Yesterday was Wednesday, my day for being with the 12 and 13 years olds. They came to my house and tie dyed tee shirts and.....
did this....
Here is the back. This is for a handicapped woman in our ward as a gift for when she comes and teaches them about art.
They got kinda creative with the back.
The hands stand for the Young Women Values.....each color represents a value - Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good works, Integrity, Virtue, Faith, and Divine Nature. Pretty sure they had a good time.
Here are a few more Be Attitude blocks....my ant needs legs...
Of course, my girl needs a face and some more blanket stitching but almost done!
On a side note, I did call Janome and talked to their customer service today. She said that the throat plate is an added feature and could possibly be damaged by a needle. I told her about my finding from others and on my yahoo group. She said that she has not had any complaints about the Horizon. Hummmmmm She said to take it to the dealer and see what happens from there. She was not with me when it broke so she does not know. Well....I tried to tell her that I have never had to take a machine to the shop after 4 months.... Well....we will just wait and see. No warranty on the throat plate....
Cute fiber art from the girls. Not a good move on Janome's part. Think they would want to replace that plate for you at NO cost.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear there is no warranty on the throat plate. Makes you wonder how good their warranty is period. Those creative hands are delightful. I'm sure those girls had a blast. Hugs
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift for her. I just love the meaning of the hands on the shirt. That would be a great fundraiser for a cause.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bag with such special meaning. Love it. Also love your Be Attitude blocks.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you called Janome Customer Service. Hopefully this issue will be resolved with the dealer and your Mr. Big will work perfectly from now on.

How are you going to put her face on? Paint, embroidery, etc.? I have two Elders who need faces and I'm tempted to leave them blank bz I don't want to mess them up!
ReplyDeleteThe pillow case is really cute and so fun for these girls. What a fun Beehive leader you are!
Hope all is well with you and your's. I'm working on a quilt that I bought the fabric for right after my first piecing class many moons ago and it's driving me nuts!! I love how it's working out but the half squares aren't done the way I like to do them and I had already cut all the pieces years ago so I'm stuck finishing it this way. Oh well, it sure will be satisfying to have it finished after all this time.

It does look like the girls had fun. I see they like the Somoan fabric also. Your be blocks look great. I really need to get busy with mine. Doesn't sound like customer service was very helpful. Hopefully the shop will fix you right up.
ReplyDeleteYou have convinced me not to buy a Janome. I have a Pfaff that I love. It is not the really expensive one. It is a lower end quilting machine but it does very well for me.
ReplyDeleteI've had Janome machines for years I was always bragging on them ,I don't know what is going on but lately it seems everyone is having problems with them .I switched to a Babylock in December and love it .
ReplyDeleteGreat pillowcase Barb! I love the appliqued hands! Your other blocks are adorable too. Jenn
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece of art you and the girls made for the other teacher. You are teaching them great things.
ReplyDeleteWell isn't that great customer service....she wasn't with you when it broke so it was probably your fault anyway....sheesh. I would just take the dang thing back and get my money back.
ReplyDeleteLove your attitude blocks and the bag will be will loved :0)
Crispy
Does not sound good.
ReplyDeleteJanome should be aware of the power of the Internet.
I'll keep some positive thoughts, but if Customer Service does not back you up - what will the local dealer do? ! ! ! !
Doesn't sound like customer service was much into service :( Hopefully the dealer will be a bit more responive. Love your Be Attitude blocks!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute thank you gift from the girls!
ReplyDeleteI remember how Pat had problems with Janome. Don't give up - keep escalating.
Love what your little group has done and the lovely "attitude" blocks are beaut... Fee
ReplyDeleteWhat fun with the group and love the applique blocks. I agree with Crispy..I'd take the machine back.
ReplyDeleteVery cute project! They did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteCustomer service....never fun to deal with.
I've found that Janome never wants to take care of things, but the dealer probably will. What that rep said is ridiculous. Unless it was some generic throat plate you threw on there, you shouldn't be having any problems. Sheesh.
ReplyDeletearrgh.that non-committal attitude is what I have heard from everyone with a Janome product.
ReplyDeleteGreat art from the kiddos. Hope you can get your throat plate fix, as a quilter you need your sewing machine. I love the attitude blocks, it will be a stunning quilt.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the girls had fun Barb! Your blocks are coming along nicely. I'm so sorry about your sewing machine and sure hope they will replace your throat plate. I've broken needles before while free motion quilting, but never the throat plate. Good luck, they should definitely do something for you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the local sewing machine people. I sure hope it goes your way.
ReplyDeleteBarb, looks like great fun for the girls. I love your Be Attitudes block.
ReplyDeleteI am confused. How is the throat plate an add on?
ReplyDeleteAnd as for the little whole...I have found that I wont be able to use it. It can only be used for DS1, DS2 and DS3...none of which is a 1/4". That made me sad. I wanted so much to use it for quilting. I never sew anything but 1/4".
I have just started using it and it says to use the accufeed all of the time even regular piecing. That seems strange.
Love the hands! That brought back memories of my Wednesdays at that age. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish the customer service was more helpful. :( Hope you can get it fixed soon.
Oh and I'm loving your "Be" blocks.
