So here is the deal
See this quilt?
Quilt was started in America Samoa using my Accuquilt Go cutter.
One of the first projects I did with my Accuquilt Go cutter.
Many many many moons ago.
Have I shamed myself enough?
Trust me, I have a few other quilts that are older than this that need to be finished.
So
I am challenging myself to complete at least the top for the month of July.
I figure if I tell people and maybe shame myself enough I will get it done.
I need 128 two and a half inch squares to do one border side. This will be a king size quilt.
I also figure that this is one top I can work on as my leisure (yes, I know that is what got me in this trouble in the first place (the word leisure).
I now have a pile of squares to start sewing and if I tire of sewing I can cut more or iron the squares that were packed up with this quilt top for who know how long.
Fun huh???
What quilt would you like to get done for the month of July?
it looks great. when did you live in samoa?? how cool! I once got some fabric from there but it was very very stiff.
ReplyDelete128 squares for one border side? Times 4? I'll support you from the side lines and tell you that you can do this! I have a batik bed runner that I started ages ago. All it needs is basting, quilting and binding...in other words, the top is done. That will be my July UFO to get completed.
ReplyDeleteFinish a quilt? Not sure those words are in my vocabulary right now. But I look forward to celebrating the finish of this project with you. Going to be beautiful.

That's an amazing looking quilt top! I want to get my Halloween quilt back in action that I started last December, but I will make no promises that I know I will not keep. LoL. Someday!
ReplyDeleteI have 9 blocks done for a block I'm calling chinese coin variation . i need 30. I will strive to get the top finished by the end of July. Good luck to all joining your challenge.
ReplyDeleteThe top looks complete to me. What is left to do on it?
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. That is a lot of small squares. I have so many quilts that I need to finish. Choices!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite --scrappy! It's awesome! Have to say I don't have any full-sized quilt in mind for July, or any other future month. My big quilt-making days are over! But I truly am enjoying making swap minis with a FB group! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my. You mean you want me to drag out that king size quilt that I started (clearing throat) years ago?! The one that was for my wonderful hubby, and featured squares from his shirts, and from the kiddos' out-grown clothing? Oy vey. You are asking a lot. Haha! Yours is looking awesome!
ReplyDeleteI want to finish my red, white, and blue string quilt top this month. I think I only need a few more blocks to make it lap size.
ReplyDeleteI love your project. It is going to be awesome when finished. I have decided to join you. I could have picked from a dozen projects that are not finished at this moment. But my Trip Around the World quilt is causing me to lose sleep. It wants to be finished so badly. So that is what I will be working on.
ReplyDeleteFinishing this will be such an accomplishment! I have a couple of smaller quilts that need bindings and I keep putting it off. You've inspired me to prepare the bindings, at the very least!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up! Go for it! Hae fun.
