I wish some of you were here to take some of this junk (treasures) off my hands.
My sewing room is getting a clean out, the only problem is, I CAN'T LET ANYTHING GO!!!!
I need help desperately. The rest of this post is a diversion.
So....This is the quilt I made a few years ago with Island Batik fabrics
I just love it. I was going to sell it but decided I liked it too much.
See it hanging on the bench.....yep.....I get to see this beauty every day or at least for a while.
I tried to find a picture of the table topper but gave up.
I made this I believe last year or the year before. This is hanging on my mother's door at the assisted living. Everyone has wreaths on their doors my mother had to be different. You can find the pattern here:
So now that I have played a little, back to cleaning and sorting. Do I really need all of this stuff?
LOL!! Those are all so fun...I think I'm just like you. I can't bear to part with things...enjoy them for a few years, then they have to go.
ReplyDeleteI do not envy your cleaning spree, but wish you luck. :-)
I am right there with you, LOL! Lots of fabrics...plans for most...and way too much!
ReplyDeleteI can relate a little with your purging dilemma, but I've been involved with a couple of hoarding situations, so it's become a lot easier for me to look at things and know I most likely won't ever use them, sew them, etc. Good luck! Your Easter quilts are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOf course you need it :)! It's so hard to get rid of stuff. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest that you start giving fabric to a trusted friend (who has extra room) with the understanding that you can have it back if you miss it. If you don't miss it in 4-6 months, she can then donate it to someone who will use it. I have come to realize that I will not use all the fabric I have and have given lots to others. I haven't missed it yet.
ReplyDeletePerhaps some of your mothers co-residents would like something instead of a wreath on their doors!
ReplyDeleteI hear you loud and clear , I need to do the same thing , purge ! Your Easter quilts are lovely ,
ReplyDeleteI let a lot go earlier this year. I found it freeing and now I can buy fabric I LOVE! You can do this!!! 😄
ReplyDeleteI need to do some cleaning...but I have quilting, weaving and other stuff that is more important.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. With almost 30 years of fabric in our home, I was forced to downsize!!! Oh what a job. Quilt guild members came to assist. 1 minute (keep or goes). My excuse to my husband was yours goes up in smoke (cigarettes) and my collects dust (fabric). Would you believe I sold over $2600 of fabric and purchased a new sewing machine. That does not include donations to schools, theatre, quilt guild and seniors. Unpacking I still have more than enough. I am a "Fabric Alcoholic". But all quilters are hoarders. Trying to think "Less is More" which is not easy". You can do this I have faith in you.
ReplyDeleteYou are on the right track...spring cleaning is a good thing even to cull a little of the hoard. I try to and often fail but sometimes I can manage to rid myself of a few things. Even that feels good. Stay strong. LOL
ReplyDeleteGaackkk! I'm doing the same thing this week....oh it's so hard! Good luck!
