SINCE I AM GLUED TO THE TV, I DECIDED TO DO THIS.....

I like most of you are probably glued to the TV and watching the destruction of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan and was watching to see how it effected the US soil. I know we all are concerned and sending prayers their way...

So...I decided that I am not much good to do anything else so I am going to stitch this...I am going to use a stabilizer but going to use batting, then I will cut the batting around the octopus to give it some dimension...

After all that cutting and ironing with the Be Attitudes quilt, I decided that I needed some meandering time...so last night I meandered this quilt and had the binding almost on but kept making mistakes so I quit and finished the binding this morning.

  1. Aren't those amazing sights? It just doesn't seem like it could really happen.

It looks like you are making good use of the television time!!

  2. I lived in San Francisco during the Quake of '89. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I can't look at the images or see the videos, it just hurts too much to look at. It is going to take a while to rebuild, but they can do it.

Christchurch, NZ just took a hit as well a couple of weeks ago. My heart and my prayers go out to these people.

  3. I definitely am excited to see the finished "Be Attitudes" quilt. So unique and fun.

I had the CNN live feed on Hawaii running all morning. I logged on at 6:00 a.m. and was so relieved to find out that it wasn't that big. Last year with the tsunami warning there the missionaries were allowed to call home for "2 minutes" to let their family know they were on high ground and safe. No phone call this year but that's okay since it would have been pretty much over when most people were waking up. Trav knows several Japanese Elders and we're praying for their families.

Did A. Samoa have tsunami warnings too? Sorry but my geography is really bad.

  4. Have you used this method before of cutting the batting away after applique'ing? Sounds like fun. Cute little quilt!

  10. What a sad day it is for Japan, I've been praying for the people there. I've been through a number of Earthquakes and they are frightening. Your little Octopus is so adorable, what a good idea to add a little batting to give it some depth. Very cute projects.

  13. I have several friends who live in Tokyo and Yokohama. Have had the television on all day, but have not been able to do much sewing. It's just too overwhelming. Did you have memories of the tsunami in America Samoa last year?

  17. While we live in a world of great news access, this is going to be a world-wide disaster where we don't get the real WW perspective for some time. Very sad situation, but hopefully one with minimal loss of life & damage.

Love your Octopus that I think you are traying trapunto with (great idea for this design).
