One thing I have noticed is that less and less people are blogging or not quite as often.
. Less and less are reading blogs.
I think it is because of the way we have to read blogs.
I know a few that have become frustrated with blogger and just give up.
I know that myself, I get very frustrated with reading because sometimes I can not comment.
I have bloglovin coming to my Hotmail every day and I do try at times to go and read but when wanting to comment....well...very frustrating.
Then the word verifications is extremely frustrating, if I have to do it more than once, I am gone.
Personally, I have not been reading or blogging as much so when I do want to go and catch up it becomes very frustrating.
I do lurk, scan and will pop in every once in a while.
That being said....I am creating a blog list to the side. I took down all of the buttons and tried loading them on my blog list.
You will see that some of you are not on there....sorry about that, this is very time consuming....I will put your name on as you pop up in my comment list or as I stroll by....
You have not been forgotten!!!
Have you tried Feedly? That is want I am reading you blog on and commenting from right now. It also has the ability to let you view in a preview from the website as well as opening in a new tab. You might want to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI've been blogging less and reading/commenting less lately because I'm having a hard time finding a good balance between life and blogging. To really do justice to my blog by blogging regularly, and the blogs I follow by commenting, I have to spend a lot of time on the computer. Too much time! I've been giving this a lot of thought lately and trying to think of ways to cut back on the time, without losing what I love about blogging.
ReplyDeleteI have updated my blog roll too, and more often than not, I just go in and check out the recent posts from my favorite blogs there. Then when I have time, I go to Dashboard or Bloglovin to hit them all.
I couldn't have said it better.
DeleteReal life comes first and it is hard to finde time enough to blog as much as I like to, since I want to sew too *lol*
I blog less thats right, but I think it is better than not at all.
I love how bloggers share nice ideas and comments and the possibility to meet quilter all over the world.

PS. I read this blogposting because I'm following your blog, with GFC and Bloglovin wich works fine. ☺
DeleteI'm the same way Barb. I'm still reading lots of blogs, but I guess I'm not commenting as much as I used to. And I agree the word verification is a pain. I don't have that on my blog and I never will.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! I use bloglovin for my reader, and to comment I sometimes have to right click on 'comment' and open in a new window. Just a simple extra step, but some days it is frustrating. I'm still reading!! (and occasionally just lurking)
ReplyDeleteI don't like having to wait for Bloglovin to send me the email before I can read my blogs.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I am having trouble commenting on several blogs and have noticed that postings are fewer too. And I myself have had issues posting on my iPad and have been trying different apps to make things easier.
ReplyDeleteAnd then just now while trying to write a post it would not let me add more. So frustrating!
ReplyDeleteCute Sun Bonnet Sue.
ReplyDeleteI have cut down on the number of blogs I read. I am trying both Feedly and Bloglovin. I think I am leaning more toward Feedly, but both are still tweaking their systems. They ask for feedback; and I have noticed improvements in both since I started 4 or 5 weeks ago. I hate the words verification. Most of the time it is too hard to read. One blogger has a number verification; you just give the answer; ie: 4 + 5. Really simple.
ReplyDeleteI have also noticed that the blogs I follow seem to be blogging less. I thought that maybe I just need to find some new, fresh blogs??
ReplyDeleteI love your Sun Bonnet Sue! I want to make one of those someday...something so sweet and old fashioned about them :)
I totally agree with you. It seems they just keep playing with this and it just gets more complicated. Why would anyone want all that stuff coming thru their email? I haven't done anything about bloglovin...from the sounds of it, I don't want to even try it.
ReplyDeleteI hate the squiggly words too but some still use it. I tend not to comment on those blogs as I sometimes have to print the words several times. If one gets Chrome as their browser there will be no more spam so you don't have to use those squiggly words.
Love the Sunbonnet Sue.
ReplyDeleteOn your other note, I thought it was just me. I have found the same thing happening. I lurk and read a lot, just not always commenting. I love os many of the places I visit. The word verification is a pain, especially if your eyes are not the greatest, as mine. Always something.
Barb, you said it so well. I am in total agreement!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that it is because of the summer season. I like you sumbonnet Sue quilt, BTW.
ReplyDeleteI just started using Blog Luvin and I don't mind it. It gave me an issue trying to leave a comment once but besides that, all is fine. Blogging is very time consuming I will admit.
ReplyDeleteI have found that I struggle to find time for my blog any more. I only post once or twice a month if I am lucky. I also hate those word verifications. If I can't get it in 2 tries, I am done. I think Facebook has replaced my blogging somewhat. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI read blogs from my dashboard. As far as I know that is not going away but never know. I set my blog to mod the comments after a couple days. This seems to help keep spam posts down.
ReplyDeleteGod Barb, I know the feeling. Word verification is such a pain. Sometimes I have to type Ii 3 or more times.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree Barb. Not only the frustration but there are so many MORE blogs now, then even just a year ago. The word verification is so time consuming that I sometimes won't leave a comment. I have not been blogging as much because there are some things going on in my life that have snuffed out my desire to quilt :-(
ReplyDeleteI just have a list of blogs on my blog and usually try to read those every few days. I have more time in the summer to read and post, where through the school year I get way behind on reading and if I'm working more I don't sew as much so have less to write about. I don't like word ver. and won't use it on mine.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It has become harder.
ReplyDeleteOh boy do I agree! I think this whole reader thing is making people crazy. I am trying Feedly but until they close her down I have been using reader.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you....this is getting more frustrating than it used to be. I wish they would bring back the old way we did things! LOL Like another commenter, I am trying to balance all the aspects of my life, so if you don't see me comment, it's not because I haven't stopped by...it's probably because life called while I was reading and enjoying!
ReplyDelete:)
i have been having problems commenting on some on bloglovin too don't know what to do about it.love the sun bonnet sue quilt
ReplyDeleteWord verification is the thing I dislike most.
ReplyDeleteHow did you get that blog list printed I wonder ?
Love the quilt
I hear you, Barb. When using Bloglovin, even if the other blogger has the "Bloglovin" logo to link into, one cannot comment on many. I believe this is do to having a ".com" email blog address. It has become frustrating for me. I intend to do what you're doing. But, as you say, it is time comsuming but I want to do it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the commenting Barb...If I cannot get it the first time I usually just move on...I have cut out word verification on mine and just moderate them myself...so much easier for all those who might comment...your little quilt is so cute.
ReplyDeleteYour Sun Bonnet Sue is very nice. My computer that I like to do my blogging on died, so I'm waiting for hubby to connect the new one, then I can blog again!!
ReplyDeleteYour Sun Bonnet Sue is very nice. My computer that I like to do my blogging on died, so I'm waiting for hubby to connect the new one, then I can blog again!!
ReplyDeleteI tried bloglovin and it was just too hard. I switched to feedly and it is better but not much. I too will try the word verification twice and then I give up. Lately I just don't have the desire to blog, maybe someday. I do read your blog and always enjoy it. I know I'm terrible about commenting since I have been sick. Love the SBS quilt.
ReplyDeleteI am a blog stalker, not a blog owner, so for me it hasn't been too much of an issue. I love reading my favorite blogs (yours of course is in this list) and if I need to "verify" with words that is ok to.
ReplyDeleteI switched to Bloglovin, and I had all of my blogs exported there, but I still wonder if I'm seeing them all. I still check Blogger Dashboard, but they say it won't be available much longer.
ReplyDeleteI've been slow at blogging too. I think a lot of it for most people is that FB has taken over, and you can glance at your feeds to stay in contact with people.
For another thing, life has just been hectic around here the past few months. I know I've lost followers, but I do try to read the blog updates as much as possible.
I think it's the time issue more than anything. I am doing blog lovin but get the list the morning after in my email and usually a new post has been posted already. Which is ok , I guess. You have 31 comments though, so someone is looking :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your "haul" of fabrics :-)
I also meant to say I hate the word verification thing too. It gets frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI used to visit and comment on a lot of blogs, and only a few people would even reply to comments and rarely visit my blog so I sort of got discouraged.
I still read blogs from my dashboard. I thought I read where I would still be able to do that. I'm not impressed with Bloglovin. Maybe I'll try Feedly. You couldn't get the AW on your sidebar? I know what you mean about reading and blogging. I'm tired and only have short blogs during the week, not the weekend. Also, reading has become a hassle as I have so many blogs I like to read. Thus, if there is an interesting picture, I'll stop by, other wise I hurry past. I wish I had more time to read and comment. But I need some time to quilt!
ReplyDeleteummm??frustrated too
ReplyDeleteyaay... I see my name! You are on my reading list too.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Barb. I don't have time to read and comment as much as I want to. I do read, but lots of times I don't comment. I hate the word verification thing because at times, I can't figure it out! You are one of the ones I try to read regularly, and have missed reading your blogs when you haven't blogged. A lot of times, I just don't have a lot to say, so I don't post on mine.
ReplyDeleteHi Barb have you tried feedly, I have tried both Boglovin and feedly and liked feedly better.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree. Bloglovn is handy, not perfect, for getting updates, but impossible to leave a comment. I'm still hopeful two google/reader tools in development will be good tools.

I agree with you, Barb. Would like to be on your reading list.
ReplyDeleteCute sun bonnet sue, by the way.
I've noticed many bloggers have gone over to FB. I still enjoy following blogs.
ReplyDeleteI hear you. Sometimes I scan and lurk because it's easier. But if something is really interesting I do try to leave a comment because I know bloggers appreciate that especially when someone is asking for help.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and keep cool.
I've just plain been out of commision....not reading or writing as much as I used to. But I'm working my way back....and don't know a lick about blog lovin so I'm way behind :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kelly
I agree that less people seem to be blogging regularly for whatever reason. I also agree about the word verification. It was OK when there was only one word, and you could actually read it, but 2 words and all messed about with is too much. There were loads of complaints to Blogger about it, but in their usual manner, they ignored them.
ReplyDeleteI love Bloglovin! If you cannot comment or can't get into a link, you click the cross on the right hand side of the Bloglovin taskbar and that takes you immediately to the blog page. You can then comment or link to your heart's content.
ReplyDeleteAMEM!
ReplyDeleteYou said exactly how I feel, still reading just not commenting as much, it takes so much time. I'm still using Blogger Dashboard and I'm hoping that isn't going to change.
ReplyDelete"IMHO" blogging is not as enjoyable and "friendly" as it use to be. So many of the blogs I followed and enjoyed have gone commercial by charging for what they share and have added advertising that keeps popping up. I will visit stores when I want to purchase something and I now look for non-commercial blogs when I want to chat and learn about quilting. Having a "word verification free blog" is no big deal and just maybe I delete spam 2-3 times a week. Again, this is IMHO. Judy C
ReplyDeleteWell said! I still read, but don't comment as much as it takes so much time. I don't blog as much for that very reason. I find I spend way too much time on the computer and have been trying to cut back and spend that time working on projects, etc. I do enjoy reading and seeing what others are doing, but I don't like word verification either. I sometimes wonder if blogging is fading away and being replaced by facebook and pinterest. Love your sunbonnet quilt. I have a little stash of fabrics that I plan on using sometime to make me a little sunbonnet quilt. Nola
ReplyDeleteLife has been taking its toll on me this year. I am reading and trying to comment, but it is not always possible.
ReplyDeleteI have Bloglovin send me email when someone updates their blog. It's the only way I can keep up. Those that allow me to follow their blogs through email via Feedburner is the best, though.
I agree Barb. The systems to help us manage seem to be making things worse...for me anyway, in terms of keeping up with reading. Still hoping to find a system that works for me.
