Gee I never thought of looking at my chair wheels. What a mess. But if it took you two hours, maybe I will mention it to my DH; he is always looking for a project.
Barb I tackled this with the wheels on the chair in my sewing room last week. It took me about 2 hours too. I thought I was the only one with this problem and I am trying to figure out how to keep it from happening again....I have started being careful not to drop thread on the floor so much and it seems to be helping. But, when I am in the middle of something and focused on the project, I will probably have thread all over again and have to spend a little more time de-threading my wheels again. I was surprised to see your post about this since I just did the same thing. LOL...we must think alike!
i did this same operation for my chair wheel few months back...never thought it was so difficult to remove the mess till i decided to clean it..great job Barb
Ha! Wonder how big that ball of string would be if we put ours together? I hope you were watching something on tv to while away those hours, lol :-}pokey
LOL That has happened to me too. If I'd only remember to put my stray threads where they belong instead of the floor where i roll over them, I might not have such a problem. What a hoot. Glad it's not just me!
Soooo are you sandwiching these finds between two pieces of tulle and stitching them into something fancy pants? :) Seriously, I used to have loooong hair and it used to mess my chair wheels up something fierce. Go you for tackling such a job! ~Christina in Cleveland
LOL I've never thought about thread caught in my chair..my computer mouse, the vacuum cleaner, around the cat's neck, printer rollers...lots of other places but not the chair...still laughing.
Oh dear, I may just have to head down the the sewing room to check out my wheels. I have never done this and the chair is 15 years old. Who knows what I might find!!
Wowzers, Barb ! ! ! Major Thread Picking. Guess I'd better get in there and take a CLOSE look. I have been at my machine this past week sewing box bags for my knitting projects. But mostly to use up some of my oldest Fabric Stash of FQ's.
Am going to modify a couple of chisel block strips for our Quilt Guild PotHolder Swap next Month.
Been there done that! haha! on some chairs you can pop one side of the wheel off, and then slide the other side of the wheel off. All the gunk comes off in 2 pieces. But it is at the risk of breaking your wheel. only one side will come off. I pried mine with a flat head screwdriver.
Barb, I am laughing at myself because when I saw your scissors I was all ready for another sewing project only to realize what you were really up to. Great and funny post!!!!
Wow, what an operation! My chair doesn't have wheels so I only need to wipe off the bottom of the legs periodically. I have had to clean long hair from chair wheels before. Never fun.
My chairs get the thread-ectomy every once in a while. Isn't it amazing what they collect? I love the table topper in the newest post above. Wish I had the pattern. When you have time, please stop by and visit and follow me, too. Thanks for letting me visit.

Ive done this many times with my vacuum. Ill have to check my chair.
