So.....as I was thinking last night upon this dilema.....I went though in my head about cutting up tissue paper, copy paper....tin foil....and then
Plastic grocery bags!!! I have them, they are cheap. Get the ole trusty rotary cutter (you have dull blades somewhere)...and start stripping.....nothing like a little stripping to get the day going good!
I was also thinking that this would be great for filler paper for gift bags as well.
If you don't like the white and want a little color, Walmart has the blue bags....sure it is not green but hey....it is free!!! If you are like me, you have these bags all over the house....if you are organized, you have them in one spot in a container (okay....now you know....I am not organized, I am an organizer want to be).....but I am not a pig...and there is a difference....
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery creative. I would never have thought of this and it is perfect.
ReplyDeleteIf you want the "grass" to look a little "primitive" - brown paper bag strips would work! And they're free, too! Love the baskets. Bummer I didn't win the orange slices! lol
ReplyDeleteclever idea and great recycling! I found edible grass, isn't that funny?
ReplyDeleteexcellent idea especially since we are celebrating earth day
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and maybe some pretty green fabric strips would give you the color you want.
ReplyDeleteYou thrifty, creative lady! Wonderful idea for reusing those bags and saving on gasoline, (no driving all over town looking for grass) -- and don't forget using a dull blade. It's recycling x 3 at its best!
ReplyDeleteGenius idea, and my grocery store even provides green ones!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, what a great idea! And so cute! Perfect for gift bags...ok, here I go...I have some cutting to do.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Barb!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea :D
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about that too. I HATE the traditional grass, so this year I was thinking of just using a couple of crumpled up green fat quarters. Jenn
ReplyDeleteBarb you are SOO clever!! What a great idea! I recycle my bags back to the stores (if I have any that is), but I might have to start saving all the colored ones just for this use!! Thanks for sharing!! And yes, you basket is adorable as well!
ReplyDeleteVery clever. Unfortunately the Walmart's near me no longer have blue bags. :-(
ReplyDeleteClever indeed! Good for you.
ReplyDeleteThe bunny looks fantastic in the little basket!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea.Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteGood idea. I wonder how it would turn out if I just put paper through my paper shredder. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....
ReplyDeleteEeek! Great idea! I hate easter grass but I think I can handle cutting up a bag. I have a million of them!
ReplyDeleteOh Barb....you are stomping in Karen's Tool Time Tuesday back yard now....Genius idea!!! When is the Genius going to visit me?
ReplyDeleteGiggles,
Kelly
You're right, there is a difference! The more my kids move out the more my organizing self becomes more apparent bz no one messes up my system! This is a unique idea and I'm definitely going to cut me up a bunch when the blades get dull again. I use my plastic bags for garbage bags in the small cans so I do have a collection of them. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteThe bunny looks so cute in the basket. Great idea for the use of recycling the bags.
ReplyDeleteGreat Idea!.....your basket is cute!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant to use the bags!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat recycling... and it's soft too...
ReplyDeleteHugz
Great idea! You are always coming up with fun new ideas.
ReplyDeleteNice recycling tactic. Your bunny does look snug. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, I always feel bad buying all the fake grass. Repurposing is so much more fun.
ReplyDeleteWell Barb,
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time we had lots of plastic bags and occasionally they start to gather again but now, a lot of the stores here are charging 5 cents a bag to encourage recycling and using recycled bags or cloth bags. I also take bags to school to give to my kids because some of them forget their bag packs. Perhaps the recycled paper in my bin at school would be a good thing to use to make Easter grass- it wouldn't crinkle as well or have the same puffy-ness of plastic. Your grass idea is cool and I think that it would make great Easter grass. Thanks for sharing.
Regards,
Anna
Your baskets are darling and I love the idea for the grass. Have a wonderful Easter celebration.
ReplyDeleteExcellent way to reuse a plastic bag :0)
ReplyDeleteCrispy
Great Idea Barb, I've used the shredder and shredded bright paper before. Worked out perfectly.
ReplyDeleteYou are a great recycler! And your bunny looks very happy in his nest too.
