Got my stars made.... finally, if I told you how long I have been working on them you would be ashamed but as I said, lots of frustrations..... My husband is loving this quilt, he asked me who it was for. It is for me!!! Him!!! The ropes had horse shoes on them but I didn't like the how busy it made it, infact, that was the one part I did not like about the pattern, so I just left them off, may put them somewhere else.
This is the young gal I am teaching to sew....one happy girl.
The quilt is looking good - and your stars turned out ok too. I haven't tried stars like that - too scared to. And your student sure looks happy! I would be too if I was sewing with you! Now I'm going to go check out the blue jeans site...
ReplyDeleteYaay!!! you got the stars finished! I love the tri-colored ---uh....chevrons? zigzags? whatever--that pieced three color part that surrounds the map block. It adds a nice color kick. I think the rope by itself is enough.
ReplyDeleteI knew you could do it Barb!! The block looks great!! That's the best part of quilting, you can take a pattern and make it your own.
ReplyDeleteCrispy
She will learn so much from you too. Great lloking quilt!
ReplyDeleteShe looks so happy by the machine, love the quilt, what szie is it?
ReplyDeleteThe block looks TERRIFIC, Barb! And your student looks so very happy (as she should be) to be working with you as her teaacher!
ReplyDeleteYea! for completeing your Texas quilt! I don't see footprints on the stars so you must not have stomped on them in frustration while paper piecing! :-)
ReplyDeleteYea! also for passing on sewing skills!
Its coming along quite nice Barb.
ReplyDeleteyour new sewing buddy looks so happy. It is so nice of you to share your love of quilting.
Love the block! My "baby" sister lives, in Texas in the Woodlands, which is just outside Huston. She would love a quilt like that but I am not that ambitious. LOL. Thats so nice of you to be teaching that young lady to sew.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was a productive day for both of you. Good job on both counts!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet to see the lovely smile on your young protegee. Nice project taking shape too!
ReplyDeleteYay! Looks great! Your student looks very happy! Have fun! :-)
ReplyDeleteAh so the sewing machine is working again I see!
ReplyDeleteHow generous you are to teach someone to sew ...a lifetime skill too.
I just love the block. Texas block is it?
The block is beautiful! The young lady you're teaching is so pretty and looks so happy. You obviously are a good teacher!
