Notice that I did not do all 12 squares. When I laid what I had pluss the one square I completed, I did not and I repeat, did not like the look of it. Not happy.
Sooooooooooooooo I said, "why invest any more time into this quilt"! So, the sewing came to a halt! Laid them all on the floor....went and watched some "Flip this House" and thought about it. Came back...put in the sashing...and
then....went and thought again...more "flip this house"
didn't want to deal with all those 2 1/2 inch strips later on.....and well, that is why I did the border the way I did.
Still don't like it but hey, it is finished top. Another basket empty.
So tonight I am working on a quilt I started 2 years ago, one of my fist quilts I talked about on my blog because I have now been blogging 2 years.....wooooo hooo...who would have thunk it? Don't think I will finish it tonight but....I am going to try to get it done next week. You can hold me to it...
maybe...
Turned out pretty snazzy I'd say. And, done IS good.
ReplyDeleteEven if you don't like it, it is finished and that's always good.
ReplyDeleteI think it turned out great. I didn't like the blocks after I had made only two, so I have two orphan blocks. At least you have a finished top!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt came out nice, not one of your finest but still pretty. It would make a lovely charity donation if you aren't happy with it. Most jelly rolls don't have enough contrast IMHO, which is why I never buy them.
ReplyDeleteCrispy
I think it looks good!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing another project!
I really like the fabrics in that top. What line is it?
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, DONE is good!
If you don't like it still when it is finished, gift it to someone that will love it to pieces.
ReplyDeleteIt might not be a star to you- but from here it looks pretty darn good! That orange and white is one is just so blindingly lovely, these more quiet guys are gonna find it hard to compete...you are really on a roll- when you finish your UFOs, maybe you can come finish mine! LOL.....
ReplyDeleteYou don't like it? I have the solution -- send it to me! I love everything about it -- scrappiness, piano border, scrappiness, light sashings, scrapppiness, contrasting red cornerstones, did I mention scrappiness(?)everything! :)))
ReplyDeleteYOur colors are great on that quilt Barb. Now personally I do not like sampler quilts so I stopped making the blocks after the 6th one. I just completed a runner from them for my computer table which is quite long and I made a few mats for my sewing area.
ReplyDeleteI think t looks nice but those colors tend to speak to me. I do have to say, I doub it would look as nice if you had done any other kind of border.
ReplyDeleteEither way, another finish down so that deserves a Hooray!
I love this! You always make fabulous quilts!
ReplyDeleteI LIKE it!! It looks a lot like mine! :0)
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job in salvedging a quilt you didn't like.
ReplyDeleteI am on the UFO path this weekend too. I just want to get them done!
I like it too - the white makes it look like a window frame - very cool.
ReplyDeleteI only made 9 of the blocks too, as it wasn't my favorite.
ReplyDeleteOne more thing off the list is good :)

Nice finish! I know it's not your favorite but I'm sure whoever you give it to will love it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what you are talking about, that quilt is qorgeous! I just love the colors!!! Silly, girl! You are just in a mood, take a walk! lol
ReplyDeleteVery Pretty Barb, that's a lot of work for something you don't like.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that quilt is ookie..what don't you like about it? I will be watching to make sure you finish..Holding you to it...so to speak. hahahaha
ReplyDeletePat
Very nice Barb! Love all your colors..
ReplyDeleteI think it looks terrific! I always love borders that are stripped like that. I think it really adds something to the quilt to have a simple, but interesting, border.
ReplyDeleteHappy quilting,
Susan in Texas
Looks good you're finishing up quite a bit aren't you
ReplyDeleteI know how it feels to not like a quilt top, but I like your top that you don't like better than my top that I don't like:) You made a good choice of fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love it! If you happen to need matching fabric, Deb Strain has another (extremely) similar collection coming out in November called Java.
ReplyDeleteI love the border most!
Hey....I like the cool border, Barb! It is fun to finish off "old" projects.
ReplyDeleteI think this quilt is great, I love the scrappy look. It is probably a step outside your usual box. Honestly, I think it will grow on you when it is quilted. REALLY...I do heart this!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Sometimes just being done is great.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great Barb. With that said, I did not do all 12 of the presented blocks, actually made 3 of my own.
ReplyDeleteBarb,
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty quilt. I like the blocks and the fabric is great. I really like the piano key border. I think you did a real nice job.
Happy Quilting!

You might not like it but it looks great. I love the piano key border. I think you did right...if you're not enjoying it or liking it, what's the point? This is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. I have found though that when you add the quilting it really brings it to life...
ReplyDeleteHi Barb,
ReplyDeleteLooking at it again and I really like it the way it is. I still think it is a really nice job. I really like the piano keys for the border. Okay I'am excited about the next project you'll be working on. Thanks for sharing.
Happy Quilting!
