THIMBLEBERRIES SEW DAY!
This is what I am working on, I didn't put any batting in it. I like how my friend Jean has done her runners and wall hangings, with no batting. So now I am quiting it.
This is called the Oak Leaf Basket by Thimbleberries. I used the fabrics from Inchworm Fabric's Store.
Go bon's blogy And sew , she did Thimbleberries Sew day today as well.
Here is the drawstring backpack bag that one of the gals wanted to learn to sew. So this is our tomorrow's project. This bad is in the "Quick Quilts" magazine, summer 2010 issue. I did change it up some and well..next time I will put a pocket on it.
Love the red bag, that would be great for my little boy, have to look around and see if the pattern came out here.
ReplyDeletei love your table runner.
ReplyDeleteAs for Connecting Threads, I wish I could buy from them, but they won't ship to the UK. Boohoo.
The bags look fun!
ReplyDeleteYour basket quilt looks great! I love how the leaves are floating around. I'm working on a quilt that will have no batting since it will be a tablecloth. I wasn't sure how I was going to like the "feel" of the tablecloth but I actually like it. Not bumpy like I thought it would be.
Cute bags! No batting in wall hangins or table runners. I might just try that. I've never made a table runner because I thought it would be too bumpy.
ReplyDeleteNice fabrics, runner & bags! Have fun sewing!
ReplyDeleteNice Barb! I had some of that Orange Kanji fabric and the Green with the white pattern that I used )in a quilt that I still waiting for me to finish it! )
ReplyDeleteMost of the Connecting Threads fabric I have used has been very nice.
Don't you just love making bags? You get something you can use in a short time. And I love backpacks, too. I recently did a little makeup bag with a zipper--my first time to do that--but I'm not ready to show it. I need to get that zipper thing down pat before I do.
ReplyDeleteHave fun sewing today!
Well you have certainly been busy. I'm sure the ladies will love the bags :0)
ReplyDeleteCrispy
Too much fabric! Never! We can always find a place to put more....
ReplyDeleteBarb, I see my favorite fall basket runner again.SO now I am way too curious but if it has no batting how will it lay especially is you decide to hang it on the wall? What does the quilting attatch too?
ReplyDeleteThe drawstrings bags look great!
Barb I have to answer YES! I have been overwhelmed trying to organize my stash! But I do like you new fabric. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE using Connecting Threads fabric for my quilt backs, too!!
ReplyDeleteand, no....never too much fabric :) :)
When you outgrow storage space, it is too much. Of course, "storage space" can be loosely defined. :)
ReplyDeleteThe ladies are going to flip out! Sew, sew cute!!!! Maybe your hubby will be transferred to California so I can go take purse lessons. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteBoth of the drawstring bags are great, Barb. I know the gals will be happy that you came up with a pattern for them.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea I should make one up for my trip in September to Hawaii and the Society Island. Would be great to take handwork poolside while on the ship.
ReplyDeleteJust read your post about your friends, I think that is so cool that you are helping them out. You are leaving a little bit of you behind when you leave....very sweet and I am sure they really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say you can NEVER have enough fabric!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work my dear. I make a lot of what I call "summer quilts" without putting the batting inside. That's why I call them "summer quilts". Just the top and backing. That's it. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting.
Too much fabric? Never!
ReplyDeleteI love your bags. I have wanted to make myself a backpack so that I can carry more when I ride my scooter. You are doing a wonderful job teaching the 3 gals how to quilt.
In a cottage, I am afraid that I am limited in how much fabric that I can have. I love your red bag. The Samoan fabric is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteMicki
Whoohoo! Love that topper! Great bags too!
ReplyDeleteI can never have enough, when it comes to fabric I am a greedy one!!!
