Patterns in the attic

This is just the tip of the iceberg of patterns.....

what is weird, I remember wearing some of these....hummmmmm  does that mean I am vintage?

I truly do not want to throw these out either...gotta find a way to get rid of them....

  2. Oh so fun. I think people sell them on eBay. When you bought your home did you know that the former owner was a sewer?

  3. More treasures from your attic. While I think these will sell on ebay, I also enjoy seeing them. The artwork is amazing, and the historical designs are great fun. Almost inspires me to make one of these outfits.

  6. I'd think you might find a market for them on etsy or ebay. Vintage patterns are quite popular!

  7. Theatrical costumers would love to get their hands on these! My daughter is one. : )

  8. Such fun to see the old patterns. I was able to give most of mine to my son who is studying costume design. I don't think he uses them but the pictures can be great inspiration.

  12. Have you considered opening an Etsy shop? They are for all things handmade, supplies for handmade or vintage items. Each listing costs only 20 cents, for 4 months of activity. You are only charged more money when you make a sale, either by Etsy or by PayPal (usually both, but even so, it’s minimal….and if you’re good with numbers, you can set your prices high enough to cover all the charges). You’re welcome to create a shop using this link:

and the best thing is – creating a shop costs NOTHING!! In fact, you can do it all in stages…get your shop & policies together, then start listing when you’re ready! Vintage patterns go for about $5 a piece!! No telling WHAT those hats would go for.

Seriously, I’ll help you any way I can!!!

  13. I hate to admit it, but I made 2 of those patterns, Simplicity 4821 and 7430. I was probably about 20 at the time. I was not a great seamstress, but that didn't stop me from feeling like a model when I wore one of my creations. It probably didn't hurt that I had a 22 inch waist at the time.

  15. I sell patterns on Etsy (I purchase them at thrift stores and garage sales). Vintage patterns haven't been my best selling item, though. I am confused about your attic. Didn't you move recently? Were these items left in the attic? Also, since I live near Dallas I wonder where you moved to. I think it might be close to me?

  16. There was one lady who showed doing a collague of them on the wall in her sewing room. Choose your favorites (maybe the ones you once wore) and then sell the rest on Etsy. it is easy to set up an Etsy site.

  17. Well, maybe not you, but I AM vintage, for sure!! I remembers these also. I used to do lots of garment sewing. Loving your discoveries; thanks for sharing.
