I HAVE BECOME A GARBAGE PICKER...

Last Thursday a friend came over to use my Go cutter. As she was using it she was throwing the scraps in the garbage.

 I told her not to be surprised if I didn't dig in the garbage after she left.


 She looked at me funny and said...you want these scraps!


 I said yes, I sure do.

 They were not much to look at but I could see potential.

 So.....in the garbage I went...wasn't too bad, no nasty food, just strings, not even a chocolate wrapper to graze the chocolate off of it (just kidding).
Got my trusty Go cutter out and this is what I came up with....using my heart die and my rick rack die.
Still needs to be quilted....but in time!

    LOL!!! I love working with scraps! Does my thrifty soul good to know I am creating something beautiful out of something that would have just been thrown away :*) Good for you!!!

    When I first saw the AccuCut unit I thought it was something that I would never want. Oh, I was so, so wrong! Though I hate to cut, I thought that I was too cheap to pay for a machine to do it for me. I am saving up my money now to get one. Look how cute that little table mat is and you cut it in no time. Excellent!!

    I do not have a GO, nor do any of my quilting buddies, but when they throw away a nice size piece of fabric, I too go through the garbage and claim it :-)

    Haha!! Crack me up ... not even a chocolate wrapper ... poor thing! I love scraps, too! At the quilt show I went to today, the guild sponsoring it had a "boutique" and at the end of one of the aisles, a bin of *free* scraps! You'd have loved it! I got some really great pieces!!! :)

    I love what you did with the scraps!! It's funny that you posted this, because I was just looking at all the corners I snip off from my drawstring bags and started wondering if I should be saving to make fabric buttons or magnets =P

    Ha ha.. I was thinking today how it is just too hard for me to discard a scrap that has potential. I think the piece I was looking at was approx 2" square. Yes I saved it!

    Barb the trash picker lol. I think most if not all quilters have dug through their trash cans a time or two. I know I have. Plus, you made something cute out of the trash pickings.

    Hey, I've done the same thing. I would have never thought of picking up scraps others wanted to toss, until I got an AccuQuilt GO! It is so easy to cut scraps into usable pieces. But, I love what you created. You have now convinced me I MUST get that rick rack die.

    Trash picking and dumpster diving have their rewards! I do think twice now about throwing away useable scraps..........your trash save is beautiful!

    I did a post not long ago on the same topic, less waste with GO! if ya utilize it! I applique a goodly bit so small comes in handy as well! I need the rick rack die. Waiting on a good sale!

    ha ha, a true quilter goes through it all....I have little scraps in a basket, but am sure not going to do little stuff such as you did...makes the cutter look more inviting so I better start saving for it.
