DECISIONS....DECISIONS....

So next Monday the moving coordinator is coming by to access our house and how much we will be shipping. Now I call her a moving coordinator but I am sure she has a much fancier name...just like me, I call myself a Home and Living Assistant when in reality I am just a kept woman. Gotta love those fancy names....so I don't know her fancy name...sue me!

Anyways back to the post.... We get to send a small load of items that will substain a home until all our house goods arrive (meaning our storage as well...whoohoooo Christmas all over again).

So...I am thinking of sending these ahead with Daddy Pfaff or should it be Mr. Pfaff? I will be close to batting and maybe I can finish all 14 of these quilt tops? Wouldn't that be awesome? So yep...that is what I am a gonna do (still a Texas girl, can't take that out of me).

So while I am thinking of what to put in the small shipping....I am doing this.

You make a quilt of 5" inch rows....if I were to do this again, I would make this first step real big because you see the finished results of mine....and I did seven rows by nine. Here is the ruler you use to cut the first part up. Then you sew the cut pieces up in the order they are cut....and when you sew them....your neighbors will hear your squeal of delight when you see it come together.

You do get alot of scraps but I made these.....

Will get my trusty Go out to make 2 1/2 inch squares...

This is all that is left...not too bad.

Just got a call from my husband and we may be leaving for a house hunting trip come next week (normally I would be kicking and screaming and saying...I am not getting on that plane but I am excited to go). Soooooooooooooooo I have alot to do between now and next Thursday and I don't need to be playing with this...I have that vynl I want to play with....

So here is the deal...you want this little quilt...along with some 2" rows and 2 1/2 inch squares above to make you a cute little quilt, runner or table topper....just comment.

I will even throw in this cute cosmetic bag I got at Hilo Hattie's that matches...don't we all love matching?

Now I am going to tell you all a shocker...I love working with bright fabrics but I don't really like bright fabrics in my home (ooooooohhhhh no Barb...that can't be) but it is... I am more of an earth toned kind of person with splashes of color here and there but not too much.

  7. Thanks for the chance to win some fabric! I wish I had a 2-1/2 inch cutter for my Go! I have to cut my 2-1/2 inch squares the old fashioned way! LOL

  8. the THOUGHT of moving makes me ill!
Kept woman or not, moving is a HUGE task not for the faint of heart! Don't envy you at all! Okay, so my neighbor in Indiana calls me a "Social Media Specialist", how's that for a fancy name for someone who plays on the computer way too much? lol!!

  12. I cannot even imagine how complicated it would be move that far. I would not want to move across the street much less halfway around the world. Good luck to you.

  13. Best wishes on your house hunting trip! Hope it isn't too aggravating. Know you will ensure the sewing area is great - and maybe it won't be too cold. Meanwhile, please put my name in the hat for your scrappy quilt/scraps. Would be pleased to remove that from your packing list. Thanks.

  16. How exciting, Barb! You finally know where you are going and you get to go house hunting!! And by all means you MUST pack up your machine and accessories as the "necessities" because you might go nuts without them! :o)

  22. Ahh! Household goods! It reminds me of my past life living in Germany for three years. I am sure after you have been settled awhile you will want to visit Mary Jo's in Gastonia,NC. and maybe some of us east coast girls can meet up with you! I love brights!

  23. House hunting is so exciting. Such fun to walk into so many houses and imagine yourself living in them. The little quilt is adorable. Glad you were able to salvage the scraps.

  24. Oh my goodness, Barb, it seems like just a few days ago that you brought up the possibility of moving...and now you're packing and house-hunting. Wow. I don't know how you'd choose what to pack and what to "carry along". I would have a hard time parting with my sewing machine or fabric, even for just a couple of weeks. But I suppose you'll be busy anyway. Are you excited???

I love your cute little quilt. At first I thought I shouldn't enter the giveaway because I actually won something today :) but why not, eh? I love bright colours! Plus, I haven't talked to you for a while so I wanted to make sure to leave you a comment today so you know I'm thinking about you and wishing you the best on your move.

  25. House hunting....now that is fun. Best wishes for a successful move.

  26. I have been so lucky lately I hate to even ask, but yes, I'd like to try and win this too. Actually, I'd love to finish it for you and donate it to the Children's hospital that saved my dad when he was 5...Seattle Children's Hospital. I am part of an online guild that makes quilts for them!

  27. oooo, pick me! I love those fabrics! Good luck on the move, whereever that may be to.

  31. It is so exciting to see that you have found out where you are going- It will be nice for you to be back on the mainland - even with the colder weather.
I think your quilt is very fun and I love the bright colors. Thanks for the opportunity to win your fun quilt.
    Warmest regards,

  32. I, too, LOVE working with BRIGHTS.
However, my house especially my living room is lots of teak furniture with a neutral grey carpet with white walls.

Brights stick out like a sore thumb.

    GO! figure.

    Hugs,
    Gerry

  33. I do not envy the task ahead of you. I remember one of our military moves and we were allowed 500# to take for immediate use, another small shipment to arrive to hold us over for 16 weeks and a third pile to ship onto our final station in Hawaii. Oh...the decisions!!! It was a nightmare.

Where are you going to do the house hunting? Fun!!!

Please add my name to the list for the scraps. I am doing the scrap sew along with Jodi.

  34. Barb, That project is most interesting and I can't get over the ruler. Nice job you make use of most everything. Recycyle and recycle again. lol Good luck on your venture my dear. You'll do just fine and will eventually be busy seeing all the new "quilting" places.
    Happy Quilting!

  35. I would think the sewing machine would be the first thing to pack!! That really goes without saying, Barb!!

I am sure you will have lots of fun house hunting. Good luck!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm the same about the colours in my home, but will make quilts from brights just as happily as muteds.

Hope your househunting trip goes well. It all seems to be happening so quickly now. Do you have an actual moving date yet?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'd certainly take the sewing machine but I might want to carry it on the plane with me. 14 tops looks like enough to keep you busy and if it's not, you'll just have to buy new fabric until your things arrive!

  38. Hello Barb, good luck with your house hunting....I love your bright scrappy project...hugs lyn

  41. What a cute little quilt. You are having way too much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  42. How small is a "small load"? Smart move to make sure that you get the quilt tops and machine sent ahead first!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Barb, your posts are always so funny!! I think you should definitely plan on getting those tops quilted (kind of a forced labor)! I with you on home decor. I like Autumn colors in my home, but that doesn't mean I restrict myself to only sewing with that color range. There are always gifts to give and charity quilts to be made from all sorts of colors!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Lol, you are ambitious to be packing that many tops! Looks like you are just a but excited! Is love to be included in this giveaway, the prizes are amazing!

  45. I absolutley love it.. The colors are great together. It would give me something to do on my time off work before the baby comes and keep my mind occupied.. Good Luck with moving. I cant wait to see updates.

  46. Good luck on the househunting trip! I agree with you about loving bright colors to work with but not to decorate with! That's a pretty cool way to make pinwheels.

  47. I am so happy to hear you are getting to come to the Mainland. Of course, will miss your adventures there in A.S. but there will be many more here in the USA. My home is decorated in blah, but I sure do use a lot of bright colors in everything else. Thanks for thinking of your readers with the giveaway.

  50. I would never have guessed that you prefer earth tones for your home! So many of your projects are bright and beautiful. Must be a reflection of your sunny personality :D Sounds like things are going start happening now that a new location has been finally been selected. I hope you find the perfect house to make your own.

  52. You're so generous...thinking of your readers...still...when house hunting. Good luck with that. All positive thoughts! I cracked up over your comment about liking to work on bright fabrics, but liking none in your house :)
