HARSH REALITY OF A FLUFFER.

Today I decided to pull out my Go cutter....yes, I have other things to do , like that binding I showed you....but hey.....a gal can change her mind.

So....I have my cutter out, cutting up a storm...and well....my scraps don't seem to be getting any less....infact if truth be told...they are multiplying right before my eyes..... How can that be?

They are only suppose to multiply when the lights are out!!!

Then it hits me.......

I am a fabric scrap fluffer.....are you?

Or are you a fabric stuffer? (I have many of these bags but....I can never seem to tame the scraps long enough to get them all in the coordinating bags).

Or a scrap happy fabric folder? (definitely not me).....

I have a poll on the side, stop by and let me know what you are...or do you want to confess to me. They say confession is good for the soul....so confess away.

So...not only am I a Fabricaholic, UFO Hoarder, now I am a Fabric Fluffer! Shewwweee....I feel better now.

  3. Barb, you always make my day....you are sooooo funny! True confession... I am a fabric scrap folder. And to confess further.... I don't use my scraps! Gasp!!! They are all packed up in a box and headed for Australia right now. I always give my scraps away to gals that make quilts for charity...cuz I know I'm not going to use them!

    Have fun fluffing away! :o)

    XOXO,

  6. I believe that I am more of a stuffer than anything else. I used to save every little piece of fabric no matter how small. Now, if it isn't at least 2" than it goes in the trash! When I put my scraps through the Go! my scrap pile gets much smaller and my trash can needs to be emptied several times. It was hard to get to this point but I was being over run by scraps. I've been buying some of the smaller plastic bins to use for the different shapes that I cut with my Go. I have such a small space that I have to be careful what I save.

  7. I'm a folder except for selvages, they just hang out together in a basket that is overflowing.

  8. I'm not sure where I fall. Most of my stash is organized by color and folded neatly put up on open shelves. The smaller pieces are my problem... they are everywhere and you are so right, they multiply.

  9. I am both, gulp, and it is sooo hard to change. In fact, my too tiny scraps and threads go in a basket. When I have enough, it will be stuffing for the kitty pillow I am going to make my cat. ( she likes to sleep in a wicker basket on my sewing shelf). Worst of all, it probably the most organinzed thing in my sewing room.

  10. When I do a quilt top, I use all the leftovers to make the back, so very little goes to the scrap baskets. I cut my scraps into squares of whateer size I can get out of them. The smallest I save is 1.5" if I can't cut a square that size then it goes into my can for unusable fabric, and then it gets stuffed into a pet pillow for the cats and dogs.

  11. I've joined FCA (Fabric Collectors Anonymous) it's helped a little. I do have to call my support person every now and then. I try to trash anything smaller than my hand - sometimes I stand next to the trash for several seconds before I let it go - but I'm working on it.

  13. I am a stuffer, I have one (actually more than one) of those zippered king size quilt bags and scraps get stuffed. I also have one for strips, that's the extent of organization. When I can't stuff anymore, you know, when you come back later and they have exploded out of the bag, then I go into scrap quilt making mode. The problem with that is I always need another color, so I cut more and make more scraps.

  14. They multiply because with the GO cutter you really do have tons of little pieces left. I am a fluffer.

  20. I'm OCD, if it's a large scrap, I'm a folder, if it's small I'm definitely a fluffer! Bwahahahaahaha!

  21. You got me, I confess! I'm a fabric folder and organizer. I don't know why I'm so fastidious with my fabric and sewing room but it just has to be tidy for me to sew and create. Maybe it comes from all those years of having fabric, notions, machines, irons, etc. scattered throughout the house while I sewed on the kitchen table and I could never find anything I wanted when I needed it. Now it's always where it should be and it makes me so happy! If I was only this way with the rest of the house I would have a tidy house all the time and would feel great about my house. Sadly, I'm not as nuts about it in the rest of the house so I get very cluttered but, hey, a girl has to live right and I'm not the only one that lives in the rest of the house. I think that's the secret, no one sews or goes in my sewing sanctuary but me!

My mom used to have a plaque that said, "My house is clean enough to be healthy but dirty enough to be happy" and I must admit that this is my motto. :)

  23. Hi My name is Ariane, I'm a fabricaholic, a scrapaholic, a scrap stuffer. Okay, that's enough for one day. Don't want to let all my issues out of the bag all at once. LOL!!! Hugs Ariane

  24. I am somewhere between a folder and a stuffer...but I put stuffer on the poll, because I think I lean more to the stuffer side of life. (sigh) That felt good to get it off my chest!

  25. Oh Barb, you so make me smile! I am a folder!

  26. There's no category for "binners" to vote! That's what I do with my scraps - I bin them. Now I'm going to run for cover before all you scrappers come gunning for me!

  27. Glad you got that all out of your system and feel better! Yes I fluff too!!

  28. I'm a folder, sorter, color coorindator...and then I never use them LOL. As a hand piecer I don't generate many scraps so it's not a huge issue for me :0)

  30. Hmm I am such a rebel - I am a Dropper!! ;D (I drop the scraps into either the shoebox, the basket, or the shelf cubby, depending on its category.) But I chose "Fluffer" on the sidebar vote, because I have a tendency to go "Oooo!" and run my hand through a portion of the growing entity to re-familiarize myself with what's hiding in the mass. . .

  31. So a folder. Well, scraps start off folded until the stack topples over. ;)
