, but for the time and personal effort you put into it for them.
ReplyDeleteHow horrible that must have been for you until they took him in. I think that is a fabulous gift you are giving them.
ReplyDeleteThey'll love it Barb! It's beautiful! :0)
ReplyDeleteThat was so sweet of those parents to take your son in. Unfortunately that has become rare now-a-days. I'm sure they will appreciate your gift and not notice any oops that you might see.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that with us Barb, it is nice to know that good is still out there! They will treasure your gift. I am glad your son was not alone for those ten days.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. They might even keep it on the spare bed for all those that take refuge at their house.
ReplyDeleteThe kindness that still exists in this disturbing world amazes me. There is so much good. And how better to say thank you for kindness than with such a warming gift? Well done.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful. These people will look at it and remember you every day and thank you for your thoughtfulness. I'm sure they have benefited from this event in ways we can't even imagine.

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful...who wouldn't love it!!
ReplyDeleteIt's just lovely, Barb. I think they will considered themselves amply repaid. I hope your son's housing situation has straightened itself out. Was he away at school or something? I remember they used to kick us out of the dorms over Christmas break, and too bad for you if you didn't have anywhere to go.
ReplyDeleteHappy quilting,
Susan in Texas
Barb, what a nice thing those people did for your son. I'm sure they will love the quilt.

ReplyDeleteHow sweet! On both sides. Good to hear there are still good people in this world!
ReplyDeleteI love this story and it's happy ending. This quilt is a heartfelt and beautiful gift. It's perfect. :-D
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful quilt and will make a lovely gift for such nice people.
ReplyDeleteBarb, oh my goodness it turned out beautiful....
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful quilt! They will love it!! The quilting on it is astronomical. What is the name of the pattern or where would I be able to find it?
ReplyDeleteOy, My momma heart skipped for a second, as I am sure yours did for much longer than a second! And my eyes started to water thinking of the helplessness you must have felt :( If only we could protect & provide for our children (no matter their age!) every second of every day for their lifetime!! I was thankful to read that things worked out, and worked out in a special way :) The quilt is beautiful! It would be hard to find words, and no extravagant gift would come close to thanking someone for protecting/providing for "one of ours", but a gift of warmth/love made from the heart... as their gift was to your son (and to you thru him)... now that's perfection ((((((((((((huge hugs!))))))))))))) I hope one day our children learn what it is like to wear your heart outside your body and remember to be thankful for the Momma's (parents) heart! :)
