My advice is too......................
not touch...............that dial....
don't even look at..............
don't even sneeze in the direction of the dial........
TO JUST LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!!!! GET IT!!!! REPEAT AFTER ME!!!
"LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE"!!!!!
So you say, what on earth is she talking about..... Okay...so I am sewing on the below quilt....everything is going along sooo good....I am even singing as I go along.
Happy that life is being so good to me and Mr. Pfaff has no complaints of the day.
Then.....
It happens.....
yes....can't just be happy.....the dial....it is screaming to me.
I go...oh....that is not supppose to be on that number (what ever you do don't touch it...it is not chocolate)....so I change the setting....
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW did you hear that from Amerika Samoa....
Yes...I was hopping and skipping along, turned the dial....kept sewing...finished what I was doing....and...you guessed it.... I totally messed up the tension.
So repeat after me...."LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE"!
That bit of advice being said....the quilt is finished. Not to keen on the binding but that was all the fabrice that I had that would give me enough for the binding...not crying about it tho...
Several have asked about the pattern, I use the Yellow Brick Road Pattern and the turtles are my own design....
My niece at Inch worm Fabrics says that you can get any fat quarter from any fabric in her store for $1.25...that is a good deal, you just have to let her know what you want.
I agree with you, I don't touch the dial! It can do scary things.
ReplyDeleteI love how the turtles almost blend in with the quilt...very nice!

Oh, I hate it when the tension isn't just right. Your quilt however is adorable. Good Job!! You Temptress, Just when I'm trying to go on a fabric diet and use from my stash. :)
ReplyDeleteI was having tension issues with my machine last week and asked the advice of a quilty friend...she said, "Turn the tension dial...that's what it's there for!"
ReplyDeleteFrom where I am sitting, the quilt looks beautiful! I love the turtles!!!
I read the janome instructions! Then I never touched the settings EVER...hear me Barb...EVER!
ReplyDeleteYou are funny.
Oh brother!!!! Life should go along happily while sewing.
ReplyDeleteThis is just so neat! Will you keep this one? It just looks so what I think of as 'South Pacific' - a good reminder of your time in Samoa - but you probably don't need that - it's in your heart now... love the way you did the turtle...
ReplyDeleteHugs - Shari
I wish I knew the words in Hawaiian to say Perfect - don't change. But the best I can say is that I love it and think you have created an absolutely beautiful quilt...don't change it! I love it!
ReplyDeleteA hui ho!

ReplyDeleteIt turned out beautifully!

Oh, I know...I don't touch the dial!!! (but your quilt looks great anyway!)
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah! I know how tempting that tension dial is. A couple of days ago I was free motion quilting and my top thread got stuck! It broke and I couldn't get it out of the top tension thingy. So I took my machine apart! Can you imagine - my $2,000Bernina! I don't know what made me do that. It seems to be okay, but I don't think I would recommend it to anyone.
ReplyDeleteI never touch the dial...it's scary lol
ReplyDeletelove it
ReplyDeleteSad! It looks good though, and the little turtles are swimming along fine, soo....
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great, I just love the turtles! Tension adjustments are so frustrating at times.
ReplyDeleteI learned a long time ago don't touch that dial!
ReplyDeletethe quilt came out beautifully
really just love those turtles!
I must admit, I have touched the dial, but only at the beginning on a test piece and I wrote the original number down first. Boy, it sure is touchy though LOL.

And I find I adjust my tension with just about every project as it depends on the thread, fabric and batting and the combination of all three to get the tension just right. Don't be afraid of it!
ReplyDeleteLove those cute sea turtles!!
ReplyDeleteI mess with my dial whenever I need to...what it is there for.
Some threads need it tweaked...;-)
Hugs,
Lola
I love, love, love the turtles!!!!
