It is amazing how one views the world in a different light when wellness is in sight.....finally turned the corner yesterday....and sooooooooooooooooooooo went to a quilt shop.....
I must tell you....I truly thought I died and went to heaven. Walking into that store, seeing all the wonderful fabric, kits, notions, and then their sewing room.....oh my goodness. I truly wanted to cry.....it was a total Euphoric experience. If you have lived where there are no quilting stores, or even the food stores...you would know what I mean.
So no more delays...feast your eyes!!!
This was a scrap bag....now I don't know about you but my scraps don't look like this...I thought it was a good bargain.
More material for my Texas quilt (yes, I plan to finish it).....no comments please.
Got a Christmas quilt pattern, I was shamed by Sew Cal Gal when she did her virtual post of your favorite Christmas quilt and I not have one.....hummmmmm bad girl!!
I have only a few more days to be bad and then I will have to try to be good for next year....I surely want Santa to visit me.....
I brought this as an idea for ladies to make and sell on the island.
This is from Walmart...had to go and buy packing material.....don't know how this got in the post....talk about crying...walking into Walmart is an out of body experience......my husband and I just walk around with our mouths open...touching everything and commenting on how cheap things are.....
Then I just could not stay away...had to go back again to the fabric store and I found the next two patterns on sale.....have I told you all how I love Thimbleberries? Infact if you see the title of my blog, behind it is a Thimbleberry project.
Great shopping! Love the Christmas quilt patterns. Quick Quilts is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteBarb, I haven't got a Christmas quilt OR even a table topper done, even though I won some oh so wonderful Henry Glass snowmen fabrics (my first every Christmas fabrics) from Allyson of "Fat Cat Quilts". I have fondled the beautiful fabrics over and over again but I'm trying to finish up a Thimbleberries BOM that I have ready to assemble, a big guy...king sized soooo, I hope have something wonderful made for Christmas next year. *sigh* Really I do.
ReplyDeleteAfter our return from living in Europe all those years we always felt overhwhelmed with choice and selection...walking into Wal-Mart was like an amusement park kind of day! I know EXACTLY your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back among the living and will be enjoying the holidays with clear head. :-)
How wonderful to feel better and find a quilt shop!! :-) I love turtles~ is your pattern for pincushions or toys? Love Thimbleberries too. Glad you found such great stuff!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that you're finally well. I love shopping for patterns, fabric and everything else that goes along with this great obsession! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas.
No...my scraps do not look like that either. Of course if I had a great color mind, they may. Hmmmm!
ReplyDeleteLove all the patterns and fabrics. The Texas ones will be awesome and that Whispering Pines is really neat.
I hope you finish the toy one for the next Christmas Tour. Glad you are back among the living. It always makes one appreciate feeling good.
I totally know where you are coming from when you tell us what a thrill it is to be in a real quilt shop....I live in a small town and although we have fabric at Ben Franklin (and it is a good selection) it is to die for in a real quilt shop! I don't live as far away from one as you do but I still don't get to one as often as I would like. My M J farmgirls took me to another small town and I got to see a packed quilt store out in the middle of nowhere...so they are really everywhere, some in more remote areas than others. I won't tell you to have fun, I KNOW you are!!!!
ReplyDeleteBarb, I am so happy to hear you are better and getting back to normal. Its scary to be sick that long. I can just imagine how excited you were in that great Quilt shop. Now you stay well and have a Very Merry Christmas. Love Kaye
ReplyDeleteGirl, I know exactly what you mean--I live and work at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for six months out of the year, and if there is a quilt shop or fabric store within 200 miles, I have not found it yet. I just went "fabric crazy" when I got to my winter home in Alabama. Shopping online helps the need for fabric, but there is absolutely nothing like going into a fabric store.
ReplyDeleteBarb, Looks like you had a wonderful time at the quilt store. I remember years ago going to Mexico in the winter for 4 months, coming back was just like you describe. You forget about all the goodies you're missing. Love those Cowboy fabrics and the Santa pattern is adorable. Enjoy your time on the mainland and have a wonderful Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love Thimbleberries also, and have wayyyyy tooo many patterns of them. They are all so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear you're on the mend! And just in time for Christmas, too.
ReplyDeleteYou did well on your outing to the quilt shop. I love ♥ love ♥ love the Santa quilt pattern. Love it!
I can see Tonya looking longingly at the Shelly and Sheldon pattern now!
ReplyDeletesomething in this post reminds me that I have a package to mail!
Looks like you will be real busy when you get back. I love love the st. nick pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric Barb, esp. the Texas fabric, as I used to live there.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Christmas!
Micki
Hooray for Barb! She's alive!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteSeems like you had great fun doing the 'States' style shopping, and you only bought a scrap bag of fabric! Patterns don't count as being bad (or out of control) cause they will help you use the fabric you already have. Right? Oooo those holly baskets are so cute.
Score!! You found lots of goodies.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better!
So glad your feeling better and your out having fun!
ReplyDeleteenjoy a bit of shopping therapy while you can..
Love that Old Nick quilt..
Ooooooh! Aaaaaaaah! You got some neat stuff there Barb! I love old St. Nick and the antique toys. Can't wait to see that next year! Have fun drooling at Walmart. I felt the same when I came home from Grand Cayman Island. But I had only been there one week!
ReplyDeleteOh yippee you are better and what a great way to celebrate, shopping!!! and shopping for fabric!!! How fun, love what you got!
ReplyDeleteYAY...you're feeling better and you went fabric and pattern shopping!!! Yippee!!! I'm really happy for you on both counts.
ReplyDeleteI love Thimbleberries too! Love the patterns, love the fabric, love it all :-) Enjoy your city visit. There are pros and cons to all of it, but you know that.
ReplyDeleteWow, you cleaned up! What great things you've purchased. Good for you....glad you're feeling better! Take care.
ReplyDeletesounds like a great store...have a great holiday
ReplyDeleteBarb, those Thimbleberries patterns will make beautiful Christmas quilts!

I'm VERY happy to hear you are feeling better. And very happy you checked out a local quilt shop in Texas, and did your part to help sew-economics in Texas! {thank you}.
ReplyDeleteMy apologies if I've shamed you into making a Christmas quilt, but I do think you'll enjoy making & having one. Best Christmas decoration ever is a Christmas quilt!
Stay healthy!

ReplyDeleteHO HO HO, I'm so glad you are better!!! And I know the feeling when you walk into a new quilt shop. Our small town has three!!! but you get used to them.
ReplyDeleteGreat scraps, patterns, you got it all and I'll bet you are just itching to get back to the sewing machine.
Peru had no fabric stores and I wanted to buy peruvian fabric. Guess you have to weave it yourself there.
Merry Christmas, friend.
The girl did well. I received a Kaffe Fasset book through the post yesterday.Quilt Romance . I t has a pickle dish quilt on the cover, I immediately got a bag of srtips out and started the quilt , thing is I have Kaffe fabrics and I cannot bear to cut them yet
