Well...twice now I have tried to do stitchery and twice now it fades before I even get one tenth of the way through. So frustrating. So today, I went in search of the "Papermate Flair" pens....it has to be the green ones.
She suggested that we try it out on scraps first....so I did...twice
Here is the results....
I marked the square....
I put hand soap on the letter (sorry for bad picture)
here is the square with the soap on it....
Here is me washing the square, another bad picture.....but you can see the B faintly.
All stinking gone!!!! Like I said, I did this twice....I am sold!!!
It is worth the investment and do go over and see Jennifer's tutorial.
Awesome tip! I have had the same problem with my purple disappearing ink pen when I make Christmas stockings with the names embroidered on the top. If I don't hurry up and get the stitching done, I have to retrace the letters!

Oh what a great tip!
ReplyDeletethanks for spreading the news.
Happy sewing
That is too cool, Barb. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat little trick!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I am sold!
ReplyDeleteDid you try to iron it or anything after? Just curious. I've had problems when I've washed and then dried the mark comes back after heat. Would be curious to see if you have a problem.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great tip , will have to try that out as I hate when the purple marker fades out so quickly.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I think I'll get one next time I go to Staples (which I need to do anyway).
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...we could do with some of those pens in south Africa...perhaps we do have a store selling them...will google...
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing us how well it works....
Hi Barb, have you heard about the Frixon by Pilot, a gel pen that is erasable with the eraser on end but I found just touching it with dry iron (no water in it) that it all disappeared Somebody also mentioned that a hair dryer or put in your dryer and it disappears. You can buy them at Staples or any office supplies.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, I wonder what made you think to post this. LOL. I will certainly go try one. Thanks so much!!
ReplyDeleteThat`s great, thanks for sharing the tip and showing how is work.!!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I`ll find one.
Happy quilting!!
We don't have that brand of pen in Aussie but we do have the exact same effect with one called Artline (only green) and it's magic. I read a warning about Frixon pens, the chemical stays in and will come back if the fabric is put in the freezer so I'd rather something that washes completely out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteBarb the problem is....we do believe you....I'd belive you if you told me the sky would be green tomorrow...well...lets just say...I belive you and trust you :)

Now that is a cool tool!!!
ReplyDeleteInteresting Barb, I have never heard of using that pen before. Would you mind drawing with the pen, ironing it and then trying to get the ink out? If I embroider, I will often iron the piece so am curious :0)
ReplyDeleteCrispy
Great tip. If I can find that pen I will surely buy it. Right now I use Crayola water-soluable markers. I only use the light colours although they all seem to wash out completely.
ReplyDeleteGood to know. Irritating to mark something and have it not wash out.
ReplyDeleteHey Barb! Thanks for bringing this tip to our attention! I will certainly have to go out and buy one of those pens and give it a try!! 8-)
ReplyDeleteamazing thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you Barb, I have it on my shopping list.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pen. Thanks for sharing insights. I definitely want to check it out.
