I was going to take this nasty ironing board down to church tonight, we need one. I have taken it before and the kids just say ooooooo what did you do to your ironing board....so today...I thought I would just recover it and not be so embarassed.

AWARD RIBBON CONSTRUCTION

I found these awards on someone's blog a while back and just put it in my favorites. I thought this would be awesome to do for the Cub Scouts pinewood derby. Trophies are had to come by here for that type of event. So this is what I came up with, spent a good portion of my morning Friday doing these.

TWIN BABY QUILTS

These are two baby quilts I have made for twin boy and girl. If you look real close you will see the twin boy and girl hula dancers.


I think my favorite is the one below.


I got the pattern from this book "Sew One and You're Done", it is just a one quilt block. Lots of fun. This actual quilt I did was called School House but I am calling my Hawaiian Hula for twins.

YELLOW BRICK ROAD

I am helping someone out, she needs several baby quilts and her time is limited, so I told her I would made two tops for her. Here is the first one.


This pattern was so much fun because nothing is set in stone, you are given alot of choices in how you want it laid out and how you want to sew the fabric squares. I want to do another one, but I need to stay the course. I might do another one like this???? Still up in the air. Thanks to Jane's Fabrics and Quilts. This was a kit I ordered off ebay but no pattern came with it. I thought I was going to get the yellow brick road pattern, I thought wrong and Jane graciously sent me the pattern. Do I need to buy some stock in Jane's blog? Sounds like I have an investment in it since this is the second post for her in a few days time.

My Tejas quilt with alittle Mexicanna

As you know, my son left yesterday. I stippled this quilt yesterday to keep myself busy. I got done about 11:30 last night. What you are looking at is the backing of the quilt. I chose a Samoan fabric, the top is all Samoan fabric as well...so it was only fitting that I do so.


This quilt was not only fun to make but fun to stipple as well. Infact, I had starched the backing and I really think this kept it from bunching. I had no bunching to take out, totally amazing. Once again I serged around the quilt when finished and believe me you, that makes all the difference in the world.



Now on to a small problem. CharoMomma is moving this month. I can send her package to her mom but I don't think she will have time to pass on the bags. Sooooo do I make another bag to replace the one I am going to send to her or....do I just choose another winner and forfeit a round in the round robin?

NO DROOLING ON MY FABRIC PLEASE!!!

I had forgotten I had ordered the material below from an etsy store called Threads of Conversation. Well it came in today..yepee If any of you have been visiting Jane's Fabric and Quilts, you will see all the lovely fabric she has been purchasing. I have been having to wipe the slobber off my chin from drolling so much when looking at it...not any more....I got some pretty awesome fabric today myself.


UFO COMPLETED

Trying to keep busy today as my son is leaving. I actually had sandwiched three quilts on Saturday, the baby quilt shown before, this one and one of my fun ruler quilts. Well, I got this one done today. It is for my husband. He loves chickens, we have had chickens as long as I can remember, not here, he really misses them.


That is my son holding up the quilt... I was reading a blog one day and she had mentioned that she serges around her quilts before she binds them (I wish I could remember what blog to give her credit), so I did it with this quilt. I can not believe how easy the binding went on. I will serge around my quilts for now on.

Saturday's accomplishments

The quilt below belongs to a gal (nine months pregnant) that comes to my home to sew with the sewing group. She came last time and no one else showed up. So she had the material for the nine patch and I had the material for the triangles. She did the nine patches that day but as I was going to explain how to do the triangles, she said, I am just going to leave it here. So here it has been. No sewing group lately, so Saturday, I decided to finish it up. Hope she likes it. It is really bright but they say babies like bright. I get real frustrated when my things don't turn out perfect....and this is far from prefect....



WHAT YOU ASK IS THIS?????


It is a small sewing kit.

David needed a small sewing kit for when he leaves for the West Indes, so my mother mailed him one many, many, many weeks ago and it has not come in. So once again, necessity has taken over and this is what I came up with. There are things I would change, things I would do different and make it look nicer but....I don't have to make another one, soooooooo....this one will do.

MARDI GRAS QUILT FINISHED

I finished the stippling on Thursday while waiting for the repair men to fix our sink and our water heater. Took them 2 1/2 hours and so I spent my time stippling. Now when I mentioned in my last post about how much I loved the back, I was not fishing for complements, I just love the contrasting color and how amazing it looked. Believe me you there are mistakes in there...but needless to say, I still love it. When we got home on Saturday, I finished the binding...Yepeeee...I can get something finished...I truly can....so this next week is to get out the projects that are so close to being finished and to finish them.

"NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION!!

What you are looking at above is a camera case I made the night before we left for Western Samoa (up until 1:00 a.m. making it). We had company until 9:30 and so I went in around 11:00 and started making a bag for my camera. The reason being is because my husband is so rough on my camera, he scratched the lens, he scrapped it against a fence and got green all over it. Well...it seems every time he had the camera it would drop or something would happen. So...this bag is double batted, and it has double the interfacing in it. I made it up as I went along... I put buttons on both sides, one side was to cover up the hook. I just pinched each corner and placed the straps in each and just sewed, making a box. I had plans for a real nice one with zippers etc...but this one did the trick and was really easy to handle.


I saw this little bag on Sew Mama Sew But I was to lazy to look the pattern up Thursday night that I just made it up as I remembered and well....just put my own little twist on it. This little bag came in sooooooooo handy
