In an email I was telling Cindy (Just Cindy) what I was doing and she said she calls it Appliquilting.
I have been so busy that it is hard to sit down and just sew, so it is nice to have a project set up that I an come to and work on sporadically.
This is where the Appliquilting comes in.....I am doing the blanket stitch to the whole quilt, sandwich and all....gobble gobble.

I love how the back looks. I think I am going to do some cobble stone in between the stems and basket....
Then Cyndi told me about this contest at the Missouri Quilt Co. She thought I might enjoy doing it. It started November 1st and ends Dec. 31st.
Sadly, this is where the charm packs lay, still in their wrapper. Poor charm packs.....maybe soon I will get to them????

Part of the rules is you use one Summer Breeze charm pack, I ordered 3 just in case.

I love the appliqué...and the pattern on the back!Someday I want to try appliqué too!
ReplyDeleteWowser! Love how the back looks, Barb! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteyears ago I use to do a raw edge applique tulip as an alt block and one of the kids turned it over and said, why don't you just do this it would be faster. So we made up a bunch of blocks where I just sewed on the drawn line, turned out to be one of my favorite quilts, looked embroideried, set them with 16 patch scrappys. Now I need to try it as the quilting, looks promising as a TO DO cw
ReplyDeleteLove it.... all in one.... and I love the background you have for the flowers too.... pretty charm pack...
ReplyDeleteHugz
it is amazing. good work. hugs
ReplyDeleteI forgot to tell you that appli-quilting is addicting. I have done them and changed the bobbin thread to match the top thread and it turned out so cute. The Summer Breeze charm packs are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou do beautifil applique' work. Have fun in the contest. Love the fabric.

Your applique looks so smooth. I sometimes end up with buckling. And I love the flower design.
ReplyDeleteBarb, This is so funny...I just got home from a fabric shop with fabric and a pattern to make a tablerunner and it is done just like what you're doing...machine button hole stitch through all the 3 layers (thin)...so when I'm done, can I say I'm a novice appliquilter? If I need help, I know who to call!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Your project looks great, front and back. I've done appliquilting now and then, especially when I'm in a hurry and time is short. Takes care of two things at once. It's efficient and gives us more time for the next project.
ReplyDeleteLooking good Barb!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! Love the way the back looks. And the front too, of course!
ReplyDeleteI like it. The back looks as good as the front stitching wise. I love Summer Breeze. I have twelve f.q.'s but have not made anything with it yet.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great - what a fabulous idea!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Barb. Cindy always gives me the best tips
ReplyDeleteLove your applique. What a clever idea too. Love how the back looks.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, front and back!!
ReplyDeleteOooooooooooo, I like it!
ReplyDeleteI just tried that link and found the charm packs, but now they are OUT of stock, boo hoo, wonder how long it will be?!
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea , kills two birds with one stone so to speak and looks great !
ReplyDeleteThe back is almost as pretty as the front, only in a minimalistic way.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this before and it's fun to see the back and how it's turning out. Is it bad to hope that this "no reply" winner doesn't get back to you so I have another chance at winning? Yes, I'm soooooo bad that way, lol! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful!! Great work!
ReplyDeleteYour appliquilting is great! I have never tried it myself, but it looks like a time saver.
ReplyDeleteIts because you are so neat that it looks good. I doubt anyone could do blanket stitch so nicely that the back looks as good as the front!
ReplyDeleteAppliquilting...great idea, love yours. xo
ReplyDeleteThe back of the quilt is looking as lovely as the front. You've made 2 quilts in 1 I reckon.
ReplyDeleteLove the appliquilting!!! And love you putting my quilt retreat in your sidebar- thanks!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Barb! I begin doing this a few years ago after doing an online work shop with Pat Sloan. Love the way the backs look! Pretty charms. Look forward to seeing your project!
ReplyDeleteNothing looks better to my eye than a great applique. I love the lines you the back of the quilt!
ReplyDeleteNow why does your back look so good? That's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Barb. Do you use a walking foot to do your buttonhole stitches since the quilt is already sandwiched?
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the term appliquilting! The back of your quilt is going to look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteCute Applique Barb, it sounds like you've been a busy women. I like the way you are appliquing through the layers, designer Patrick Lose was a guest speaker at one of our Quilt retreats and he used the same technique for his small wall hangings. I'm sure those layers make a great stabalizer too. I've been MIA and I miss my blogger friends. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this method for appliqueing, looks great Barb and the charm pack looks so pretty :) Barb.
ReplyDelete"Appliquilting" - I like that.
ReplyDeleteI hope she replies for the 'Beam' - but if not you could always pick me!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!! You do such great work!!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun Barb, How did you stick it on???Vliesofix?? Might have to give it a try. Is your project very big? Questions questions, sorry but I really would love to know.
