I don't know if any of you remember this quilt?
My mother hand pieced and hand quilted this for me. She showed it to me a few years ago but I left it with her while in Amerika Samoa.
When I recently visited my mother, I hugged her and went straight for this quilt. Had to hug her first but I was a woman on a mission.....
When those chills hit...this quilt becomes my best friend.
One problem tho....there is a mystery pin in this quilt somewhere and every once in a while it rears it's ugly head and gives me a quick jolt....
OUCH!!!!
It is a lovely quilt.... beautiful soft colours.... pity about that pin.... ouch..... I guess we all have our sharp sides?????

So nice and that sashing color brings it all together whilst keeping the squares separate! you know what I mean don't you?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quilt.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, my granddaughter had a friend go on a vacation with us and she brought along a quilt that her grandmother had made for her probably 12 years earlier. All of a sudden she got a nasty scratch. After a close examination of the quilt, I found a pin that had been left inside all those years earlier. I managed to get it out through a seam. It was very old and very rusty after all that time.
My guess is she's still using that quilt that she loved so much.
The quilt is beautiful!!! You will need it since your blood has been thinned by living in the tropics. Maybe the first time you use it, pull it into your lap one inch at a time until you find that darn pin!!

it is indeed a treasure, Mom did a great job. I see where you got your talent. How many blocks are in the quilt?

What a beautiful quilt! And how fortunate you are to have such a talented mom! Guess it's a bit difficult getting used to the cold weather again, huh?! Watch out for that pin!

rub a magnet over it and 'find' the pin. then you can work it out. I have a couple of older quilts with the head of the pin left in but the metal part removed. I think I would rather have a small hole then a spot of blood. cw
ReplyDeleteI would think that this would be worth a few pin pricks when the weather turns like this and you aren't used to it! lol
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. I'm happy to hear it is back with you. But watch out for that pin!

ReplyDeletenothing warms the heart like a quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt! LOL on the mystery pin. I hope you find it before it gets you again.
ReplyDeletePretty! And it looks very cozy and warm. Sorry you gotta stand a jab or two to enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteWhoops, I had a pin in a quilt once. I finally got the head broke off and got the sharp part out. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteMuch like a mother's love--warm and soft, but with a prick from time to time to keep you on the straight and narrow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Hope you find the pin and can get it out.
ReplyDeleteI hope you gave her another hug after you received it. Glad she held onto it while you were gone as it will definitely come in handy in VA.
ReplyDeleteNice quilt- keep warm

Thanks for showing your new home. Hopefully you'll be so busy that the 30th will show up sooner than you expect.
ReplyDeleteI think Cheryl's suggestion about using a magnet is a logical plan for finding that pin in the beautiful quilt. Good luck finding and removing it.
