Today (Monday), I decided to prep some quilts, I need two baby quilts.....
So here is my pet peeve.....having to re size a quilt. I hate it....such a hassel...as you can see my flowers are not proportionate to the Giraffe. So frustrating. I tried using our copier...well...I think they turned out pretty good anyways.... By the way, my octopus, it is full size for that main reason....I hate to re size.
My Texas quilt is still on my mind...so I prepped these two blocks...
I will probably work on the above block while I am watching biggest loser tomorrow (Tuesday). Yahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Well...this is the back view...sorry for the way it is not flat on the table...but gives you an idea of what I am doing. Showing this to you backward...sorry.
This is the front...the sash is not quilted yet.
This is the whole quilt. This is paper pieced. I made the top about five years ago. It is all garage sale material.....
I prepped this quilt, sandwiched and the first 6 rows quilted. Most people walk their dog, I am walking a quilt. It is not perfect but I am excited about the way it is looking!!!
Also, someone made a comment about how easy the things I make are....I know they did not mean anything by it, I have been thinking about that before the comment...so...I decided to pull this UFO out and walk the devil out of it and show that I can do something a little more complicated.
The baby quilt is going to be adorable.
ReplyDeleteI have the pattern but it is not on the top of my list yet.
I do not know if you have access to a school Barb, but I use a school overhead projector to enlarge my patterns and that makes them proportioned. Your UFO looks wonderful. It will be a gem when completed.
Love the big quilt! Nothing wrong with easy I say! :0)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is indeed complicated! The back showing the quilting is incredible -- a huge challenge! About the giraffe and re-sizing, just call him a baby giraffe. :)
ReplyDeleteWOW....what a great block on that "old" quilt you dug out. And I think the baby quilt looks cute with the flowers being bigger like that.
ReplyDeleteLove the little giraffe. That's going to be such a cute quilt. I'm with you when it comes to resizing a pattern - it's a real pain.
ReplyDeleteLeaving you an award today on my blog.

Barb, That giraffe is adorable, love him..
ReplyDeleteThe applique patterns take a lot of work and it's not always easy. Don't be hard on yourself, easy is okay if that's what you choose to do. At least you get things done. Finished is good in my book. Love your paper piece blocks, this quilt is lovely.
Wow, I don't think the things you make look easy. I think they are wonderful. Oh, the little giraffs are so cute. What a wide range of styles you are working on.
ReplyDeleteThe "garage sale quilt" is amazing! Do you have the paper piece pattern? I really like it.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the "easy" comment goes--truth, beauty and genius all look effortless.
Do you think they meant how easy you make things look, because you certainaly don't do easy things. You are extremely creative and do beautiful work, for example the one you are working on now, the purples (my favoritr color)
ReplyDeleteI love your giraffe and I like the way the flowers are on the block. If I was a giraffe I would want the flowers that size. The longhorn is looking good. I just love TX quilts. That was a lot of paper piecing on the purple quilt but it is stunning.
ReplyDeleteThat Giraffe is adorable! Kids LOVE Giraffe's too.
ReplyDeleteI really like your UFO and look forward to the big finish.
You have been busy while I was away and playing! I love the cute little giraffe even if you think the flowers are too large.
ReplyDeleteI hope the earth has stopped shaking for you.
Awwww those are so dang cute!! Reducing a pattern is such a pain in the you know where!!

Darn copiers. But I still love your giraffe quilt, even if you think the flowers are oversized. Delightful!

Your work looks great! Love the giraffe. You are very talented indeed Barb, and thank you for sharing your creations with all of us! Sharon.
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning work as usual, love the UFO quilt! And the giraffe quilt is adorable, don't worry about the sizes. So cute! Easy, peasy, nothing you do it that easy....your work is just wonderful and so clever! Just keep it up. Love to see it all.
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid patterns that need to be re-sized. It never seems to work out right for me.
ReplyDeleteI like the last quilt. It is going to look great once it is all finished!
I love the baby quilt, and you know how much I love paper piecing, so I love your larger quilt.

I think that quilt is adorable. i never would have guessed it wasn't proportional. I mean they are, but when you are dealing with cartoons and babies, you have that license!
ReplyDeleteThat giraffe is adorable!! DH took a pillow pattern to work with him and blew the applique pieces of the ark, animals and Noah up for me and I did a Noah's Ark crib size quilt for the first grandchild who will be 16 Tuesday. Worked out pretty good.
ReplyDeleteThe baby quilt is going to be so cute and adorable...love it1

Hey Kiddo, It is funny that someone said easy because I was just looking at your baby and Texas quilt and thought, "Wow, how cute!, I could never do that"! You have a ton of talent and do not have to prove a thing! I am sure they meant it as a kind gesture!
ReplyDeleteThe Giraffe quilt is so cute and will make a perfect baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all your projects. I didn't realize there was a competition going on to see who could make the most complicated stuff. ☺ I like 'easy'; it's the accomplishments on the easy projects that give me the motivation to tackle more difficult or time-consuming ones.
ReplyDeleteDarling quilts. The "garage sale" quilt is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThe baby quilt is going to be absolutely adorable! Love the giraffe!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely busy. I love the baby quilt...just the cutest. Hugs
