In an email I was telling Cindy (Just Cindy) what I was doing and she said she calls it Appliquilting.
I have been so busy that it is hard to sit down and just sew, so it is nice to have a project set up that I an come to and work on sporadically.
This is where the Appliquilting comes in.....I am doing the blanket stitch to the whole quilt, sandwich and all....gobble gobble.

Then Cyndi told me about this contest at the Missouri Quilt Co. She thought I might enjoy doing it. It started November 1st and ends Dec. 31st.
Sadly, this is where the charm packs lay, still in their wrapper. Poor charm packs.....maybe soon I will get to them????

years ago I use to do a raw edge applique tulip as an alt block and one of the kids turned it over and said, why don't you just do this it would be faster. So we made up a bunch of blocks where I just sewed on the drawn line, turned out to be one of my favorite quilts, looked embroideried, set them with 16 patch scrappys. Now I need to try it as the quilting, looks promising as a TO DO cw

I forgot to tell you that appli-quilting is addicting. I have done them and changed the bobbin thread to match the top thread and it turned out so cute. The Summer Breeze charm packs are so pretty.
You do beautifil applique' work. Have fun in the contest. Love the fabric.

Your applique looks so smooth. I sometimes end up with buckling. And I love the flower design.
Barb, This is so funny...I just got home from a fabric shop with fabric and a pattern to make a tablerunner and it is done just like what you're doing...machine button hole stitch through all the 3 layers (thin)...so when I'm done, can I say I'm a novice appliquilter? If I need help, I know who to call!

Your project looks great, front and back. I've done appliquilting now and then, especially when I'm in a hurry and time is short. Takes care of two things at once. It's efficient and gives us more time for the next project.

The back is almost as pretty as the front, only in a minimalistic way.

Your appliquilting is great! I have never tried it myself, but it looks like a time saver.
Its because you are so neat that it looks good. I doubt anyone could do blanket stitch so nicely that the back looks as good as the front!

Cute Applique Barb, it sounds like you've been a busy women. I like the way you are appliquing through the layers, designer Patrick Lose was a guest speaker at one of our Quilt retreats and he used the same technique for his small wall hangings. I'm sure those layers make a great stabalizer too. I've been MIA and I miss my blogger friends. Have a lovely weekend!
