Are you all Hot out there????

Thought you would enjoy this...my sister Bev...sent it to me via email and I thought it was soooo funny.
I never thought I would say this but I am actually getting my stash down by helping my sister with this Go cutter giveaway over at Ebonys. I am glad I am doing this...it has helped declutter alot of my stash...but there is always negative aspects to everything and I won't dwell on that...we will leave this post on a happy note.

...but...my only disadvantage is postage....... so now I have to be prudent. I tell my husband of the postage cost and he is so sweet....as long as I am happy (no I am not sharing him).

I didn't have much junivile fabrics or ....batting... My closet is now looking clean, I should show a picture because you all have seen it a mess with batting all over...not any more....and well...I am at the end. I am really excited about it all since I am moving this has helped alot...and I do mean alot.

So....few more quilts and I am going to have to call it quits unless I figure out another means to getting my quilts over there...maybe carry them in a suitcase when I leave??? We will see...least way....I am sooooooooooooooooo happy.....doing the cleaning and stash busting dance....and soon..the Go dance.

but...
but...

that scrap breeding is still going on....man!!! How does one control it?

  1. Barb, I am glad you can help your sister out. I am rooting for her. Everybody in the contest has done so much work, much more than you made us do. ;) Could you make just tops and ship those to your sister. Then have her worry about the batting and the backs? Just a thought to cut down on shipping.

Love ya! And yep it is hot in TX.

  2. I am amazed how scraps breed too! I close the door to my sewing room at night, and I swear that the next morning there are more scraps! Faster than making rabbits.

I think we need to find some quilting airline people who will help take your charity quilts to their destinations (and bring you more scraps).

  5. It's a mild 80 degrees here today and no humidity, so we are loving it! So glad to hear of your stash cleansing! How generous of you to help your sister! I've been using up some of my stash too and it feels good! The brown bag quilt contest will help with a little more too :) That will be fun!

  7. What a great way to stash bust! I was wondering about the cost of shipping for some people. Plus, what about those that aren't stash busting and buying fabric? It is a worthy cause but it could get pretty expensive real fast. Sometimes I wonder if it might be more cost effective to just buy a Go. It is for some worthy causes though.

  10. Good job! I've trying to use up stash for at least 3 years now and it just seems to grow instead of getting smaller.

  13. Oh my goodness, I love the comic, it is just how we feel here!!!!
How about just tops for now, that would cut down on the shipping. I have always wanted to try one of those bags where the air is vacuumed out, but my luck it would pop open and inflate!!

  19. It was 106F here in Texas today. I don't mind it, but LOTS of people sure do! Loved the cartoon. Good luck with the stash-busting.

  20. I loved the cartoon, even though it was wet, windy and cold here for the last couple of days. It's felt more like mid autumn than mid summer. As for the stash busting, mine's all in a cupboard with a door that will hardly shut. I pull stuff out, make something with it, and guess what? Still can hardly shut that door. So, how does that happen?
